Hi guys! :) Newbie here but I've been lurking here for quite sometime. :D I learned my first build here. It was an iron man glove. Hope I can improve it and eventually create my very own iron man suit.

Hello, my name is Carlos, I'm Spanish and I belong to an association called Hispania HMS Modelling Solutions, based in the city of Malaga, southern Spain.
In our association we love everything about the replicas from the movie world and I'll take this forum to go away teaching the things that either make or buy.

I would also like to meet other fans who live in Spain and are members of this forum.

Hello! I've been a reader of the forum for quite a while and decided to get more involved.

I live in the DFW area of Texas and have worked in the art department of film sets for a little over 10 years. It's taken me all over the world for work, which has been a pretty incredible adventure. I recently started working at Tandy Leather doing some of their Social Media and Outreach and have decided I want to merge my prop building experience with my new fascination of leatherworking.

I also may be traveling to a number of different shows, so it would also be pretty cool to be able to meet up with some folks at conventions.

Hi all :) I've already made a couple of posts and got answers really quick so thought I'd better say hello properly! I've always been interested in making things from model kits as a kid ( a rather long time ago! lol) to RC cars and planes more recently. I came across this site after watching Haptain Harlock the other night and looking for references to his costume, then realized I knew about the site because Adam Savage mentions it a lot on Tested! Anyway all the great info on here got me thinking my 8 year old would love a foam Iron Man outfit for Halloween so that's going to be my first project! I've done stuff similar when building planes out of foam core so used to some of the techniques, the suits are just a bigger scale! Anyway, I hope I don't ask too many daft questions and I'll contribute if I can :)

Cheers.

Hi All,

I've been lurking on the MB for a while and now that I'm building my own costume, decided to take the plunge and say "Hi".

Never made a costume, what has prompted this is having a little boy that's turning 2 in Oct and his Auntie (my sister) is making him a Hero Costume so I figured I'd be his sidekick. Not wanting to make a generic outfit I've taken the plunge to make up my own, kind of a cross between The Punisher and Batman. Bod armor up top with a mask and weapons and army/tactical gear from the waist down.

I've seen what some of you guys can do and if I get 20% of that then I will be happy, I'll probably make my own thread on the outfit so you can all laugh :lol

I'm a newbie & I like this site; Very informative: I've been building a lot of props with Pieces from Brass & stuff I've found but I was mesmerized by EVA Plastic Foam Builds. I've built everything from Stone Fireplaces to Oak Kitchen Cabinets professionally & for a long time I had a woodshop in my garage. I think I have most of the layout & design skills to make some interesting projects but I am a Newbie to EVA foam.
I began a mock up of a Mark V Diving Helmet (Circa 1915) & although I think I have the template down I am going to need some filler; Can a guy use Bondo on this stuff? Can you use Bondo after the PVA Wash? Or after the Plasti-Dip?

Hey everyone
Came across this forum searching for a Captain America suit, looked like there was a lot of good information here so I went ahead and signed up! Glad to be here and looking forward to what this place has to offer!

Hello,
I figured I should introduce myself.

I've been looking over the posts for a while, seeing the amazing progress of a lot of people's projects.

I'm sure I'll be enlisting your help soon enough, I'm in the early stages of making a pirate assassin costume. Of course it's inspired by Edward Kenway, but I'm making it my own, cause I guess I'm weird like that.

So I look forward to watching the projects unfold and when I come to that point, crying for help on the forums ; )

Uh, hi. I'm Rade. *wave*

Started cosplaying this year but decided to learn how to build stuff for future cosplays. I'm starting with Krieg from Borderlands 2. I'm hoping to finish it fairly unscathed.

Obligatory hello to the community :) - heard about this place through the Tested podcast and it sounds like this is the place to go for some interesting spare time projects to add further to my list of other uncompleted spare time projects.

Hello!

