If you're interested in the upcoming Naboo N-1. Here some promising work-in-progress announced in the recent german Revell newsletter.
Don't worry, Round2 will release their version, a year after Revell, and it won't be as good.![]()
And it will be about the same size, and maybe not as good, as the X-wing game one, I have had for years. It will come in pieces though!Strange to see those words, but... truth.
Round2 can sidestep the issue by releasing a kick-a$$ Tantive IV.![]()
As mUch as I want to support Round 2 in their SW endeavors after looking and looking it was clear the Revell RC had sharper details. For a bit I thought primer would make it look better I just saw too wide of panel lines and soft details. I found one on Amazon for 60 bucks shipped from across the pond last week and just got it today. I gotta say, even with the textture Revell did a good job. Hopefully it won’t show too bad under paint. Generally I’m an ‘in flight’ builder but I think this one is gonna be flaps open landed.
Yeah I think the texture is so minor as to be a non issue.I agree. When R2 makes a great kit, I'm the first to admit it (K'tinga, Eagle, etc), but the details and panel lines on the Revell RC are simply superior. And I know it's a subject of passionate debate, but I'll argue the texture is accurate and appropriate for the model. I've been looking endlessly at screen grabs and scenes from the show and the Razor Crest hull is not smooth. It's pitted and worn and beat to hell. I can maybe see needing an absolutely smooth surface if you were doing a factory fresh build, but who knows what an RC would look like fresh off the assembly line anyway. Besides, once you put on primer, paint, and weathering the issue is moot. If anything, the texture helps the primer and paint grab onto the model. IMHO, the texture is a non issue.
For the Standard Tie?Does anyone know if Revell's current '1:110' Tie fighter is the same as Bandai's 1:72 Tie? Link And will Revell's upcoming 1:72 TIE be different than their current 1:110 one? I think I've read a few places that the 1:110 is incorrectly labeled.
Yup standard Tie. And great info, thanks Analyzer. I just need one more Tie to complete my Vader + 2 wingman diorama from Anh. I've had a Bandai TIE PO for like almost a year, but every month it keeps getting pushed back and i really don't want to spend $60-100+ for one online so I guess I'll just keep waiting, maybe the new Revell 1:72 Tie will hit the stores first lolFor the Standard Tie?
The one that at some point was listed as "1/110" Tie is different tool than the Bandai 1/72 one ( not sure if Revell ever actually released a repacked 1/72 Bandai kit like they did other subjects). The Revell tooling is close in size to the Bandai 1/72 from what I recall ( maybe something like 1/65 or so actually)
The Revell one started out being labelled as "Pocket" kit, but then got rebranded I think as a Level 3 kit. It is pretty good, but is missing a few details like the Sherman tank part on the back near the hatch. IN any case, it is not in a standard scale regardless of what it measures out to
Revell also did a Tie Interceptor that is around 1/86 to 1/110 depending on which side of the fence you are on regarding the officla size of a tie fighter. It has very simplified surface details and is smaller than the Bandai 1/72. They have a similar sized Darth Vader tie as well in both size and simplified/missing detail, that is small than the Bandai 1/72 one. Both the Revell tooled Vader tie and Interceptor are smaller than the Revell tooled standard tie
Can you get that out of the first order kit? I've never looked at the plastic, but if it's the same TIE kit with some add on parts, it's at Amazon for $35.Yup standard Tie. I made a thread about that awhile ago actually lol sadly it's too much work and they are very differentCan you get that out of the first order kit? I've never looked at the plastic, but if it's the same TIE kit with some add on parts, it's at Amazon for $35.
