Hi there!

I thought I could take the liberty of introducing myself. Can't hurt right?

My name? I have many.. At home I am known as Grant, On every video game imaginable I am known as Aermoss. At work I am known as Q, Take your pick.
What are my interests? I love to make stuff, What stuff do you ask? My response is that's a silly question....
Why am I here? For new ideas on what to make and hopefully motivate me to get out there and advertise my projects a little more. I really love to look at how to approach a project in a new way.
What is my life's ambition? To make, and be happy making.

Bring on the questions!

Hey all, Jenny here. I'm really new to cosplay. I started back in March at Wizard World Louisville with a Donna Noble costume that I pieced together from 2nd hand stores & my closet. I've recently taken up sewing so as I can step up my game. I'm a big pop culture geek - Game of Throne, Doctor Who, Buffy, The Originals, Marvel Movies, Avatar: The Last Airbender, etc. Found this site while searching for help with a Starlord costume for my son who really wants to go as him this year. Can't find one in stores that fits him, but I really want him to be able to go as Mister Quill. Hoping to find a lot of inspiration - there's so many talented people here. Can't wait to dive in.

Hi everyone, I'm Sophie. I've been cosplaying for about two years, most of my cosplays are sci-fi TV characters. My first cosplay was Dana Scully, in the past I've also been Claudia Donovan from Warehouse 13, Will from Hannibal, and Captain Mal from Firefly. This year I got massively into Supernatural so I really needed to start making props. I've made Dean's skull bracelet, the Colt, a glowing angel grace necklace, and an angel blade. Hopefully some photos are attached! I work nearly all from thrift/charity shops and dollar/pound stores as I struggle to make things from scratch but can do a fair job altering existing items.

Right now I'm working on Star-Lord for the Magic Kingdom Halloween party when we go on vacation next month. My current project is altering a drinkman flask into a walkman. I've seen so many great posts on here I decided I should really sign up!

Good day!
Long time ghost, first time poster.

I've made stuff since I was a kid, but in the last few years my hobby has geared up a bit as I have been able to outfit my workshop piece-meal.

Stuff I'm guilty of:
- RTV mold making (miniatures)
- paper/card/cardboard models (up to and including a full-size cardboard R2D2)
- amatuerish wood working (prop-wise including a katana and elven sword, 2 each SW Stormtrooper longarms - the lewis-gun "sandtrooper" gun and the MG-34? thing)
- BL2 sniper (newly started)
- automail arm (relaunching this project for a gaming friend)

My biggest sin: I don't finish most of it. I have years of half-finished projects. The last thing I actually finished was a prop for an old gamer buddy's daughter: a shield (okay, 2 shields) for her Homura Akemi cosplay at Sakuracon. Before that, I managed to finish my granddaughter's Hello Kitty Fallout 3 power armor for last year's Emerald City Comic Con (we were only there on Friday, or she'd be a star already!)

I have raided files, plundered posts, and assembled a pile of projects that I'd really like to hang up as finished work.

Oh, and my handle comes from a brief flurry of activity wherein I built a small collection of flying ship models for a fantasy RPG, and needed a gmail account for testing remote gaming through Google Hangouts *crickets*.

Hi everyone.

Even from Norway here.
I have heard about this forum for some time, but never really found the time to get in here. Now I kicked my own butt and finally I am here.

I am not a big propbuilder, but want to learn. I am part of a workshop in Oslo Norway, where we mostly will build Star Wars-props, but also other props
Myself are a huge SW-fan, so will basicly follow the threads about SW, but also Spaceballs, Predator and other cool stuff as well.

Look forward to learn a lot from this site and all of you.

Best regards
Even :)

I'm part of the Alpine Garrison of the 501st legion so my interest in props is mainly for use with charity events BUT we are sticklers for details. Currently we are looking to make a full size speeder bike that we can actually use for photo ops to raise money for charity events. I've been looking around trying to find someone who might know how to built one in a way that we are trying. We have to make all our props light weight and they have to be easy to transport so that ends up being some of our problems, we want to do it from foam but it has to support a persons weight. So I'm looking for information knowledge and research for our projects we are always expanding and always looking for new things that we can do to bring interest and awareness at conventions and also allow children from events like make a wish find some enjoyment in. So I'll be stalking the forums for information and hopefully my garrison buddies and I can get together and work something out with information we gather. So I'm looking forward to hearing from you all and throwing my words in when I can. I'll also add in that I'm a HUGE halloween nut, along with my obsession for details and accuracy.

Hello there! My name is Liz Welsh, I am a member of the Rebel Legion and the 501st legion. My favorite fandom is Star Wars, but I love many other things as well! :) I haven't posted on therpf in a while and I realized that I never introduced myself here, so I thought I ought to! Great forum, I am so glad to be a part of it! :)

Hey everyone! I am a novice prop builder from the U.S. I heard about this forum from the youtube podcast "Still Untitled: The Adam Savage Project", and I was amazed by the stuff on this site.
I have been building and painting 1/35 scale miniatures for dioramas for a few years now and have gotten an interest in prop and costume making.

