Before I started the NX-08 Dauntless, this was the project I was working on. It has been shelved for the time being as the welding fx kit and misc lighting costs are holding me back.
she's in my closet waiting to be completed.

here is what I have so far:

This was my first scratchbuild, I know it doesnt stand up when inspected up close.... :(

What material used?

mostly cardstock, thats why it looks so rough around the edges.
Looking back on it, I'm not at all satisfied with it and know I can do better.

I couldnt afford styrene at the prices its sold for. The plastruct pieces alone cost me over $100 so I had to make due with what I had.

knowing what I do now, I'm going to rebuild from scratch after the NX refit is completed and probably double the size. My main mistake was that I didnt have a plan to work from, So I kept changing my mind as I built it.

I'm working on deck plans now that I'll be able to take to the printers and spray glue onto 1/8" balsa. eveything will fit as intended and will be built with lighting in mind (my other mistake)

Overall, my lesson learned from this was ALWAYS PLAN AHEAD!

WOW I especially like the interior detail and the fact that it looks like a real ship under construction.

Nice work.

For cheap styrene sheet go to the hardware store and get "For Sale" signs, they come in different thickness's.

Thanks, I found those; it's the ladders, trusses and "I" beams I need.

If anyone knows where to buy that stuff in bulk, I'm all ears, because plastruct and evergreen's prices are exorbitant.
