QMX Malcolm Reynolds Metal-Plated Pistol Replica

I got my replacement from QMx and it's MUCH better! The person working this did a much better job sanding, there's hardly any seam lines at all, no bubbles, and the barrel looks great!

I recently received my replacement after the original's barrel was broken clean off at delivery.

The barrel on the replacement is twisted as many of us have experienced. I'm not happy about it, but it's not bad enough that I want to go through another exchange.

QMX has an interesting policy in this matter and I'm not quite sure what their reasoning is. I ordered 2, 1 was ok and the other had a barrel bent upwards. I guess because I'm outside the US, they figured it was easier just to send me a replacement and did not ask me to return the defective one. So essentially I now have 3. In addition, QMX gave me a $5 rebate onto my credit card. I was totally blown away by the gesture. I wonder if this is their policy on international orders and/or quantities ordered? All I know is I did pretty well on this. QMX will keep me coming for more.:cool:thumbsup:thumbsup

Yeah, they are certainly owning up to their mistake and are making good. The ones that are wonky are not worth them taking back... they would just go in the trash bin anyway so shipping it back would be a waste of money. Sideshow often does the same thing.

Sean,

I saw someone who mentioned how they did the barrel fix. Now I can't remember who. However, if that doesn't work, get in touch and we can send you a new one.

I'd say it's twisted about 15 or 20 degrees. I'll probably end up correcting it myself.

Thank you for the offer, but I already had to return it once due to a broken barrel. The replacement was supposedly inspected prior to shipment, but somehow the warped barrel was still missed. At this point, it's not worth it to me to send it back yet again in hopes of getting a better one.

Obviously, the warped barrels are getting through inspection, so you may want to let the pertinent parties know to check for that.

wow -- a SECOND one is sent and STILL bad?

NO excuse for that.

C'mon Qmx -- what the HEY HEY?

They should send you another one out IMMEDIATELY without you having to send the other one back AND they should throw in a free poster or Firefly keychain or some other freebie -- THAT would be good customer service, not trying to direct you to n article on how to fix their poorly made merchandise.

Cripes...Qmx...tsk tsk tsk -- shame on you.

Hey Sean,

Even still, I'm gonna PM you for order details. I'd like to look into this myself. I'm sure a few people on this thread know I take this stuff personally.

;-)

By way of explanation ;-)

My suggestion of a link was't me blowing him off. Considering I've already had 2 people on this board either kit up their pistol or fix the barrel twist themselves, I don't take for granted that they can't do this sort of thing or won't.

And I can't send anything without order details. Or images. So I'm working on getting those.

Believe me, no one's taking this lightly.

Sean,

Tried to PM. Ran into an issue. Says your mailbox is full. ;-(

Hey there, I am new here and this is my first post.

I also bought one of these guns, and I was extremely happy with it. A great prop for the price that I paid for it. Here’s a picture I took, when it was still OK.

So I put it on the display stand that comes with it, and it fell off. When it fell, the barrel of the gun came off. Naturally my first instinct was to try and glue it back on, using model glue. But all that did was damage the paintjob.

Now I am not worried about the paintjob, I can fix that. But before reading the messages here I had no idea what to do about the barrel.

I have however sent a message to both QMX and the German re-seller Fistco that I bought it from.

I thought I might as well post here as well, as there seems to be a pretty good response from QMX to this site.

Use 2-part epoxy glue. Model glue only works on polystyrene plastic. If you're feeling adventurous, drill a hole in the barrel and in the gun frame and insert a thin metal rod (1/4-1/2 is enough) before you glue it to "pin" it together and it create a stronger pond. (Google "pinning miniatures" for more info.)

Fistco gave me a full refund!

But as a requirement for that he asked me to smash the other one up with a hammer. Man it felt bad doing that... :cry

But I have ordered a new one from QMX now.
