Nike MAG replicas (V2 and V3 only)

To answer some of the questions I saw...
@Jedifyfe I am in Charlotte, NC. If anyone is local and wants some help with theirs let me know.
@yellowkobe Working on other ways to do the bubble that is more user friendly. The way I did mine isn't very realistic for most people to do. (as far as the resin I used)
@cavx There are 3 separate parts. I will take pics as they come out of the molds...one will be shown tonight as its setting up now. The others are still embeded in clay
@RVLF No clue what you mean about imprinting the whole sole lol
@airair The inverter is in the white ankle buckle about %99 sure, I checked the whole sole so its the last place it could be. The ankle buckle is glued on quite well to the fabric so its hard to get to.

@Jedifyfe I agree with your disagreement of my disagreement. Its not the section between the two panels that failed though? Is the the ribbon tape kinda connection?

haha :D Sorry, I want to know if you are planning to replicate the entire sole at the same time - Meaning getting the soles into somthing to recreate a mold of them.
Jedifyfe : Wouldn't it be better to have 2 separate EL for this part ? (I know, that would mean much wireing but also = no stress on the midle tiny joint)

I am 90% certain it was the bottom connection on the el panel that runs along the white (glowing) side. I think it failed at somepoint. Funny thing is, that it didn't fail while wearing but just sitting there

Is this the pair you have been wearing though? Or a different pair? If its not the pair you have been wearing that would make me feel a little better.

Man...I was really hopeful. I actually hate working with EL panels because of the way you have to wire them up, thought these had a solid connection. I guess your going to tear down that pair now? Pop that ankle buckle open...lets see what inverter we are working with lol...I can't bring myself to cut the inverter out on mine yet.

Actually I am working to get replacement EL panels made that can be swapped out of the soles if these fail.

Sweet man the idea of 2 separate panels does sound good although It doesn't seem the most feasible but eliminating any possible weak spots on these shoes should help. The cuttable panels everyone used for the V2s seemed more durable...but wiring up EL sucks, wish they could embed a more solid connection in them or something. Also I guess you didn't heat your sole up you just cut it open?

Dude, chill. No one knew how durable they were yet...in fact we still don't know. These things are so brand new that no one has put them through their paces yet.

We really won't know how durable they are for a while now. You gotta give these things time when you're not dealing with a major manufacturer.

sorry if that came across wrong , yeah i see what you mean man. Id love a pair for display and a pair to wear to conventions but at this price I cant do it so hoping they will hold up to cons and still be able to go in the cabinet at the end of the day.

Spent a couple hours going back and forth on this thread and saws that video of someone jumping about it them which pushed me to just ordering some.

I'm interested to know this too. David made comment that even after 20 days, all rubber yellows. Those that have my gen2 clear soles, are they yellow yet? On close inspection, what looked like a change of colour turned out to be dust that had settled in the waffles. The pyramid tread has become stained from walking on the ground. If I take a sample of the same age and break it to look at the cross section, it is still clear.

My last EL attempt had two panels per side and they still failed. In my case, the wires themselves wore through the insulation and shorted. The solder joints were solid and double insulated. I spoke to a guy that knows his stuff about EL and he said (after looking at my shoes) that ideally when you make a panel (one or two parts, doesn't matter) that you should be running theses through a laminater and then trimming close to the panels. This keeps the joins intact. It won't stop the wires rubbing though.
