Hi! About me...hmm. I'm just a great big nerd who's been "making stuff" my whole life. I've spent a lot of time alone in the garage or in my basement studio working away at stuff, but have never really gotten into the "community" aspect of it. It's just been me, alone, figuring stuff out. I've made a few costumes over the years, but always for a specific purpose and never as a major hobby. This year I finally got to attend Dragon*Con again after many years and discovered my passion for costuming and cosplay. I poked around just a little online and picked up enough tips to help me successfully construct a set of Skyrim dragonscale armor out of Worbla. The two months I spent building that were awesome, and being at the con with other folks who share my interests catapulted me into the community aspect of props and costuming. I won't lie - I also really enjoyed the compliments I received and all the photos requested of me. ;) I've spent some time since I got home looking around at what other folks are doing, and I ran across a reference to this site. Now, here I am! I live in an area with a long, hard winter which I plan to spend constructing my costumes for next year and fixing my dragonscale so it's easier to wear. I feel great about the construction, but the attachments I had didn't really work very well for Atlanta in August. I enjoy finding my way as I go, but I'm hoping to pick up some good tips and ideas here that will help me expand and improve upon my skills so I spend more time enjoying myself and less time fiddling with armor next year. I pretty much live in the middle of nowhere which limits my access to a lot of things, but I am fortunate enough to have accumulated enough space, equipment, and supplies over the years to be able to do a lot of different things (I refer to this as my "arts and crafts empire"). I discovered at the con that I'm a little behind the times because I didn't know about EVA foam, but now that I've been enlightened I'm ready to go to town on a stack of derelict floor mats in my storage closet. I'm excited to see what other things I can do with things I already have. My hoarding is starting to pay off. Yes!

Hey there :) I'm Lenore.

Very new at prop-making and cosplaying, but I learn quite quickly. First project of mine was a full out armor + rocket launcher from the video game Planetside 2, went to a convention where PS2 was dominant, and ended up getting 'Best in Show'. Eager to learn more, and thanks for having such a helpful and amazing site.

Hello,

I came across RPF looking for sonic screwdriver mods and then came back to join when I decided to cosplay as Star Lord for 2014 Austin Comic Con. I just want to say everyone here is absolutely amazing at what they do. I am honored to now be among and hope to learn a lot.

Hello, i go by the name of Grimbahl.

I came across this site when looking for advice for crafting a cosplay costume. I am looking to get into crafting and cosplaying although i am a complete beginner.
My goal is to get started crafting some armor out of EVA-foam, hopefully with the help of some of your tips and tricks.

Good Morning / Afternoon / Evening to One & All ... .

My name is Douglas C, age 50-something when last I bothered to look, and me and mine reside in Wooster - the Heart of Wayne County, Ohio. My interests are many and varied and include, but not limited to movies of all genres, theater (on stage / on radio) - watching and performing, reading, writing but not 'rithmatic ... I've recently retired and I don't gotta crunch numbers no more! My hobbies include collecting stuff: genealogy (ancestors); numismatics (coins); exonumia (tokens); bibliophilia (books, esp T Pratchett's Discworld series); ephemera (bits and pieces of paper) ... to name but a few. Oh, I also play with trains: Lionel and American Flyer.

I heard about the RPF from Adam Savage via YouTube videos. I spent many hours on the office computer perusing the postings and was fascinated by all the categories / aspects of RPF and in awe of the research, work and constructions exhibited herein. Now that I have more time in my life and times to pursue my interests I have signed up as a new member to spend many more hours on my home computer to enjoy the RPF postings and, hopefully, make a few contributions of my own and see if they prompt any replies in kind.

For instance, there be lots o' posts in re the Maxwell House coffee can that is featured in the musical movie version of Little Shop of Horrors - but I've yet to come across anyone talking about the original movie's Audrey Jr and the coffee can it was seen (briefly) in. To the best of my research I believe it be a Manning's Coffee can (per pix from Pinterest); has anyone tried replicating the original plant?

I am putting together a collection of cinematic coins and currency - real cash, not prop money. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to collect prop money, too - but it's a challenge to identify real coins and banknotes used in movies and then obtain an absolutely authentic duplicate in size, weight and material from the original authorized manufacturer (e.g. the US Mint or the Bureau of Printing & Engraving). I'm interested in foreign and ancient coins, too. Has anyone ever identified the Roman coin that was in Prof Wutheridge's possession that Dudley recounted the history of in The Bishop's Wife?

In re toy trains, has any model railroader reproduced the track plan for the Lionel trains that appeared in People Will Talk? I have. It be too big for my basement, but it's a pleasure to at least imagine having/running. LOL Someday I do hope to squeeze in the Addams Family tv show's layout, which is well known, and the Addams Family movie version layout is impressive, too.

So much for my self-introduction. Any questions, comments, answers - please don't hesitate to do whatever one has to do here to communicate back.

TYVM

Hey!

My name's Alex and I live in Perth, Australia. I started the foamsmithing when I was two years ago, when I was 13, yet I am still an amateur.

I joined in hopes of leveling up my skills and to make better props in the future :))

My absolute aim is to build Tacit Ronin from Pacific Rim. I want it to be the best build I will ever do and it's probably the most invested I've ever been in something. I am currently piecing The Winter Soldier together for a mini event. Really excited and glad to be part of the RPF

Greetings Builders of Stuffs!
New here ;-)
Im looking for recommendations on making a bear shaped helmet out of EVA foam. Any advice or point me in the right direction?

Hey.

Love the awesome props made by all of you RPF. Keep up the good work! Thanks for the help.
Hope to post pics soon.

I was looking for a community that makes replica costumes and found this wonderful site. I hope to learn much here. I am working on a Spiderman project. I will keep you people updated!

Hello, fellow creators!

I'm super new to the site. I heard about it on the podcast "Still Untitled: The Adam Savage Project", and I have been waiting patiently until I could sign up.

My main project right now is a "medieval Doctor Doom" costume for comicon (not this year's con, but one in the future). I am hella broke, so I will be making it out of cardboard.
I hope to get some tips and trick so I don't have to reinvent the wheel several times over.

I have a degree in Graphic Design and a partial dregee in Illustration with a concentration of Comicbook Illustration and writing. I have done only one big build for a costume before, and I am looking to jump back into it.

Hi, my names JT
Im in the army right now. Im trying to build a bad ass spiderman cosplay that I can use for birthdays and for playing around on base.
If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Hi, I'm Jennifer.
I've been making things for around 7 years now and I'm still very much in the learning stages! I've made some cool things but I'm always looking for new techniques and things so I can get better. I've made some costumes from Star Wars, Doctor Who and Mass Effect. I've also made a tauntaun named Mumford. I'm currently in the mad dash for Halloween costume completion so I'm a little out of my mind at the moment :)
I'm happy to be a part of this awesome community and I hope to post some things on here soon :)

Hello there!

My name is Stanislas, but you can call me Artist because it suits my lifestyle and would be my name if I had two hearts.
I have a great interest in Doctor Who props and costumes, and it is mainly why I am here.

I hope I'll have a good time here, and even someday I might be helpful to someone! ;)

Hi everyone! I'm new to building costumes and props, but I've enjoyed reading what all the very talented members on The RPF have created. I would love to learn and hopeful one day teach others what I've learned. Thanks for creating such an awesome site!

Hi guys, I really love the detail and effort that goes into all of the props and costumes here. I hope to (one day) make my own stuff so I figure I can see what people do here and learn from it.

Hello from Memphis. New to the RPF. Just starting out in Cosplay. Working on perfecting my Red Skull with some different variations.
