I imagine the person issuing the refund didn't want to feel like
he was giving money back to a customer who would just repair the pistol
and then have both his money and a free pistol.

That's what I thought as well.

And as I figured that he was good enough to give me my money back, I sure as hell would do a good enough job of destroying the pistol the way he asked me to.

Seemed only fair to me.

I wasn't looking for a free ride.
