Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build. McL34Ns pattern. (update 16/10/12, 99% done!)

Re: Redtogusas Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern.

The suit is looking soooooo good! Nice work! If you have a look around youtube theres a load of helpful videos on loosing excess body fat and toning up, im currently doing some of it over the summer, eating a load of brocoli and plain chicken breast as well as daily cardio is probably the best thing for it!

Re: Redtogusas Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern.

You're individually drawing honeycomb shapes? That would take forever! Surely, I'm not understanding correctly. What am I missing here?

Your not missing anything. You hit the nail on the head. :thumbsup

Excellent advice for the long term but I need to be in shape for next weekend so today I took drastic measures.
No not surgery. :lol

So it wasn't that drastic, I went into town and picked up a cheap blue lycra onepiece from a costume shop, some duct tape and a sports undersuit for good measure. The result? Not bad if you ask me:

This should also solve the legs showing through problem. I can't try the suit on for now as the paint on it is drying but maybe by this evening I'll be able to give it a bash.

cheers.

Re: Redtogusas Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern.

This is completely amazing, very inspiring work.

I'm quite new here, so forgive any silly questions.

But I've read the entire thread and notice you mention that you can buy the lycra suit with printing? Can you direct me to where I can do this?

Re: Redtogusas Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern.

Or that! Haha! Yeah that looks like it should work awesome, and solve the leg problem! Just hope it doesn't get too warm! Im hoping i can buy a print and start a suit around september, so i have plenty of time to try and get in shape!

Look awesome! Do you have any special technique for the webbing, or just steady hands? I've been practicing and can't get a straight line to save my life! Haha

Re: Redtogusas Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern.

Makes me want to buy a print for mcLean so bad..

Awesome work mate ;)

Re: Redtogusas Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern.

I reach dork levels of excitement anytime this thread updates! Lookin good man, can't wait to see how it ends up. Did you get the face shell as well?

Re: Redtogusas Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern.

Looking really good man, great work be keeping an eye out for future updates. Great Job!

Re: Redtogusas Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern.

Did you put a boarder around the chest spider? It looks like you did and looks good

I struggled with the webbing at first too. You can get a more steady line by holding the nozzle/tip just above the fabric and keep the pressure on to get a constant stream of paint coming out. Don't dab at it, keep moving.
Hope that makes sense.

No I haven't got one atm. If I have time I may attempt to make one.

Not quite sure what you mean. If you mean did I put a boarder round the spider with the red paint no I didn't.

Thanks again guys. Means a lot.

Bought a kids Spiderman shirt at Target for practice.

I am.....discouraged.:facepalm
There has got to be another way.

I may be wrong but I think you need to lay the paint on a little thicker. Don't be afraid to put it on slightly thicker than looks right. As the paint drys it absorbs into the fabric which thins it. Also I'd imagine the paint will sit differently on cotton as opposed to lycra. The Lycra will absorb it even more.

For the border I mean, member what you were saying to MCL34N about the chest Spider and you thought it looked outlined to give it that raised affect, and I agree, did you do that?

Thanks for the tip! I'll keep practicing. :)
