Nike MAG replicas (V2 and V3 only)

Well well, putting a little bit of clear spraypaint on with a cotton tip (sprayed clear into the can lid, dabbed cotton tip in and spread carefully over) works wonders for the V3 cloudy ankle buckle

you can even see there are letters there (indicating which colour LED go on the circuit board perhaps?)

looks awesome! What kind of spraypaint did you use? How thick did you put on?

Thanks!

Not too bad an idea but I would just give the V3s a couple of coats of sea glow first to get rid of any yellowing then use the dye and sea glow but with a much smaller proportion of dye so it has the ever slightest hint of blue. You wouldnt want them as blue as these foams are cause in the end whats the point? I doubt the dye is UV resistant
I wouldn't use half as much dye as he used I'd really sprinkle a touch. He poured a good but in his LOL but again I'm not experienced in that field at all so I wouldn't do it anytime soon.

i dyed the soles on my hc's with sole bright and their blue leather dye. It works but after your soles yellow the blue also changes. I just redyed them the other day. Just be careful because they will go dark real quick.

did you use a lot of dye?

please. I would buy about 10 of these.

For the amount of pairs you've bought they should be throwing it in at no extra charge lol

No it was sky blue in color when I applied it. Then rinsed it off after I finished applying to the other sole. So maybe 3 minutes total. I also used the sole bright by itself a couple times to lighten it up before dying but it bleached the paint. Wasn't a big deal since I was planing to repaint them. Just be careful.

Almost had a meltdown last night. First time I've had to charge my shoes - so it goes without saying that it was not very straight forward in getting the charging process to begin. Plug in, press ankle button, repeat until shoes light up X2.

Left the shoes to charge for a few hours and upon unplugging them the right shoe stopped lighting up. Kept pressing the on/off button as gently as one can when they're having a mild freak out over whether or not their $600 shoes have just bit the dust. Plugged the shoe back in to the power and saw the lights flash briefly and then nothing...

Unplugged and tried again...and again...until they powered back up. Now they're back to working as if nothing was ever wrong. So strange.

Figured I'd share my experience for anyone who has yet to charge them after receiving them.

Making some super stiff support for my bottom sole EL panels. Taking the flex and stress off the bottom EL is the only thing I can really think of to keep it from going out. (Apart from the actual connector) 1.5mm thick panel, still shaping it...but the plan is to use some strong 3M double sided adhesive to attach it on the back of the EL. Its mainly just a test really, never know til you try!

Great place to start :thumbsup http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=171111&page=96

Yes, please sell us the EL panels. I would gladly pay you for the panels, and fix the shoe myself. It will save you a lot of aftersale issues too.

Just a thought, if the EL panel flexing is what breaks it, if when you replace it, would gluing it to a stiff, non-conductive material like carbon fibre help? Or even a strong plastic as that would be more readily available

I couldn't find my spraypaint cans (gotta clean up that shed) so I just bought a $4 one from one of those cheap Asian shops. Put it on thick enough so that hopefully the fibres on the cotton tip wouldn't leave lines, but not thick enough to drip. Then left to dry with the shoe on its side so just in case it did drip, it would run down the side of the bubble and go into the gap. It didn't drip though. I will be doing this again with my second pair after I pay for them next week.

I couldn't help myself, plus Eastbay had them on sale, so I bought a pair of Nike Shibusas.

Pretty comfortable and definitely are styled after the Mag. If I still had all my Angelus paints, I'd definitely consider a splatter sole.

I wonder if the V3 soles would fit them...

WizardBTTF I think a polyprop plastic like ice cream container lid plastic might be the answer here. Strong, but flexible and I think if the reinforcement is too rigid, you will introduce more problems than you solve.

I always wonder if these things would fit me.

There are very few Nike that are wide enough in the toe box.

here you go. I didn't bother doing one at a time as I'd already tested this effect on some unrelated clear plastic, it worked on that, and we all know what they look like before so no before and after shot needed. I think the green still isn't 'green' enough but I'm happy with them. I would have gotten a better effect if I could take the ankle bubble out and spray it, but that's way too much work and risk for a perfectly working pair. The lights have been on and off (mostly on) for about 3 hours now and going strong after a full charge days ago.

it doesn't make the entire bubble clear, only the sections where the LEDs are. Must be frosted on the underside too. So, not as clear as the V2s.
Other than icing up my soles this will probably be my only mod on these shoes and hopefully leds last for ever

My V3s are doing well, got back from walking around another shopping centre for a few hours and no lights failed. All still working :D
The guys at Foot Locker pretty much all ran over to check them out when they noticed, lol
it was almost a pity to tell them they were replicas
Good job davidjones888 supposed sneaker enthusiasts couldn't tell the difference. :D

I had my first break. It's not on one of the shoes though. One of my charging cables no longer charges a shoe, so i have to charge them separately on the same cord. Does anyone know the size of the male end?
