In the commentary for the FARSCAPE episode Jeremiah Crichton, Ben Browder, Claudia Black, Rockne O'Bannon and David Kemper have a hilarious discussion about how the guys attempted to get Claudia's clothes off in an episode.
Browder spins this elaborate tale of BS to justify why Aeryn needed to take off her clothes and fight 3 "evil guards" while completely nude.
First off, there's a good chance that they were all joking. One of the things about Ben and company, they love joking around when it comes to talking about the show. Hell, one time, Ben described the show as, "The kind of show where even
Stark could get pregnant, and you're left wondering who left the room hitching up their pants afterwards." There's other interviews and questions they've answered in public where the cast and crew have joked around playfully. Heck, I saw Virginia Hey jokingly spanking a few fans during the
Farscape panel at DragonCon and recalling some of the funny moments of the show (and frankly, it wouldn't be
Farscape panel without those two things happening).
But I think
Farscape shouldn't be included in this post as the sexuality was a part of the show's overall design. I mean, the difference between
Farscape and the bit with Hoshi losing her top in
Enterprise is the fact that sexuality is designed and present in
Farscape while
Star Trek in general barely has sexuality in one show by itself (even if you combined all the episodes that feature sexuality from all the shows, all the scenes together wouldn't equal the amount featured in
Farscape, because
Star Trek isn't design for sexuality to be as present). The difference between the nudity and sex scene in the
Dawn of the Dead remake (which I made reference to) and the film of
Basic Instinct is that
Basic Instinct was purposefully designed with sexuality as a part of its core design, whereas the
DOTD remake had it in there just because they could (and possibly because to make sure that the film had an R-Rating).
If you guys feel that I'm wrong and that
Farscape should be included, then the OP needs to edit the original post to include stories that are purposefully designed include sex and sexuality in the work, as the original post implies scenes that were just purposefully written and thrown in because it was expected, when sex and sexuality was not a part of the initial design from the get-go).
