Quakevirus Predator Build Wip - Suit Up Pics And Video Pg 8

Quakevirus, that is FREAKIN FANTASTIC! For your first skin, first airbrush job, you really nailed it. I love the colors you used and the subtle shadding from one color to the next. Awesome job, can't wait to see your mask painted up. Keep the pictures coming and how you did things. It really helps those of us who are close to starting a build but still feel a bit intimidated.

Oh, what brand of paints are you using?

Thanks guys! Here's a little more info on the paint up. The colors I used were White, Black, Hunters Green, Yellow, Red. first I layed down a base layer of white with the HVLP gun. I got a nice even coating with it. Then with the airbrush, I started with yellow to do the edges of the muscle bulges. after that I started filling in the bulk of the suit and shoulders with the Hunters green. Then, blended the green in with the yellow. Then I added a light coating of red to darken the spin/shoulder area. For the Spots I just used the airbrush, no templates. I reduced the flow of the paint and layed out all the spots. after that I lightly dusted over all the spot areas with black to blend them in. A few touch ups, then I sealed it with some Perma-wet.

And the paint that I used was a cheap Interior Acrylic Satin paint( I think the brand name is homefront) It's basically the same thing as creatix or liquitex artist acrylic accept that the pigment content isn't as rich as the higher priced stuff. I mixed it with pros-aide and a little of water and it worked great! no flaking, it's on there good.

Thanks for the update. Could you, when you get a chance, post a picture of the paints? I keep getting this mental image that you used house paint in a can when you say "Interior Acrylic Satin paint"!

Again, suit looks awesome.

I have no idea why they added the "Interior" to the name of the paint. Confused me at first when I was looking at it. Then I read the contents. This is the stuff that I used. It's basically the same as the liquitex. with the exception of pigment content. http://www.amazon.com/Homefront-Decorator-Interior-Satin-Acrylic/dp/B000XCO4HU "House paint" is Acrylic Latex paint, totally different when they add the latex to it. Acrylic paint and pros-aide all they way.

Thanks again man,

I should have bent sintra for ya'll to look at a bit later tonight. :D I just killed my heat gun too...

O.K. thanks for the link. I have the Apple Barrel brand in abundant supply here. I just wanted to make sure I had the right type of paint.

Looks like the same stuff just a different label.

Ok here's what I've gotten done so far with the armor. I would have gotten more done but my heat gun made a loud pop and started smoking right when I was finishing the bells.. Will be borrowing another one today to finish the sintra cutting and bending up of the thighs and shins tonight.

Been a busy weekend. I'll keep it short, I finished cutting and bending all of the armor pieces(minus the gauntlets and I'm leaving the edging off of the thigh plates and shins because of personal preference) and I even whipped up some nifty shin guards by reusing some of Vinman's Thigh Templates(thanks again for making these). I'm now ready to smooth out the edges a bit and start assembling all of this. :)

Thanks for looking guys and possibly gals. :)

looks freaking good!! great job on the paint-up again, also congrats on the Armour.. looking like a pro made it so far! test fit it on the suit yet??? now what's on the to-do list, painting it next?

Thanks and thanks man!! First I mocked up all the templates on the skin to make sure they were the right scale before I cut it all out of the sintra. Then I test fitted the pieces to the skin as I shaped them with the heat gun, so far so good. Next on the to-do list is

In no particular order:

1. to smooth out the edges of ALL of the plates and lightly sand each plate so that the paint will stick, but before I paint it up.

2. I was tossing around the idea of adding some predator writing to the armor itself, I'll have to make a decision on whether or not to add the writing before the paint up.

2a. Paint up and weather armor.

3. Assemble the armor, hidden straps will be elastic or canvas (material used will be determined by how much give I need each part to have.) Visible straps will be made of leather.

4. Paint up the P1 mask (should be in tomorrow)

5. Order dreads from Corey (sending money Tomorrow)

6. start and finish gauntlets.

7. Rework Bio to Blend better with AVP armor

8. Start assembling various trophies and weapons.

I'm sure there is something I'm missing...

Oh yeah..Hands and Feet...

Again, fantastic work. Looking forward to seeing what you dod with the guantlets. How are you going to tackle them?

The gauntlets are going to be most likely made from Sintra aswell. well mostly sintra, maybe some other odds and ends.. They are on the list. lol

Small update, Got my mask from Corey today!!!! and I love it!! I cleaned up the edges a bit. Will be painting this guy up in the next couple days.

Finally a face to the beast. :D

Thanks for looking! (y)

lol riight! I made my wife try it on for me first. ;)

Seriously, the mask is a great choice. This is going to be a kick arse suit. Oh, and yeah, I'll be picking your brain for sure (from the RPF)! Looking forward to your progress!

Haha just a seriously sexy mental picture.

Pics, or it didn't happen! :)

There is another body net there, it might look better as it is a larger knit. The model name is Shawanna, she is on bottom right.

Didn't happen..It came off too fast. ;)

uuuuuhhh... thanks for THAT link!
Seriously though. I used just fishnet thigh-highs that kept falling down. This solves that problem. Leave it to stripper technology. Woo!

No prob bro! Gotta love them dancers!

On to the update!

I started assembling some of the armor. this shot is of the shoulder area. I used a about 6 pop rivets to hold the pec plates and the main body together.

This a sheet of Predator Runes I made out of Cut Vinyl. I used the photo that Predatr-Huntr ( probably spelled that wrong) posted in the other forum. I converted them to vector and sent them to the cutter. I have a couple more sheets laying around. Probably going to stick them on my truck too. :)
IMG_20111213_183108-1.jpg

I stuck a few of the glyphs on the armor, so that when I paint over it they will be slightly raised pred glyphs strategically placed on the armor. :) Still some minor bondo work to do around the pec edges.

Doing the Mask Paint up tonight! :D

Looking great so far!! Have you test fitted the armor on the skin while wearing it yet? just to make sure it won't be too tight in areas when you do put it on?
Keep em updates coming!
cheers
