Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build. McL34Ns pattern. (update 16/10/12, 99% done!)

Re: Redtogusas Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern.

For the border I mean, member what you were saying to MCL34N about the chest Spider and you thought it looked outlined to give it that raised affect, and I agree, did you do that?

Oh ok, he was saying how he did a boarder of puff paint and then filled it with a liquid silicon. I just did the whole thing in puff paint.

Re: Redtogusas Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern.

More than likely going down the puff paint road myself.
Has anyone other than MCL3AN gotten their hands on this illusive "silicon spider"?

Re: Redtogusas Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern.

Think he means the silicone mix that Mclean used to fill in his spider. Wait, he said how he did it somewhere....oh yeah, here it is:

For the chest spider I outlined each portion of the spider with puff paint, then mixed up some black silicone and very carefully filled each piece till it kind of "bubbles"

Yeah I remember that, for some reason I thought when he said silicon spider he meant the back spider. All these Spidey suit threads are messing with my brain

Re: Redtogusas Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern.

Redtogusa.
Yes thats what I meant.
Sorry for not being very clear.
I was under the impression that someone made him a silicon spider that he glued on.
Guess it was a silicon mix.

Re: Redtogusas Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern.

So did you wear it out this weekend? Any pics?

Re: Redtogusas Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern.

I think it's deep red puffy paint, that's what I've heard anyway

Re: Redtogusas Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern.

El Fett, not last weekend mate, it's this weekend I need it ready for. Think I'll make it but only by the skin of my teeth.

7sinzz, since your from the UK I'm guessing your looking at the Dylon 3D paint. That one is too light, yes. It comes out looking pretty orange. Stick with the tulip brand.

Redtogusa.
I literally dreamt this up and tried as soon as I woke up.
Works like a charm!
I am now stress free until I have to worry about lighting up web shooters.
This is a Spiderman shirt I got from Target.

Wow, great idea. I may be totally wrong but my only concern is with the paint being so thin that on the lycra it will seep right through and disappear. I've got some thin patches that I have to go over that almost look as though I never painted them.
But like I said I might be totally wrong. You've managed to get some really nice clean lines with it for sure. Really nice.

Red mate your making me want to get a spidey suit, stop it :p

Better get selling some more helmets brother. :)
As your sig suggested I do, I went and watched your YouTube vids. Nice work mate. Your helmets are just soooo good.

Haha that is exactly accurate!!! I feel like you just read my mind lol. I've already ordered it. I'll have to try source the correct colour. If anyone can provide a reliable link for the correct colour that delivers overseas. Average how many pots I will require. That would be fantastic.

Ha. I did the same. Got 6 small bottles of the Dylon which are useless to me now.

For the Tulip I bought them from eBay:
Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paint 4 oz. - Puffy Red | eBay

They're 4oz each. I bought 4 bottles but have barely used 2 for the entire suit.

Powerhouse70 seems to be having luck with his needle syringes.
And hannziva is using really cool metal puffy paint screw on to the bottle attachments.
I definitely see what you are saying about the lines being so thin it looks like they haven't been painted yet. Still no print in the mail so we shall see.
Should I put cardboard underneath while painting?
Or Syran Wrap?

Does anyone know of an online place to get the patterns printed in the UK?

Dye sublimation or something?

What format file do they accept?
