Hey guys, just to show you my latest creation. I won this heavy resin lightsaber in an auction on eBay, and this is its transformation.

This is the original prop. As you can see, the covertec wheel was broken.

So I better got rid of the covertec wheel, and sanded the whole saber.

Once sanded, covered it all with Tamiya primer, and started painting the black parts. I bought a plastic covertec wheel to replace the broken one.

Then painted the whole thing with chrome silver paint, and very carefully the red button and the brass knob. All was painted with brushes. This is the end result. Hope you like it :)

Great Job! That is a real movie prop, the way they're meant to be. Hand painted too, I like it :)

question, was this one of those bagged 1:1 resin lightsaber kits on ebay? They're the ones that don't really have a brand, they're just bagged...if not, do you know anything about those, they're everywhere haha

Oooh yeah, I know those resin props (the bagged ones), but this is not of those. I bought a couple of them one day; Obi-Wan's and Mace Windu's. I painted both and sold Mace Windu's for $35 usd on eBay. I kept Obi-Wan's for my collection, until I found this one shown here. I can tell they're worth the $25 they're sold for, but they do feel quite cheap when you grab them. The resin used in those is totally white and feels more like plastic than resin. They also require a lot of sanding, and they have plenty of imperfections. There are like air bubbles everywhere, and when you sand the prop you just keep finding tiny holes everyhwere. Here is a thread I started on the junkyard for selling that Obi-Wan's saber when I bought this one shown in this thread: http://www.therpf.com/f13/obi-wan-kenobi-resin-stunt-lightsaber-cheap-163518/

Besides, the tiny cubes in the pommel are inverted. I might say those bagged sabers are good for trooping, since they're very light and you won't get mad if they break. It's like, if I had a son who wanted a prop saber, I would give him one of those :lol

By the way, this one I painted, I don't know where it came from. I bought it from someone in the UK who was apparently selling off the complete house. Though the resin feels great. It's heavy and smooth, much like eFx resin props.

looks pretty amazing to me. i'm a fan of the polished hilt version you can sometimes buy or DIY (even though its as accurate)
