Limited Run Oblivion Movie Rifle - Second Run Capped!

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle - Taking Final Payments!

Mal, Payment sent.
Had a look at switch - closest match I can see is a Cherry PR - this is more cost again, so I think folks should be giving you an extra 15$ for the functioning light (as this will be the cost of parts at least)

Invalid Request

There are quite a lot of decals needed for the rifle, so if anyone (armoredbursh?) needs help with reference material let me know

That's the Digikey switch, price per one is around $1.20

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle - Taking Deposits!

All you need to do is go down to the local police station and fill out the form for shipping a replica model gun kit. The local Police Chief must approve the form. You scan it and email the form to the Shipper. I printed out the form and enclosed it in the full package. The shipping documents were clearly marked resin inert model gun kit. It arrived no problem to the OZ. If anyone opened the package and inspected - they could clearly see to was not a firearm but a gun shaped model kit. The per-approval form the local police covered the entire process. I just shipped an M76 S&W Machine gun replica resin kit last year. No Problems.

Gordon

Hey Gordon. I don't think it will be an issue but I have a month to get the form if the kit is seized which I don't think it will be. The import permit is obtained by sending an application to the Weapons Licensing Branch of my state police. It just has to be presented (by mail) to Customs if need be at this end on arrival. Permission to import can be allowed or disallowed depending on which you live in here.

LAST UPDATE! - BEFORE CASTING THAT IS!

As promised, here is the last build stuff, I'm getting the casting underway and I'm being delayed by a larger pressure pot on order, hope to have it by weeks end, fingers crossed!

The trigger mechanism glued into place finally! Was waiting on a spring for the clip release.

The spring to make this work was crazy hard to find. But so worth it! Press the release, and the piece moves out to drop the clip.

Let go and the release button springs back in.

Push the clip in

And the clip release lever holds it in place!

I still forgot this rod, but I'll include this in the kit, don't worry. ::) Also the Sling mount there is resin and I haven't tested it yet with the sling, so not sure if it will hold. You could probably buy the real metal one and mount it, there's plenty of resin to screw it to.

If you look carefully, you can see the inner ridges of the gun thru the holes, this detail was one of the things that plagued me for a while. I finally decided to just mold this part of the actual gun. It came in handy as there are clips that slide onto the top rail to hold the upper shells in place.

Finally got the scope wheel made right. It took a 3D print from shapeways and some finessing.

There are some gaps on the piece that I couldn't stop. Maybe with some sanding on everyone's end, you guys can make it prettier then I did for mine.

To mount the switches I marked the bottom front shell with sharpie. (sorry for the blurry photo)

These are the switches I found, but I am looking into the digikey ones, it's just pricier then the ones I ordered from China. I'll compare both when I get them in hand.

LED wiring 2 by malsfantasyfactory, on Flickr

This is the LED light in the front, it's really small, but VERY bright. It has a separate focusing lens that helps make it even brighter. (again, sorry for blurry photo)

LED wiring 3 by malsfantasyfactory, on Flickr

This is the light wired in, but not glued in yet. I actually hot glued mine in and it's still holding so far.

LED wiring 4 by malsfantasyfactory, on Flickr

This is the crazy wiring trick I did on the front to make the LED work. It runs onm a 9 volt that I glued into the gun housing. On the actual airsofts, I'm not sure where you guys will be able to hide this.

The switch closest to the trigger is the LED one, the other one is a dummy. (Unless you have a winch system hooked up to your folding bike, then by all means hook this switch up!)

So on to the casting of parts! I have some of the smaller stuff underway, but I'm making gang molds to handle the sheer number of buttons I have to make! :lol I'll be updating in a week or so as I get part batches done and once I get the weights down for shipping costs. Keep those payments coming in, almost there!

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle - Taking Final Payments!

Awesome update Mal, I will be sending that item out to you this weekend! :)

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle - Taking Final Payments!

Just incredible! I can hardly wait! :thumbsup

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle - Taking Final Payments!

I wanted to ask if you plan to do another run of this rifle?

I missed out on the run of 20! Bummer but I did get in on the pistol run though offered on a different thread! :)

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle - Taking Final Payments!

UPDATE! - Ok folks, I updated the paid list and I notice a few still unpaid on their final payment, please get that in!! I was delayed by a pressure pot, but the 10 gallon monster finally arrived and I'm modifying it to handle the large castings! The Halloween ship date I fear will not be made, especially for the international orders, but I am progressing. The Halloween season always hits me with last minute stuff, and I hope none of you will begrudge me some Halloween fun? After all, I really want to enter the costume contest and I have no time to make a costume, ARRGGHHH!!! :) I hope everyone is well and I will post pics of parts soon!

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle - Taking Final Payments!

All that extra work you put in was so worth it! Looks amazing! Thanks Mal will send the rest my payment!

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle - Taking Final Payments!

Update on the decals. I am super close on finishing the last detail decals.
I have been having an issue on one of the sections. (see bellow) Super hard to read from the screen shots I have got.
If anyone could help me get a clearer screen grab I would be much appreciated!

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle - Taking Final Payments!

Is it me or does it look like 1, 2 and 3?

There are also some great reference pics (although I'm not sure how accurate they are) here.
