Re: Red Skull costume progess
Had a good run yesterday.
The weather was around 73degrees with a little humidity.
A little overcast; and it rained off and on throughout the day.
I trooped for an hour and a half before we knew it; and I was doing just fine in the coat/mask. Sure, sweat pretty good, but the coat was not near as hot as it was on my June 9th trip. I DID punch a half dozen holes under the left armpit; did not punch under the rightside armpit because I didn't like how it looked. Maybe, just maybe those vents released a fair amount of heat and really helped me...or it was just a good weather day...only time will tell I guess.
My wife stitched my shoulder badges on real quick, just so I could see how they looked in random photos/videos. I'll prolly have to glue them to the coat, or make a permanant patch to affix them to. being completely attached to the coat, just looks far better than having them only stitched in a couple spots.
Gonna go bold for this next sentance;
OH my goodness - this coat material is weird.
I
carefully folded it up, and put it in my rubbermaid tote with some of the Iron Man armor. The tote was in my air conditioned SUV for the 2.5 hour drive.
I unpacked as soon as i got to my destination; only to find the coat
stuck to the Iron Man armor! :angry :angry
I had to peel it apart and some of the coat was left attached to the armor.
SAME darn thing that happened to me on my June 9th trip, but I figured it was because I had it in the hot trunk of my car.
Ya really have to look at the coat to tell...and the black material scraped off Iron Man with my fingernail...but what the hell folks...do I have to rub this coat down with talc or something??
Those of you who have followed this thread should remember my complaint about odor...a really strong chemical smell to the coat; which has finally worn off 99.9%. I wonder if it was some sort of sealant to the coat since it is synthetic leather?? I know this coat was shipped in a bag; folded every which way but loose, and it didn't give any hint of sticking together after being on its journey to me.
I dunno...sucks that I have to be THAT darn careful with it. I'll prolly sew up a fleece bag that I can slip over the coat while on a coat hanger...kinda like how your dry cleaner wraps your shirts. That way, the coat is covered and I can fold it to itself without the actual coat material touching itself.
Now.
Let me tell you how the crowd responded -
fear.
Oh my gosh folks, I was pretty unprepared for the crowd's reaction to red Skull.
I trooped as Darth Vader for over ten years..sure, I had that occassional kid who shy'ed away, wanting NOTHING to do with vader...
but Red Skull..this outfit...just the sight of me made kids cry.
Now, I'm not talking little, little kids...I am talking kids, mostly boys, from around ages 8-12yrs old.
People were in so much awe; adults would come up and just stare...trying to tell if it was a mask or facial appliances.
Some women didn't want anything to do with me either; which was a change. Typically, especially Iron Man, my outfits are chic-magnets :lol
One lady actually ASKED me to step out of the camera view - she only wanted her picture taken with Iron Man. She didn't want Red Skull in the shot because she was going to show the photo to her kids later.
Soo...a little mixed emotions for me.
The suit DID what it was supposed to do I reckon :angel
There were a few guys, 18-23yrs old who didn't know who i was. When I told them, then told them the show comes out next months; they were like, "Ohh man! BET. We are soo there dude!".
Well, neat. They had no idea who Red Skull was...and now, they are excited about seeing a movie which they had no care for five minutes ago. :thumbsup
Long enough story - on to a boatload of pics for ya'll:
Gimmie some sugar baby! lmao
Hmm...how to say, "I'm Sorry"....
Hey, Shut that damn door!
