My wife and I think that Shawn is adopted and that Mr Yang might be his biological mother.
Weird that Shawn doesn't remember her. He had a great memory so why hasn't he remembered her?

It's a good theory. But if true, it'd be very revisionist. The kid in the photo has played young shawn in the series - obviously - and if he knew that was his mother, you'd think it would've worked it's way into the show by now if that was part of his background all along.
Also if true, he's got some effed up biological parents. Pair of killers? Yikes.
The episode where Yang tried to kill his mother is like 2 years old, so i can't recall if they explained any connection between them or not. I'd like to know why there's a picture of her with young shawn.

They mentioned that color get's her excited but later we see that she has a red ball??? Shawn's parents were divorced so it might be a secret on his Mom's side. Like I said, it's a good theory and certainly plausible. Just saying, it strikes me as something they just came up with as opposed to something they had planned from the get go.

Yeah, I'm just guessing but it's all I can come up with. She's Mr. Yang because they never knew it was a woman until they saw her. The killer was called Mr. Yang.
It might explain why Shawn's father was so intent on him learning skills and teaching him right and wrong so diligently.

I think the bigger question is whether they pick it up where they left off come june, or if they stretch it out like the time between yang and yin. That was 1-2 years apart with nothing about it in between.
I really like it as a story idea. Just seems a waste to have referenced it in only 2 shows out of what? 80? if that was the plan all along. Even if it was the plan from the time they created Sheedy's character.
