We're starting to fall towards conjuncture again - any NEW info make its way off the set?

Now that I've learned to use spoiler tags, I can say what I wanted regarding plot.

I read somewhere that the storyline in the reboot has changed as well. Murphy isn't murdered and his mostly-dead corpse used to make a cybog cop; instead it's an "opt-in" program by Omnicorp.

Murphy - with the agreement of his wife - volunteers for the program, with the assurance from Omnicorp that Murphy will retain much of his humanity. That would explain the non-robot hand, and full-face.

The only hope for this film is if the story progresses with Murphy becoming more and more mechanical, so that some point in the film we actuall *have* a RoboCop, rather than the Iron Knight Joe returns.

I wonder if they changed things? The synopsis from ComicCon said
The year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy (Kinnaman) is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Murphy’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

good that you have faith in the one person who has to do the least with the creativity, script, and costume in the movie

I agree. It's up the the writers and director, the actors can only do the best they can with what they're given and what ends up on the dvd. I have a feeling a lot of good movies have been wrecked in the editing room.

See honestly I think the suit looks badass.....if it was anything except robocop. That photo makes robo look like he's got a gut going on. They build up his torso but don't need up his arms to go along with it.

I concur. It's not a bad looking suit, but nothing about it suggests "cyborg" the way the original suit did; maybe that will come from the performance.

I like the suit. I'm not as big of a fan as I am with the original suit, but the new one, even though, looks like something from G.I. Joe or Dark knight, that just tells me it's gonna go a more "realistic" rout. BEFORE YOU FLAME ME, lemme explain! The 80s vision of the future looks like, well, the original movie. That's how the people of the 80s saw the Future of Law enforcement. Kinda like judge Dredd, the writers and artists from the 70s imagined the future with massive buildings and other crazy futuristic things. When DREDD(2012) came out, it was still futuristic, but couldn't do the original vast over the top buildings and such, because it would completely take away the feel of the future of America being a irradiated wasteland. I look at the new robo that way. Nowadays, we are making advancements in tech to the point we COULD make a Robocop from the 80s. So now, we have to look what the future looks like from now, to see what robocop would look like. In all honesty, Robo does feel more futuristic like he should, and he does look well protected, not like the original, but just enough not to make him look clunky. Dooooon't get me wrong please, I LOVE the original movie and it is one of my all time faves.

Is that a gas cap on his hip?? LOL!!

Anyone remember Superforce with Kevin Olendot?

This is like an updated version of that 90s show.

I think that's a disservice to Super Force even putting it in a thread with this stinker of a movie lol.

Honestly, that pic above, looks to me like it would be a great screen representation of the Guardsmen armor designed for SHIELD by Tony Stark.

But not a good RoboCop.

Looks a lot more like Minority Report or the Total Recall remake. Pity. It's not so much that I was looking for the original suit, but I was hoping for something new and fresh. I mean he is a cyborg, have fun with it, don't just give me futuristic armor.

I like the suit better after seeing a bigger pic of it but I still think that the all black coloring of it is too bland. Given how glossy his helmet is they should have added more glossy parts to the armor not just some parts of his arms. If they painted most of the armor a nice glossy, metallic, black or maybe a kind of pearlescent black it would look more interesting and given how the original had a bit of pearlescent sort of color to it it would make for a nice nod to the original suit too.

Being a big fan of the original, I´m a little bit scared of it. I´ve read parts of one of the drafts of the script and there´s no satire on it, one of the things that made the first one a classic.

SPOILER: RoboCop doesn´t kill people, because now he has a tazer gun.

So, don´t expect the gun twirl or "Dead or alive, you´re coming with me".

Just that tazer thing makes me think it's a satire about what a bunch of sissies we've become and how focus groups have taken over.

A director friend of mine is going to visit the set this week. He doesn't really know the original well; it was always a favorite of mine and I told him I was a bit apprehensive about the remake. He's pretty close with a major player in the film who I'll leave nameless - that guy usually takes on only cerebral and artistic projects and he apparently very interesting things to say about this one.

If you were into RoboCop for the action, like watching Commando or Tango & Cash or Predator in that era, maybe a tazer won't suffice in place of the gun. If you were most drawn to the social satire aspect, I have the impression that that element is at least mostly absent (on that measure, it's probably just as well. That's Verhoeven's gig). I guess the character stuff, the existential questions of Murphy's humanity, the Frankenstein myth sort of thing, is being done very well. It should have an exciting and organic aesthetic as well, based on this director's first (Brazilian) film. I came away a bit more enthusiastic and hopeful about the situation.

I'll try to find out a bit more from the set visit if I can - I'm not sure how much (if any) will be stuff I'm allowed to share though!

He looks like he has a gut because of the way he is sitting on the bike. He is leaning back to counterbalance his legs being back so far. But, and I hate to point this out, look at his crotch area. The rubber suit is rippled around there. Doesn't look very "robot" looking to me.
