Hi guys! I'm particularly new to this forum and all that it has to offer although I have lurked a few times in the past.

Mostly interested in Back to the Future props/replicas and so on. Quite the talented lot seems to reside here.

Hello, first time on the RPF, member of a couple of costuming forums elsewhere and have gotten this forum recommended to me a few times. Do a lot of star wars related stuff and then dabble in almost anything that catches my fancy.

hi all here Marco and Riccardo from Venice Italy thanks a lot for sharing all on this site marvelous 3x4.jpg

Like many, I've ended up here trying to find info on whether a certain piece of decor from a classic movie could be bought. Turns out they don't sell it and never did, so I'm making my own. Until that project is done, I thought I'd post some of the bits and pieces I've picked up via my friends' prop shop.

I'm a screenwriter, have written jokes for Jack FM, and I've worked post production in reality TV.

But through the late 90s/early oughts I worked intermittently at a couple iterations of friends' prop shops. Mostly when they needed a lot of bodies on something. We made hand props for Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Babylon 5. They made the weapons for Van Helsing, the armor and helmets for Starship Troopers (All 500 sets.) They made scanners, guns and even sculpted some futuristic vehicle add-ons for The Sixth Day. They made the eye scanners, badges and the giant car-factory gimballs for Minority Report. One random all-nighter led to me being on the set of The Island, helping deal with the Geoff Darrow style surgery bay that Clone Michael Clarke Duncan wakes in and flees from.

Once we aged a huge stack of fake money for NUMBERS. (Fake movie money is specifically regulated. It looks right from 4 feet away, when you're holding it in your hand it's covered in 'this is not money' disclaimers. You can only buy it in clean bundles, so if you want it to look old and used you have to weather it yourself. Which we did using the washing machine full of poker chips method from To Live And Die in LA)

Another time they made a thicket of fake pot plants for Numbers. They made a functional moon buggy for an HBO miniseries. They rigged up game show sets for Nickelodeon. You could find all kinds of stuff just lying around. Star facecasts. The golden idol from the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I almost don't know where to start... they let me use the machines on my own to do costume work. I got pretty good with a lot of build techniques, but I still don't hold a candle to my friends' accomplishments and stories from the prop realm. I look forward to sharing what I have.

Hello
Been a fan of RPF for years. As time goes by many of the prop forums go down. This one is the staple. Love the work being done and love seeing all the props.
You are all masters.

Hi, all,

I am actually an amateur telescope maker, but fantasy/sci-fi movies and the prop community have been a great inspiration in some of my more imaginative builds like my Moonsilver and Capt. Nemo scopes. I've been lurking on the RPF for a bit and decided it would be a good time to pop my head up. The cross-fertilization between maker communities always leads to new possibilities.

Hi

I've been a member on BOTB for a while now ( altho i'm not a frequent poster, i spend more time reading others topics and drooling over pictures) and thus found my way to this board now. i will try to be a more active poster on both forums since i would like to get into this hobby more in the future. My focus is Batman, and someday i would love to own some completed suits. i've actually been reading a lot of topics from diffrent people and trying to educate myself as to the how & where to get this stuff made from reliable sources. i want to spend a lot of good earned money on this hobby but i have to admit it can seem a little daunting to find out where to go whom to contact for what. So i will read, and read, and read some more and try to get a better idea of who the best people are to get in touch with ( i already have some in mind) and who knows, maybe soon i'll take the first step and order something. in the meantime i look forward to reading this forum and all it's great topics, especially the batman related ones offcourse. Thanks !
PS i am from Belgium...which makes ordering stuff even harder, shipping can be expensive and taking measurements is a headscratcher since we don't measure in inches and such..

