NIKE MAG Knockoffs

Nonsense. He nicked them from the YouTube video and he hasn't responsed to any private messages.

Ah. Didn't realize that they'd been posted in a youtube video. Ok. Troll it is.

I got mine from shoesbagonsale.com for $99. The website had an established reputation, the lowest price I could find at the time, and decent communication (Vicky's English is pretty good).

Also, they do take Paypal.

They bumped the price up to $129.90

I checked YouTube to see how many customers have done reviews of their shoes and was surprised to find a lot. Shoesbagonsale seems pretty legit.

Hypothetically speaking... if Nike released a second run of Air Mags through its retailers, would a price point of $800 be too much?

For me? Yep. The most I'd put down on RD Mags -- for now -- is probably right around $400-500.

Basically a little less than I would pay for REALLY good replicas since Nike can afford to break costs down thanks to various economies of scale.

How much do you think it costs Nike to make one pair of Air Mags?

I'd agree with that.....especially if it is a general release. Which won't happen anyways if they were telling the truth when they said these will never be released again. Would be a huge slap i the face to those who purchase these through the auction. $500 would probably be about the max I would spend.

But the people that purchased the shoes through the auction knew that it was to raise money for Parkinson's research. I'd be willing to go up to a $600 price tag if $100 of every sale went to the chairty.

Having recently rewatched the promotional videos for the original MAG auctions, it seems as though Nike does intend to release this shoe again, and with power laces. Tinker Hatfield says in the commercial with Christopher Lloyd, "not until 2015" and when he describes sneaker technology evoloving to being able to actually do what the film shoe does, he smiles and says 2015. The narrator even says Nike released the Mags "four years early."

I have a feeling their extensive toolings that were made in all sizes were for good reason. I think we will get something in a couple more years.

When did they officially say they would neve be released again?

They patented the technology for Power laces.
I wouldn't be surprised if they release them in 2015.

Two points I was about to bring up. Thanks.

Well, here's an answer to one of those points....one question from an interview with Tinker Hatfield after the shoes release last year.

Are there any plans to ever release them as a regular release later on in the future?

No. To preserve the value of what people will spend for these shoes and the money that will — and hopefully, again, that’ll be as much as we can get for each shoe, so the amount of money to charity is the most we can come up with — In order to preserve that, we’re not going to re-release this shoe and we’re not going to commercialize it any further. What you will see, though, probably sometime in the future is that there will be some– this shoe has already helped inspire some unique design features on some new shoes and we are committed to designing shoes in the future that do come alive and do sense your body and do certain things, so this is a precursor to the future of probably all athletic shoes we design.

So in summary, No, they will not, but the technology may influence future designs

If the 2015s were made to look exactly like the 2011s except with power laces... would that be considered a re-release or an "inspired" shoe with "unique designed features" ???

Abstract:
An article of footwear with an automatic lacing system is disclosed. The automatic lacing system provides a set of straps that can be automatically opened and closed to switch between a loosened and tightened position of the upper. The article further includes an automatic ankle cinching system that is configured to automatically adjust an ankle portion of the upper.

All sounds promising, but seeing is believing and I think the "2015" comments were just to allow some breathing room. Apparently it took them 6 years to come up with the same elastic and velcro system they used back in 1989.
