Hello Guys, My Name is Ryan. A recent hospital stay left me with not much to do but surf the net. My love of Star Wars kept bringing me to life sized Han Solo in Carbonite build threads both here and else were. During my stay, I decided I would try it and after my recovery, I did. It turned out great and lit a fire inside me. That was in July, since then I have began collecting and building various Star Wars helmets. Who am I kidding, it seems like all of them...eventually.

Currently, I have collected over a dozen lids, including personally building (prepping, assembly and painting) a HD Designs Snow Trooper, DA TIE Fighter, RS Props AT-ST Driver (Their Snow Trooper Kit was used), SGB Commander Neyo and MLC Jango Fett.

I am currently working on a SGB Kashyyyk Trooper Helmet, and have a Skaught IG-88 head, a KW Designs ARF lid and 4 BSD Phase 2 Clone lids on the way. I hopefully will be making them in to a Commander Gree and Bly, as well as a Shock Trooper and maybe one of SGB's AT-TE Gunners.

I am also waiting to finalize the details on a Evo3 Commander Bacara helmet as well as a Heatshock Galactic Marine Helmet that is currently being cast here in the states. (With HS's permission of course)

I am also patiently waiting on a Moncal AT-AT Pilot helmet, but as we all know, that will take a while.

The list of future projects is, as I am quickly realizing, endless.

I have been using this hobby as a way to help me quite smoking, sanding and prepping every time I crave a cigarette while taking a break from work (as a web designer). So far, it has been a successful strategy and I have been smoke free for 6 months now.

This forum has been a absolute treasure trove of information and advice and I would like to thank every one for the help along the way. A wonderful, friendly community!

Hi name is Jason... looooooong time lurker, but just now joined. i'm a graphic designer and office manager of a sign shop. Love all the creative people here, and am a huge Doctor Who fan, which is why I finally joined. Been over at RangerBoard for a long time, so that means I'm a huge Power Rangers and Sentai fan, as well at the Ninja Turtles.

I look forward to getting more in-depth here and seeing what everyone has to offer. I'm not overly creative in the props department, but have had success with some of the threads here over the years to help me mod some of my existing items.

Hello my friends,

my name's Daniel (or Apo on the Internet), I'm 29 and a costumer from Germany and have been lurking here since a few months, admiring all the greatness that is shown here all the time and learning a LOT of you experienced guys!

I always liked to dress up in self made costumes, the first one I can remember was a Ghostbusters proton pack I made in the early 90's (I was like 8 years old) from a chocolate drink package and some random stuff I found at my grandpa's basement... But only years later as a teen I started to do costumes more advanced, though nothing nearly as complex or accurate as most of the builds that are shown here. Actually I often lacked occasions to wear costumes besides the local carnival events and also lacked fellow costumeres ("Am I the only nerd around my hometown?" - "Erm, yes."), so any sort of convention never occured to me as a nice opportunity to craft and wear new costumes... But after discovering the whole costuming related community in the last months I hope this changes and I am quite eager to attend my first convention in 2014!

I'm a full time designer in real life, interested in lots of topics, especially Sci-Fi (especially Star Trek), Fantasy, Comics (Marvel Fanboy here!), I'm a little into old cars (don't ask me about the technical part, I have NO idea, I only can tell if a car is beautiful or not ^^), driving a '76 Ford Capri myself (actually due to fuel costs it's most times more like owning rather then driving) and I am also very much into LEGO (the collection size increased due to the full time job's money, while building time decreased due to the job - not sure if I like it better that way ^^).

Okay, that's a lot of information about someone you don't know, so maybe I just finish this introduction with a short overview of my most recent projects I'm currently working on (I'll make threads for some of them soon):

- Iron Man Mk. III: Yeah, not the most creative idea, though a huge dream to build a Granov style suit since the Extremis comic came out... This is my long time project, I started with a slow pace this spring and tried this and that (foam, paper, etc.) and the real construction began only a few weeks ago since I was able to convert our garden hut to a decent work space. My plan is to finish it for the carnival season 2014/15 (which starts 11.11.2014), but if it takes longer, I will take the time I need...

- Speed Building Iron Man troop: My boss allowed us to participate at a local company running event wearing light weight IM armors, so I will be building blue and white armors with our illuminated logo at the chest for next year's run in october!

