Hello everyone. My name is Doug. I am doing my first cosplay costume for the 2015 MegaCon in Orlando. Since I was choosing to do this at last min I have chosen to do “The Red Hood New 52”. So far I have my jacket ordered (though I am not sure about ordering that on line)
My helmet which will require some possible sanding and all the paint. I have decided while I wait on things to come in I am going to be doing an armor upgrade using Centra for the parts and I used AutoCAD to size my parts to my size before cutting them out.

So far it’s going good, falling into some mistakes that I think most first timers do like paying too much attention to detail and thinking too much about how to do something different than everyone else. My sister and brother in-law have been a BIG Help with keeping me on point and giving me tips for fabricating my stuff(They are both in the 501st). I have built a few things in the past like light sabers using PVC template cutouts with steel pipe and spray paint and a few jawa weapons. So I know how to use tools and techniques but this is my first full build. I am even going to the state of trying to get myself back in shape so I can pull the costume off the way I see it in my head. I will also be making a mask to wear under the helmet so when I want to take it off I can still look somewhat like the part.
I will start posting pictures of my progress soon so if anyone has any tips or comments about how things look I would be happy to hear them.

Hi,
My Names Mike, I'm from the UK. I have seen the RPF mentioned a dozen times here and there and always heard good noises about it. Friendly community - super helpful yadda yadda.

I've recently returned from running the WDW Dopey Challenge, where I very nearly bought a "build your own lightsaber" until I realised I should actually build my own.

After some searching the RPF keeps getting mention so I thought I would join - have a look around and see whats what.

Hello,
I have been making props and armor (both real and costume) as a hobby off and on for quite a few years. I have been following RPF and figured I should join up :)

Hey all,

Rick from Sarasota, Florida. Retired Air Force so I always thought I was pretty handy/crafty until I saw the props here. All I can say is, "Wow!!"

I haven't made anything nor collected any props, but am looking forward to starting a few projects and hopefully tapping into the great amount of knowledge and expertise on these forums.

Hi All,

New to the forums, but a longtime browser/ lurker. Have seen some truly amazing work here. I have registered as I noticed the Build the Millennium falcon thread and as I have subscribed to it, I thought this was the best place to pick up tips on accurizing it..

I used to be a sheet metal worker, but am now a photographer but still enjoy tinkering with all sorts of things. I own a 3D printer and have made a few props using that so that may come in useful for greeblies etc. Hope its ok to add images here, its a prop honest.

Anyway thanks for letting me in and I look forward to learning lots and hopefully making some great stuff

Gareth

Hello Everyone,

Been lurking here for a while now. My name is Michael and I live in Orlando, FL.
Really enjoy the atmosphere and advice of the forums so I finally gained the courage to create an account and post my work.
My first full costume build was a Mad Max/Dystopian style costume for Halloween and have started to cosplay and make props since then.
I am excited to become a part of this community and hope to start posting soon.
Here are a few pics of my work.

Hello to all you crafty folk!

Thanks to the new Star Wars trailer, my desire to share in that universe by crafting my own armor has been reinvigorated!
That being said, I am looking forward to learning how to make the armor for an Imperial Royal Guard, Nova Prime (Richard Rider) and an ODST!
This is my first time, so no pics. Sorry =/

Hey all. Think I've lurked in the shadows enough, thought it was time I became a member. Been reading this forum for a very long time, got some great ideas for some very small projects but since my 30th is less than 6 months away, it's time to think big and really dive in and build something crazy. Haven't seen too many posts from Australians (then again I'm not always on here) so hopefully I can help that number grow. Will soon post the start of my project in the Marvel section :)