Hi guys,
Real imaginative greeting (yeah, I know).
Ive been interested in this sort of hobby for a very long time. Recently found myself with the time to finally indulge myself in it to the fullest, (long story) and am very happy to be apart of this community!
I have a fair amount in skills as a craftman, I built aircraft interiors for a living (using lots of composites as well as veneers, plastics, etc.)
My primary interest at this time is Ironman customing but pretty much love anything to do with movie magic as it pertains to special visual effects.
I look forward to being with folks like myself who embrace this hobby and cant wait to get started!

Hey my name is Mike,
I'm into rock music, sports and movies. but I love designing as well.. I've always thought why pay for something when you can make it. Design it the way you want it. Usually what inspires you, inspires others.. Look forward to sharing my thoughts and designs with everyone. Good luck

Hey there my name is john, but you can call me buck. Im from Portland OR, and I've been lurking on the RPF for a while and It wasn't untill I made my finished my first cosplay that I decided to join. I have made a few props before but I'm still learning and trying new things. My first build was a badass nomad costume that I think came out fairly well. My next build is going to be jax from league of legends, if any one has a 3D printer and is willing to lend a hand I would greatly appreciate it thanks.
Ill be posting the pics for my first build soon

howdy all! Long time lurker. I've previously just casually browsed threads in my research for cosplay builds here and there, but with our latest builds I'm utilising the site more and more. I'm an Aussie, and started cosplaying in 2010. What started off as something fun to do while attending conventions has blown up into a huge hobby. We now cosplay for various charity events too.

I love making props, hate sewing (gotta do what you gotta do though, right!). I have a bad habit of leaving stuff until the last minute and being over-ambitious. My first major builds were Connor Kenway and the Sharpshooter (multiplayer character), from Assassin's Creed 3. I'm currently working on Captain America (Stealth Suit) and Winter Soldier, and not-so-silently praying I get them both finished in time! The drawback to cosplaying with your partner is that you have twice the amount of work to do ;)

Anywho, that's a lil' about me!

Cheers, Lisa

Stumbled in as a item I was looking for was being sold on this site. Sadly cannot get to it as I am not a premium member. Guess I'll have to wait :-(

Anyways, interested in start making my own costumes and things as well as for my BF. He really wants a Mandalorian costume and this might be a good place to start and help him out, as well as help me with Mass Effect costuming

See you all around

Hi! My name is Trevor. Trevor Slattery. NOT THE FACE!

I'm Iggy! I've been cosplaying for almost 6 years now. I've recognized a lot of names on various threads of friends I've met over the years, and I'm glad to finally get my butt on here to share and learn from the best! I've slowly started sewing my own costumes and I've been curious to do prop builds. My most recent piece is a simple Iron Man ARC reactor that I'm rather proud of :)

I look forward to meeting more of you, here on the forums and in real life!

Hello Everyone,

My name is Kevin, and I have just registered on this site. I heard about it while looking up Spiderman suits. I have always wanted to get a Spiderman suit, as he is my favorite superhero. I don't know how i would get one, or what the costs of making one are, but that is the reasons for my finding this site.

As for me, i am a theatre student, in an extremely small town in southern Alberta, Canada. I am an avid movie buff. Happy to be here, and hoping to get to know some of you!

Thanks!

Kevin

I'm guessing that I should have posted here first instead of posting to a thread that held my interest.

Hi, I'm Cenn and I'm a prop replication addict.

Since I am a collector of vintage medical gadgets is stands to reason that I have thus far restricted my replications to the more obscure medical items that seem to pop-up in productions, mainly serum vials and the like. But, that does not mean that I do not have a love of all things props from my favorite movies and shows ;-)

Thus far I have created screen accurate or fan inspired props for the following:
- The Lawnmower Man
- Lost
- Fringe
- Return of the Living Dead

Mostly I have stuck with the vials, but recently I have equipped my office to also start producing PVC ID type cards, I have already made replicas for "The Department of Containment" from Fringe, but I am a ways off from showing that work to the general public.

I do have to say that I truly admire the tenacity of the members here to breathe life into the movies and shows that we all love! I may not be the most talkative person in the world, but I'll pipe up when I think I can help.