- The 1st Doctor: My most urgent project, I'll wear a Hartnell costume at halloween. To give it a twist, it will be - true to the show - completely in black and white, including my makeup and contact lenses! My girlfriend Maria, also a costumer by heart (we came into contact because of the costumes we wore), does the sewing job and I take care for the rest (right now: the walking cane). It's not 100% accurate, but heavily inspired by Hartnells doctor

While looking for resources and ideas for Hallowe'en, I stumbled upon this place. While, I'm new to costuming (outside Hallowe'en) and cosplay, my interests have been significantly peaked, and I suspect I will be spending a lot more time here.

My current project is a dragon out of EVA for Hallowe'en, and I'm honestly feeling overwhelmed with the options and ideas for my next costume.

Hi All,

Been lurking for what feels like forever. I have been building costumes for what feels like for ever. I am a member of several costuming groups and have a number of Star Wars, Alien/s, and other TV/Movie costumes already. I am currently working on expanding in to new areas and trying to sort out my next project but at the moment haven't decided what to do yet ( I'm leaning towards building a set of NC MAX armor from the Planetside 2 Video game).

as it stands i have only been to 1 convention which was the 2012 Kapow in London where i met and had a photo taken with Mark Miller (creator of Kickass)

i have been learning alot with foam and techniques but still definitely see myself as a novice.

I'm TK and found the RPF after some googling for Iron Man costumes. I had gotten interested when I went to a local FanExpo.
Sadly work doesn't leave me much time to work on it but this is my WIP and first pepakura ever:

Hi everyone!

My name is Anna Maria and I come from a small town in Illinois called Plainfield (the name says it all). I’m in my third year at the Illinois Institute of Art with a tentative bachelor’s degree in Visual Communications. I found this site while doing a Google search for replica Glass Daggers from Skyrim, to use as references and even instruction for my own. I've always been a big fan of costuming, and creating but didn't really start getting into the aspects of it until I started pursuing the career path of a production designer. Creation of Props didn’t go into full swing until I started my internship at Redmoon Theater in Chicago last year. Before that I made props for a short film my friend was directing.

I have many projects lined up to work on but so far I'm in the process of creating a Valkyrie costume (In Norse mythology, She’s one of Odin’s shield maidens who are responsible for bringing worthy slain warriors to Valhalla) and she’s also a Marvel Character (Which I just learned.) I am also working on a Dark Brotherhood Assassin Costume from Skyrim (hence the glass dagger.) which is actually very close to being done. In the past, in addition to my theater work, I created things for a renaissance faire costume, Leather Pauldrons, bracers and Spauldrons , prop dagger, and Utility Belts. Future Projects include, A Wood Elf Costume, and a Loki costume (perhaps femanized?). My costume ideas come with whichever fandom occupies my interest at the point or whichever original story I’m heavily into writing.

I hope to learn much from many of the amazingly talented Prop Masters and Costume Creators on here, and hopefully get help and advice for some of my projects. I look forward to my time here at The RPF.

Hey Guys and gals!

I am new to this forum and to costume building as well! I recently just finished my first suit well technically my second but my Deadpool costume was horrible but it is what got me interested in this forum as having tips and people to look up for advice has really helped me with making my costume that much better! I have just finished my first spider-man costume (TASM movie) I plan on doing a comic book style ultimate Spider-man and a cursed Sasuke from Naruto Shippuden next for San Diego Comic-Con 2014. I have fallen in love with these projects and hope to come up with some original designs! Ill post a few pics of my spider-man costume and i have a thread in the cosplay showcase with more pics of my zentai! well Im excited to be a member of this awesome forum and look forward to seeing everyone's amazing work! Hi, I'm Jill Sowell. Loved the RPF since their advice has helped on multiple prop-endeavors.

I have made a few small props with no real professional materials, just stuff from Walmart or Michaels. I've got some Captain America shields (from satellite dishes), an Iron Man glove (out of foam and a cotton glove and some wires), a sankara stone (I sculpted out of clay), and a good looking Han Solo blaster (it actually is the $10 licensed kids toy but painting it from orange and white to a more accurate representation has made it a prized possession). For Halloween, I made the cricket bat from Shaun of the Dead; found one my size, sanded it, stained it, hand-painted on the decal (borrowing heavily from a previous RPF post), and added some blood splatters. Still in progress is my jedi costume that closely resembles that of Obi Wan from the Clone Wars cartoon series.
