Hi guys,

My name's Chris and I've been lurking for the past few months.

Always been a huge comic book fan, but I've never attempted to make a costume myself. I look forward to gathering all of the knowledge everyone has shared on this forum. Hopefully I'll get started on my first costume soon!

Howdy!

I've been interested in historical and fictional armor making for a number of years, but I've never been able to follow through with any of the plans I've made for projects. I've gotten to the point of mocking up designs numerous times, but the leap from poster board template to sturdy wearable material has always eluded me. At that point, my ADD brain does not want to take the time to set up the work space needed to carry on, and the project falls to the wayside.

However, with the help of forums such as the RPF and the 405th, I've discovered the awesome process of pepakura--->resin--->fiberglass--->bondo. I think this works a lot better for me, as I can take the paper mock-up I would usually make and transform it directly into a finished piece.

I have no experience with modeling/painting/sculpting/sewing/etc., but I love working with my hands, and I'm very eager to learn all the skills associated with costuming and prop making. In some aspects of my life, I can be too much of a perfectionist, and I think that will translate nicely into replica making.

I am currently interested in Mass Effect armor and props, and I am also interested in other cool armors found in various forms of fiction. I am particularly fond of "realistic" female battle gear and armor, found in franchises such as Mass Effect, Halo, Gears, Star Wars, Dredd 3D, GoT, etcetcetc. Whenever a franchise has amazing male costumes, but the women all have boob windows and maille bikinis, a little part of me dies inside.

This is an amazing forum, and I am looking forward to learning as much as I can from y'all!

Hello there!

I am new to this and have been lurking around. I actually found this site from looking for Doctor Who props and I now want to expose myself to this world. I've always been a big fan and wanted to try costuming and creating a collection of my props and toys. Watch me as I grow into the world of costuming. Maybe one day I will be a famous cosplay persona in the comiccon world.

Hey I'm a new member I love making costumes. That's how I found this site lol. I was looking for resources to make a death stroke costume with and this Ia the best site for stuff like that

Hi, I'm Kasi!

I used to have an account here but I deleted it some time ago. Going to ECCC last month and meeting a few other RPF members has inspired me to rejoin. I've been cosplaying for a year now, working mostly with textiles but I've also done a few fairly detailed cardboard cosplays. (lol) I have an eye for detail and I'm interested in learning more about foam/armour/plastics/casting techniques. :)

Hi everyone!

I've been viewing this site for awhile and have always been overwhelmed by the knowledge, skill and community found within the pages. I've always loved the technical side of movies and have been a Star Wars fan since as far back as I can remember. Recently I was able to grab a Heiland flash and I fully intend on making a Vader ESB lightsaber (just getting the flash handle is half the work really). Figured it was time to stop lurking and join up and see if I can ever help where I can.

Hi, I'm Brian and I'm a cosplayer. ;)

I found this site while looking for tips & tricks in making props and it seems just perfect for what I need - please forgive newbie questions in advance! I'm not what you'd call young but have always been interested so it's time to get stuck in!

Hello,
My name is Jereme and i've been cruising this forum for years now and I figured it was time to get on the grid. I'm from Eugene Oregon and now reside in Bend Oregon at the moment because my job requires me to travel to various locations every 9 months to year. I originally as a kid liked to build models and tear apart machines to see how they functioned, sometimes even getting them back together correctly! Now I basically tear down machines for a living and make gadgets when I can find the time. I look forward to more cool information and topics like I've perused so far on the RPF.

Hi all,

Former lurker, new poster here.Plans are getting a Warhamemr 40k suit made by next year's FACTS convention in Belgium ( yeah, that little country in between all the other ones in Europe ).

Have 0 ( read ZERO, nada, nil, nothing ) of costume making experience, but I have some wild ideas running, jumping and doing all other sorts of moves in my head, wich I'm hoping will get me a sweet looking suit.

I like Warhammer 40k, American Football ( novelty here in Belgium ), etc.

If anyone is going to FACTS this year, let me know, i'm planning on going as well, but not in costume ( unless it's a quick and cheap build... :p )

Hello all! I reside in Victoria, Australia and I enjoy attending the many conventions of Melbourne!
I'm a casual cosplayer who loves pulling off over the top cosplays. I'm currently just starting Daedric Armour out of foam.
This is my second time cosplaying as a Walking Dead zombie.

Howdy!!,

I am brand new to this forum! I have always been a comic book and movie nut. I draw and do graphics on occasion, but have recently been fascinated by the awesome replicas people are making here! I really would like to make many of my own, but still trying to find the right first build. I want to do it justice, and it not be too difficult. I will definitely post whatever i do end up doing. The search is still in progress though!

any tips or suggestions are welcome and wanted!!
thanks!

Greetings from the East Coast USA.

Always been a fan of props, dabbled in it with local independent film and now that I'm a homeowner, I plan on taking full advantage of my "man-cave" by filling it with things that I love from movies.

Happy to have been allowed to join the forum, hoping to find some other members who collect Star Wars 1.1 props

Gudday RPF, I'm coming to you from Middle Earth, the land under the land down under, aka - New Zealand. Like many others I've been browsing the rpf for a while, thought it was about time I intro'd myself. I'm a huge fan of prop building and have nothing but the utmost respect for you guys. The creativity and problem solving skills observed here are outstanding. Big props to you all. Pun intended!

Although I use to make models as a kid my journey really started when I thought it would be cool to have a storm trooper in the corner of my video production studio. And so began my discovery of replica props and the world of prop collecting. 4 years later I've filled the movie room, my office and garage with movie collectables, costumes and props. As you all know, it never ends. Thank God I have an understanding wife!

Here's a couple pics of the collection so far, although I'll do this properly in the prop category at a later date. Some of this stuff is screen used, most are replicas...

Done a few kits, mods and weathering myself and have a few more on the cards. I'm a huge movie gun fan, so very keen to get a few of the kits made here (lawgiver, oblivion weapons, auto 9, etc).

So yeah, hi all. Love your work! And cheers for having me.

Tarry.

Hello!

My name is Natalie and I stumbled onto this site when I was looking for ideas on how to make The Winter Soldier's costume. I have never really been into cosplay until I went to see the new movie. Leave it to me to want to make something so difficult for a first timer with no real imagination. I found a thread where folks are making it and hopefully I can follow along there!

Hello!

I'm Azuri, and I'm a student. I'm in a theatre program, and I have a props focus (so this website is super cool). I found it looking for Winter Soldier cosplay ideas. I'm very excited to have found this website!
