Hey everyone, just a quick note of introduction. My name is Martin and while I'm not heavily invested in the prop community at this point, I am amazed and fascinated with the work you guys do. Incredible stuff!! I work in the film and production field and partner with the Duncanator at our business The Argyle Workshop. I was fortunate enough to work with him on the restorations for the Star War's identities exhibit, as well as other work over at the ranch. I'm looking forward to hanging out and seeing what you come up with!

Hello everyone! What a wonderfully vibrant community I must say! My name is Nick and I go to the University of Toledo in Toledo, OH. In case you were curious, it's a terrible place, don't come here. Haha

For the last few years, I've attended cons here and there in an absolutely horrendous (albeit comical) Spiderman suit that I obtained from an old friend. It's all I had, and I made the best of it. Now I'd finally like to change things, with what budgetary stretches I can make in my last year in college.

I've frequented threads (mostly Spider-Man related) on here for a few years now, and figured it was high time to put all of my lurking into action and see how I could become a part of what everyone does here. I'm very excited, and though I've probably waited a bit too long, I'm hoping to get a Spidey suit together for the Premiere come May 2nd. After that, it'll be making sure that I'm ready for the cons I'm going to attend. If I should get so lucky after I graduate from university, hopefully I'll be able to make that incredible trip to San Diego!

Messages and things are always welcome, I love meeting new people!

Thanks everyone!

Re: >> New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! <<

Hi, I'm new here, signed up the other day. I see a lot of guys are on showing some amazing things. I am new to collecting and only have a few things. I love the captain america shields I've seen on here. I live on Long Island and would love to meet some people who are interested in building things. I'm a female Marvel geek, according to my husband, lol. Anyway, I guess I need to save my dollars for some of the amazing props I've seen. Great job guys!

Hello everyone!

My name is Dee and ive been a Star Wars fan since in was a kid, im 34 now so that can give you an idea of how long ive been a fan hehe. Looking forward to learning and sharing.

Hi! I'm a big fan of Star Wars, but I dabble in a lot of everything! I work at a costume shop so I get to see all the licensed stuff available, as well as helping the cosplayers with hard-to-find items and props they can't make themselves. I also do cosplaying for myself, with lots of big projects in the works. I have helped create an accurate ESB Darth Vader costume, and I'm currently working on my Rogue Squadron Twi'lek, Cesi "Doc" Eirriss.

We are building the helmet from scratch... I'm super excited about it, I hope it turns out. I will be sure to share it here with everyone!

Hello all!

Just recently found this site. I was amazed at all the beautiful items posted here and decided to join. I just started getting into costuming but haven't had much luck putting one together. This site is really informative for helping me start out.

Hey everybody! I'm new to this site(call me Captain Obvious), and I have seen a lot of exciting and interesting threads on here! I am a die-hard horror fan, but I am also a 100% Disney Dad!!!! lol When I was little, my dad used to drag me through haunted houses during Halloween while I was crying. This may sound like bad parenting, but as I got older, my dad and I would also watch horror movies together. It became a bonding thing between us. As I got older, I became facinated with haunted houses and I worked in one every Halloween for 3 years. I am now 35 years old, and my father and I still visit one haunted house every Halloween together. I have a beautiful daughter that must have inherited my macabre taste, because she doesn't scare easily! When she was 2 years old, she loved to watch and would have a fit if I turned off Nightmare Before Christmas! We have family in Orlando, and visit WDW often. She has come to looooooove the Haunted Mansion and typically wants to ride it as much as possible when we visit MK. Recently I have decided to venture out and start a collection of Haunted Mansion memorabilia. As soon as I started my research, I quickly became addicted to all the awesome collectibles! Unfortunately, a lot of them are out of production. I stumbled across this site while looking for more collectibles and can't stop looking through all the posts on here. I hope I make some good connections while I'm here and look forward to meeting more enthusiasts on here. Sorry for the lengthy introduction! lol

Lately I've had a strong desire to try and scratch build a few props. I like to make things but that's about as far as my education and experience goes. I started re-watching Farscape and thought the Pulse Pistol might be an easy build. Here's what I've done so far.