I'm an enthusiastic dane, embarking on my first ambitious cosplay project. I'm still mostly in the planning phase, but have begun to buy materials to try my hand at different methods so I can decide on what to use for which parts.

The character that will be my project is Five from Drakengard 3:

I hope to see you all in the forums, and advice is always welcome!

Hello,
I'm John, living in south western Ontario. I've visited this site quite often
and decided to finally join. Amazing to see so many talented people
making cool stuff. I've been sculpting and making stuff since I was a kid
but drifted away from it for some time but have been slowly coming
back to it. Mostly been making life size monster stuff and Halloween
props. Looking forward to diving back in.

Thanks

Hey everyone. This is my second introduction ( I locked myself of my old account ). Looking forward to jumping back into the boards. I am looking to expand my projects out from Special FX. I am looking to start making helmets, weapons, etc. Which brings me up to my next question ( hopefully this is the right place to ask )... I need some suggestions for a project. I am looking to do a helmet but want to try something new and unique. Something not everyone is making or that has readily available pep files. I am sadistic that way. Anyways. Cheers!

Howdy, all! I came across this site while beginning my research for making my first costume for an upcoming 2015 Comic Con event. It'll be my first Con and I'm looking forward to it (even though it's 10 months away)!

Hello all,

I finally decided to register so I can thank all of the contributors to this site for their brilliant work and tips for costuming. I would not have been able to complete my first Deathstroke build for my son without your tips and design ideas. My name is Eric and I reside in SE Wisconsin and I am planning my next build for next February's Madison Wizard World Con.

Hey everyone,
I've been toying with the idea of making some costumes for a few years now and decided to finally take the plunge. I had previously started a SG1 Jaffa helmet in paper from a pepakura file and quickly found out I don't have the patience for paper!
So with a nephew's superhero birthday party this coming weekend I decided to try my hand at foam building and now I'm pretty much hooked. I started, as many recommend, with JFCustom's Captain America helmet. I find the foam method really rewarding, enjoyable, and way quicker.
So now I have plans for many other foam pep projects plus a few other projects with rubber and such.
Anyway, here's the Cap helmet. I have a little paint touching up to do but I'm reasonably pleased for a first effort.

Hello there!

I'm Michael. I'm probably like most of you, a renaissance man (or woman) with many talents and many hobbies, but I wanted to get my name out there with my crafts and prop making. I have been constructing odd-and-end props for various purposes ever since I realized that a kit for a PKD 2019 blaster would set me back $200 or more, so I carved one out of white oak instead. Most all of my props are built from solid hardwoods, and hand-carved and hand-finished. I have a shop at Etsy, but I was told about this lovely place by a fine gentleman, The Great Bambinos, who suggested I try my hand here.

If you're curious about my various items for sale over at Etsy, here's the link:https://www.etsy.com/shop/AtaraxiaCrafts?ref=hdr_shop_menu

Thanks, and good luck to us all!

Hi guys!

I'm Patrik. I've been following this site for awhile now (thanks to Adam Savage tip on Tested), and after seeing Guardians of the Galaxy I decided to take up a collection of my own.
I pretty much lack every skill that's necessary for this hobby, but I love to learn & try new stuff and I'm pretty tech-savvy. Born n' bred Swede with a love for Soccer & Hockey and huge passion for working out in different ways.

Thanks for reading and if you're a fellow Swede, maybe you could throw a message my way.
Cya lads!

Hello. My name is Dan, and I'm an older software nerd who recently discovered the fun of dressing up like some of my favorite comic book characters for fun and Comic-Con. I lack the skills to make my own costumes, so I buy/find/commission pieces and bring them together into the characters I would like to be -- so far, the Comedian from 'Watchmen' and Captain America (stealth suit from 'The Winter Soldier'). I'm looking for some help on the remaining pieces of a new Captain America suit, so anyone who can build such things would be appreciated.

Here are the two outfits I had at the convention this year: IMG_1107.jpgIMG_1118.jpg
