Limited Run Oblivion Movie Rifle - Second Run Capped!

Still patiently waiting for mine
PM sent.

Ok everyone, at this point, sound off! Did the package get to you? If your still waiting, let me know and I will track them, but I want to make sure everyone got there stuff, from that first run please.

Tracking says it's in Australia customs, fingers crossed!

Well got a letter from Customs yesterday dated 4th of July. It has been seized and will be forfeited and destroyed unless I can convince them otherwise.

I have the permit application filled out for the Police, so need to send that, hopefully get the import permit, and send it to Customs along with a Claim for Return of Seized Goods form. Customs has described it as "One imitation M4 rifle" and seized on the grounds of being a "suspected prohibited import".

I have 30 days from the 4th of July to get it sorted or it goes bye-bye.

Not very happy really.

That sucks!!! Well that just settled something for me, no more shipments to Australia. Man...what a crap situation. Keep me informed. :(

It may be OK once I get the permit (or if I get it). If the police say it's OK then Customs has to release it. The laws vary from state to state and it is the Federal Customs people who have grabbed it, not the Customs office locally. It can depend a bit on which Customs person is doing the checking too I think. Some I suspect are just nit-picky. The weird thing is a replica cast Calico came through with no issues. Anyway fingers crossed.

Received my rifle thanks Mal, it's better than I could have imagined thanks for all the hard work & effort that you put in producing such an amazing item a true masterpiece.

Just for info I received mine in the UK without any problems or hassle from Customs & also (which makes a change) without any extra customs charges or import duties. I can't wait to make a start on it now :)

And you think your gun laws are tough? LOL

Crap on a cracker.

Maybe putting a link to the replica build might help. clearly a kit that makes a fantasy replica display piece for a collector. They'd see for sure it's not something you just are making a story up about.

They aren't really swayed by things like that. I have included a full description of the kit along with its purpose and photos of the parts showing it has no barrel, no way to chamber a round and no firing mechanism. Also a photo of the assembled kit showing it's clearly made of plastic. If the Police Weapons Licensing people say it's OK then Customs has to release it, so it's them I have to convince and not a Customs officer.

There was always a chance this would happen and something we deal with all the time. A different Customs guy on a different day and the result might have not have been an issue.

That sux as I have a rifle coming this way too. Can you put a hold, on sending mine Mal. Will see if Peters gets through first.

Hmmm, well I seem to have missed the second round somehow too. If there's a third please let me know :)

Thanks,
L

Small Update! Everything is very slow going as a new day job and comic con San Diego have derailed things a bit. Patience and perseverance!

You said it, I can't wait to get this kit but you must do what you have to do. I know the wait will be worth it.

2nd attempt at posting this.

Yay! I got my import permit from the police weapons licensing branch today. I have filled in the "claim for return of seized goods" form and sent it along with the permit to Customs. I still have a week and a half (2nd of August) before the deadline so it should be released and sent on to me. Looks like sanity has prevailed.

Of course this in my state of Queensland. The police in other states may not be forthcoming with a permit due to tighter restrictions on "replicas".

Hopefully in a week or so it should arrive.