Hello all, I am new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself.

If found this forum when doing some research on BSG items. I have been modelling for a number of years now, mostly armour. However I have several of the old Monogram Battlestar Galactica kits and Moebius kits that I am now working on. Just to name a few. I am a bit of a BSG fanatic. Would love to build a Studio Scale model some time. But am running out of time. lol Too old now.

Being an avid paintballer I have even produced accessories for several paintball markers to make them more "realistic". Even did up a couple of Paintball masks to resemble the Iron Man helmet.

There are some very talented people on this forum and I am looking forward to sharing ideas and drooling over many of your projects. I could only dream of being as talented as most of you.

Thank you for letting me join your community.

Hey there been a member since last year but have been lurking away until now, joined this site as it obviously the best place for anyone who loves prop making. Ive used a lot of the harry potter paper props and they are all excellent, now im looking to get my teeth into some lotr props and would welcome any advice on what to start with and general advice. cheers guys

Hey everyone, I've been a lurker for awhile and finally decided to make an account so I could comment on all the awesome things here. :O Probably will continue to lurk, but with the occasional comment now and again. :p I'm working on an Avengers version of Black Widow's outfit for this year's comic-con and have already found some great pointers on here!

Hello,

Been surveying this site for a while. First came across it when looking for information on vacuum forming and was honestly blown away by the creativity and skill on show here!
I live in Australia and am a qualified Composite Technican, i used to work as a boatbuilder but now work at a company that makes custom displays and sets i have never tried making a prop or a scale model.

I am really keen to do a 'scratch build' but am just deciding what to do at the moment. I am a big fan of the japanese classic 'Nausiica valley of the wind' and would love to build a replica of the hoverboard. At the same time i'm quite keen to do a Mask, such as a pep storm trooper, or a weapon of some kind such as Sting from LOTR!? I just want to choose something that is within my ability level for a first time build. I will be sure to post when i do build something and look forward to learning in this highly skilled and supportive community.

Kind Regards
TW

Hello everyone,

my name is Mike and I'm from The Netherlands.
I have been visiting this site some time for general how-to knowledge to plan my own tinkering.
Right now I'm working on my own Gray Fox suit.
I generally have a thing for masked heroes/villains/anti-heroes. :ninja
Very new to this so I will see you on the forums answering my questions!

Hello there!

I had found this site ages ago and never had time for a forum like this, but now that I'm out of school and on a "regular" schedule (business hours are always when you're a courier), I find myself once again interested in this.

I am currently building a Star Lord mask (Abnett and Lanning run) and costume for myself, I have read a few different techniques (some cheaper than others) and I'm starting with the cheapest of construction paper, masking tape and modge podge crafting. If that turns out well enough I'll have a sort of pattern to follow up with foam.
Currently my struggle is figuring out how to shape it to my face.

I also repaint Monster High dolls and have been teaching myself how to sew (so far little success with this, but I haven't had much time for it).

I dabble in FX make up and molding, I'm very excited because I finally have a space to set up a workshop so I should have that put together by the end of the summer.

Can't wait to get into the thick of it with everyone here! ^_^

I’m a bit of a lurker here. I love Prop building and collecting and this site came highly recommend and having looked through alot the amazing work here I can see why. I plan to build something on a budget and I have over a year to get it done. This year I went last-minute to STL comic con as a Roger Delgado Master in a costume I put together in about 15 min I had a blast but virtually no one knew who I was. So decided I really wanted t go all out next year so I joined up I hope you guys could help me get a great costume together for next year with out breaking the bank. I can’t wait to see what ideas you guys have and here is a pic of me with one of only 3 people at the con who knew who I was I proud to say Matt Smith was one of those 3 and so was this guy dress as the 3rd Doctor.
