Return of the Jedi - Back in Theaters

Theater close by me has their times up. My Mom's birthday is April 29th. Parents took me to RotJ before I was two, so now 40 years later I can take them....or at least my Mom if my Dad doesn't want to go.

Pics or it didn't happen! I was there opening day in 1983, wish I had some pics.

Have a great time.

For sure! I also just found this old belt I had made years ago for a costume I never finished. Its kind of a weird mix of Luke's ROTJ belt, but I was going to wear it with a Sith inspired costume. Its way too big for me now, but I'm going to have it resized, so I can wear it next week.

Got my tickets for Sunday at 3:50 with both parents, who have no idea what movie we'll be watching. Something fun to go do.

My local theater doesn't have the May 4th showings for sale yet, and that's the day we're trying to go, frustrating! This'll be my first OT movie on the big screen, I'm excited even though it's the special edition.

I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to catch this in the theater. By chance I'm home visiting family and I checked the local theater. Sure enough there's some showings today and I got myself a ticket. This is going to be so much fun!

Return of the Jedi was the first StarWars film I saw in theaters as an 11 yr old boy, that day and the experience of seeing this film are some of my fondest memories. Funny thing, I saw it with my youngest aunt and flash forward 40 yrs I going to see it again with her and her family. Very nostalgic.

I do love the special edition ending going around the galaxy as they celebrate the apparent (wink, wink lol) demise of the Empire. I am a life long Jabba the Hutt fan and absolutely detest the Jedi Rocks addition, Latpi Nek was perfect for what it was, an odd alien disco inspired song in Jabba's palace. As for Vader's Nooooo, I could live with it if it was just said under his breath, JUST ONCE, but the 2 times was just too much.

I do have harmy's editions and a nice 100 in projection screen, but being able to watch it with my aunt one last time is just too cool.

With digital projection, I've read that movies can come on disc or even be streamed over a secure line.
So I doubt its the typical bluray player...but still, if it WAS just a player like that, I'd be like, here, play this disc instead, which would be Harmy's Despecialized edition. Theater would NEVER do it though.

Back in 2002 when I worked at the theater, with all real film projectors and music that played in the lobby and theaters not showing a movie at the moment that played off a cd. (I've probably told the story before) Since most all the music was really bad music of those early 2000s, I was able to get the cd, copy it, (it was just one long track all mixed together) cut out the real songs on an audio editor and keep the ads, then pick a bunch of music I wanted to hear and then made an hour long mix. Even had a friend make a label that looked close to the original. Had a projectionist put it back in the player....and yeah, a whole month of better songs. A few movie themes, some 60s music, electronic style songs, even a few video game remixes that were a bit hard to tell. One really nerdy guy that wasn't in on it was like, is that Megaman 2 Airman stage remixed? Were all like, no, we have no idea what you're talking about.
Some manangers were even like, theres NO way thats the real cd, but whatever. They weren't going to find out or say anything.
I found out, that had one of the corporate people from the theater, or someone who was high up in that area that got the music on those real cds had shown up to our theater and heard a fake soundtrack, the theater would have probably been in some big trouble....lol. Oh well, been 21 years later, so all good.
