Robocop Reboot (Pre-release)

I'm pretty sure that most of you fanboys (like myself) have seen people trying to defend and trying to justify this new design. Honestly, I like the suit. Is it better than the original as far as design goes? No, not in my opinion. Does it look like something we've seen before? Yes, but that's not really a bad thing. Don't get me wrong here, I adore the original suit and film, but I don't think it's fair to shoot a film down from the look of the suit. The suit doesn't make the character. The Character makes the suit. I can assure you that many people (back in the 80s) found the original suit laughable but after the movie, everyone loved it! The new suit kinda has to look "new" and move in a way that would seem more futuristic than the original. He was clunky and slow in the original, and he's sleek and fast in the new one. Now, his right hand showing.....I really don't know how I feel about that. I'm guessing their gonna show a bit more of his human side so he can interact and feel more relative to the citizens. Or some cool story telling about his finger prints or something lol Anyway, I'm not gushing over the new suit or the movie, but that also means I will pass judgement until the movie comes out and I've seen for myself. Sorry if I upset anyone, I'm just seeing a lot of one noted things being said here to the point it's not even fair.
 
I think most people's biggest problem is that there's nothing here that makes it different from anything else. Laughable or not Robocop had a style that set itself apart. Now he's just "Judge G.I. Iron Knight".

This is hits it right on the head. I have no doubt it'll be a ripoff (as opposed to an homage) to everything we've seen in the last 25 year.
 
The suit bugs me because it looks exactly like a guy in the suit. Obviously the original was a guy in a suit, but with Wellers acting and Rob bottin's handiwork, he looks like a robot. Like when I see robo's neck and the back of his head, it looks robotic. Take the helmet off and from side profiles it makes you wonder how they did it because it looks like a robot.

The current fx guys got lazy and just threw a cowl over his head so just his face was showing. Nothing about the suit looks robotic. Also that visible hand is just stupid, if I was a bad guy, the only thing I would thing is "target"

Either way I'm going to see this movie when it hits theatres.

If so it just shows why the suit is so important. Robocop is not Iron Man, he's ROBOCOP. He shouldn't be doing flips or flying or any of that crap, he should be the slow relentless enforcement of the law. That's the character, the movement reinforces that.

But the original intention was for RoboCop to be able to move more fluidly, that's my point.

Don't misinterpret that statement as me preferring that over the robotic movements that have come to define RoboCop. I love Weller's final performance, but it was only because the suit was not what he expected.

Fair enough. It became the hallmark of that character though so they should keep it. :)
 
If I had to venture a guess, I'd say they will show him without the head cowl on and you'll see all the circuits and wire and blah blah blah but it's all going to be CGI. Apart from the crappy mass effect suit, everything will be CGI.
 
Maybe it should have been a reboot of the 80's TV show STREETHAWK?

But seriously, I might have been intrigued had they stayed true to the "robot" part of the original. If they planned a radical departure, I would have thought a combination of techniques would have pulled off something potentially stellar. Using the body replacement techniques from GREEN LANTERN, the actor could have performed and had an unmistakably robotic form. And as cool as they movements were in I, ROBOT, I'd be much more psyched to see them combined with the wildly inhuman movements of AIMEE from RED PLANET.

But, yeah, looks like the concept of "well, people like a guy in armor, so we'll do that" prevailed.
 
Why all black?? i hate that colour scheme.

why not keep the blue/silver mettalic?

that suit just looks like black plastic rubbery like Batman.

I hope it looks better in live action.
