During Leia's rescue, Obi-Wan used this comlink to communicate with Tala. It is based actually in a Kodak Service Rangefinder

They are hard to find and I was able to get a hold on one. Since I know they are going hard to get, I 3D modeled:

Planning to make this model very ASAP. You can check a cool video here:

Yeah, modelling those parts right now. Top part seems to be a M6 countersunk washer and the side greeble, well, that's another history. They covered the scale and the Kodak brand with those additional parts

I have been looking for the correct "washer" and found two possible found objects that could do a great job, but didn't find the correct shape or size. One of the is a neodymium ring and the other one is a countersunk washer. Both around 20mm with a M6 hole o 5mm hole...

What do you think? Is there anything else I am missing? with this shape I mean.

I wash looking at cup washers, possibly for skateboards. I was also thinking maybe a steel cup part that would hold a traditional magnet.
I haven't checked sizes though because I don't have my range finder yet - it's coming from the UK.

Yeah, I checked on those cup washers you mentioned, but they are too curvy. Will do a second pass. 20mm should be the diameter. 3mm for thickness. Hole is about 6.5mm or so

Try looking at bar turned washers, the have squarer sides. There are also listings on eBay for custom washers when you search for those.

How about these, 6m x 20, can specify 3mm thickness

M6 washer is smaller is diameter according schematics.

Doing some field research. Magnets are great, but, ID is 5mm and they are 4mm thick. OD is 20mm, which is great, but hole is quite small. You can tell the difference and It is standard. About skateboard cup washer, they are huge and curvy. They are about 23mm in diameter and very tall, more than 5mm. Could not check on countersunk aluminum washers yet. Still looking locally...

Well, I revisited the washer model and realized that I did it wrong. Somehow, I managed to see it cylindrical but I was a little bit conical. So I fixed the model and re-printed that part. Now I pretty sure that magnet is out the equation here and probably the countersunk washer too, leaving space for the cup washer theory. Will keep looking that way.
