Hiya,
My names Michael and I'm from Middlesbrough in the UK.
I'd heard about the Replica Prop Forum from a couple of my friends in the Cosplay circle I costume in.
My cosplays aren't screen accurate but are more loosely based on the characters myself as I like to mash-up my creations and add a little uniqueness to them.
I have 2 costumes, 3 if you consider one which is purely for Halloween and I'm planning a 4th. The first is an Umbrella Corp Soldier from Resident Evil, which is basically a mix of the Hunk and a Centurion. As I've said, because it's a mash-up, it won't be cleared with any costume groups as being 'screen accurate' as it doesn't bear any resemblence to any existing costume but I'm fond of the fact it's my own creation and in my own opinion and that of others, it's impressive.
The 2nd is a Sith Lord, which I embarked upon when I bought a Wicked Lasers S3 Arctic and bought the laser sabre attachment to go with it. The costume is pants to be honest and needs some attention but it's a start. I've had people hassle me to by FX Light Sabres to go with the costu
The 3rd is years old and is well aged. I happened upon a skull mask from Asda many years ago, around Halloween time, that was £5.99 at the time and since then, have saw reproductions of it but for a more expensive price tag. I took an old Scream costume, cast the mask aside and used the skull mask in it's place. After a trip to B&Q buying waste water pipe and an old damaged side bath panel, I made myself a scythe. Sprayed the stem of the scythe brown and wiped it down in places to try and give it a wooden effect and them chrome sprayed the blade I made. I've had doormen actually check the blade wasn't actual metal so that for me was a complement itself.
The 4th is a work in progress. I still have a few bits to buy to try and create a near-as-dammit screen accurate Barry Burton from Resident Evil. As a both a cosplayer and airsofter, I find a lot of airsoft weaponry at times is themed. You can buy the likes of the Aliens Snow Wolf M1A1 Pulse Rifle that I've saw people cosplay USMC soldiers with. But having not had a side arm for airsofting and being a Resident Evil film fan, I saw the Jill Valentine Berretta M92 and it's then I saw the Barry Burton version. Having bought the pistol, within the group of cosplaying friends I have, they said they didn't have a Barry Burton cosplayer, so that's my next project.