Right now I am learning the ropes of building quality props. My current project is making some medieval shields for friends who were interested. I have already finished one, and I think that it has turned out extremely well for my first build project.

Howdy y'all, My name is Raul and I'm a cosplayer of OneRealityCosplay trying to expand my art like most of the folks here. I have done simple DIY prop making, and starting on using leather and EVA to make armor props. Hope to learn a lot more from everyone here and help out in what I can. Glad to be here!

Names Jester. I have been visiting this site for at least a year and decided I am very serious in making my own costumes so figured sign up and have access to this site and advice.

I want to make a replica Bob skull from the Dresden Files too. Stumbled upon this site. Any information to share?

Hello!

I'm Sean-Thomas! I've been meaning to join the RPF for a while. I don't know what else to say. I already know it's an awesome community and I'm looking forward to being a part of it.

Hello, everyone!

I hail from Oregon in the United States and have been aware of the RPF for a long time but just now joined! My main interests are Mass Effect, Star Trek and Stargate. I just returned from my first ever con, PAX Prime in Seattle, WA where I wore my Mass Effect 3 Commander Shepard N7 armor and a Stargate uniform to much positive reception. That being so encouraging, I am looking into upgrading my current cosplays and venturing into more when I've the money :) I've always been interested in joining the Rebel Legion or the 501st. This isn't the first community I've been a part of as I started with Gateworld Forums and am a member of Outpost10F and SG-Operations. However, I look forward to learning much knowledge of prop-making from others here!

Cheers!

Greetings to you all,
My name is A. Tom Rehn (pronounced 'rain'). When not on a ski hills of Beaver Creek, I am usually in my Basement Studio making Jedi stuff. I have been making Star Wars related costuming since June 1977 (do the math). My 1st Star Wars Costume was a guy called Luke Skywalker.
My costuming experiences went from Star Wars to Comic book Heroes, to Renaissance Festivals, to historically accurate costuming, back to Star Wars. I specialize in doing things either the old fashioned way (hand stitching) to playing with lasers for design and etching (laser etched leather is SO cool!)!
I do not play with resins too much, because my wife says I already stink up the house enough as it is, so she draws the line there.
I also love challenges. I was the driving force behind Darth Maul Cyborg on Facebook. We built that in 2.5 weeks in my studio. I was told that that character would be impossible to do. So I thought that 'Impossible' means, it will require some work and a little time.
That's a good intro for now. Looking forward to hearing from some of you soon.

Hey everyone. I was just referred to the RPF as a pretty solid way to get some cosplay items. I'm new to cosplaying, but I'm having a lot of fun! I'm Josh and I'm in Austin, Texas. I'm looking forward to mingling with you guys.

Hi veterans and fellow new members! My name is Nathaniel as is my username. I've been a fringe lurker for quite some time and luckily managed to register first time. Found the site through following Adam Savage and Will & Norm from tested (Im probably the only one who didn't know about them but if not go check out their youtube, Its amazing). Finding out about prob builders and collectors has been unbelievably amazing. Cinema is something i love, i would regularly start projects on things like guitars or home ventures. Even bought an embroidery machine to make my own clothes. (Which will help massively now), but the idea of actually creating the props you love on screen just never occurred to me before due to the high prices of the real items. I didnt even think it was something to collect unless you were super rich. After seeing how unbelievable some people's work turns out on here i cant wait to get collecting!! Ive already started a HAL9000 after seeing one guys epic build!

My planned builds;

HAL9000 (Started)
The Shining Photo (Because Its Quick And Easy)
The Shining Apollo Jumper
B2TF Hoverboard
Frank Head
Heat Bank Robbery Outfit
Anything Pulp Fiction
EVE From Wall-E
Snoopy Cap

The Next I Wont Start Until Im Confident I Can Do A Good Job!
Coraline
Jack Skellington
EMU Space Suit

Wish me luck!

Relatively new here. My interest is primarily Captain America, with secondary interests in Wolverine, Deadpool, Superman and Batman. However, I like all things comic, Marvel and DC and anything cool. Glad to have found these forums.

Hey Gang!

I've always been big on Halloween and costume building, (I always make a costume rather than buy a packaged one.) Last year I decided to step my game up and made a Robin costume from scratch, sewing and swearing all the way! I've stumbled on this site and it already looks like fountain of information. Looking forward to contributing!

Hi everyone,

I came across this site doing research for a Marty McFly costume I put together for DragonCon. I had no idea just how dedicated the cosplay/prop replica community was, and I was very impressed by what I saw on this site. So, I decided I'd sign up. I'm looking forward to exploring the forums, and I hope I can contribute to the knowledge base as well in some way. I have no mechanical skills whatsoever, so I'm sure a lot of my participation on here will merely be in the form of admiration. :)

Hi, My names Sheldon (yes like in Big Bang Theory ;)) I've been on here for a while now but just as an observer. Think its time I made my presence known. I love creating 2D/3D art and building cosplay outfits and armor.

See you round the forum
