Prometheus (Post-release)

For those wondering about David's head position. There was a scene cut showing the Juggernaught interior during the crash sequence. The Engineer is shown to be thrown from his cockpit chair during the collision.

...how do you get thrown out of a chair like that?

Kit, I'm not sure posting pictures is enough to convince people that David's head and body actually moved after the crash. I stated some 30 pages ago that they moved from the platform to the wall. I think they're going to want video. Then, even then, it won't be enough, they will want to be transported virtually into the film. Even then, I don't think they will accept that the head and body were moved.

WEYLAND
There is nothing.

Weyland kept repeating "There's nothing" a few times before he died iirc...(was almost asleep by the end of the film must admit)
It reminded me a lot of dying Col. Kurtz saying "The horror... the horror..." at the end of APOCALYPSE NOW...

What am I doing in this thread btw... Must get out of here !

:facepalm

Exact diologue.

WEYLAND
There's nothing.

(almost inaudible - nothing, noth-ing, no-thing)

DAVID
I know. Have a good journey, Mr. Weyland.

That repeating Weyland voice had a very weird sound to it, almost like we were hearing a recording waaay in the background, but Weyland's head was right beside David's.

And seriously, you guys are arguing about weather or not David's head should have moved after the crash? Who cares? :facepalm

Not us - the broadly pro-Prometheus side - I think; but we do think it is symptomatic of something on the opposing team. A desire (or need, almost) to find reasons to hate or decry the film. They keep bringing up this false assertion, we keep saying 'that's daft, use yer eyes!'. :lol

Had no issue with it, the head thing, as far as I remember.

Indeed. If the issue is symptomatic of anything it's the 'pro-Pometheus' camp's inference that because it's a non-issue due to inattentiveness (which it is), then other more overt and problematic issues must also be non-issues due to inattentiveness (which they aren't).

And on a lighter note, a link to the abridged Prometheus script:

Not an inference, that's exactly the argument some are making. Again, I too deplore the various genuine stupidities which detract from the film. But inventing stupidities? Where's the need? Anyway, not something you or Carson have done as best I recall.

For someone who's a stickler for the correct spelling of Advacnded I'll have to demote you from supreme overlord correction master to just overlord correction master... unless... you were referring to someone else. .P

It is funny how people will happily sit through the cartoon physics and characterization of something like The Avengers but will take umbrage at the science of Prometheus if they don't like it as a film overall (for my money, they're both good films).

I saw an interesting debate on someone else's FB wall the other day... one of the people attacking Prometheus eventually fessed up and said, "look, I thought this was going to be a monster movie with guns and the alien. Instead, I got a film I had a hard time following". Fair enough, and I completely respect people who don't like this movie, but some of the comments I've heard (not here) have been, well, I don't know...Prometheus is more Solaris than AvP and I don't think everyone's comfortable with that.

Well, that certainly wasn't my complaint. I liked where it deviated from Alien - I hated the AvP movies - but disliked where it looked like they were forcing in unneeded links to Alien, stuff stolen from AvP and the cliche horror story stuff that felt so out of place to the story trying to be told.

The less is more regarding the creatures if you want to make them mysterious is the way to go... not in-your-face retarded. Just makes them come off as incompetent, same as the human characters... and I generally don't care for movies where I feel I'm smarter than characters that are supposed to be pretty damn smarter than me.

Anyone who was hoping Prometheus would be another AVP really need to be put out of the misery...

Agreed. Absolutely agreed. Even though it did steal things from that first one... AvP is the worst thing it could have attempted being like... YIKES. GROSS.
