Hi!

My name is Maxwell, Interested in starting a hackerspace in the North Oklahoma City area, getting things together to understand what I need to do, on a personal level, looking to do some Cosplay stuff.

Excited to be a member of this community!

I'm on a couple of the SW forums with the same username. The main project I am working on right now is a custom Imperial themed R2-D2 droid. I'm also slowly working on some ATA Stormtrooper armor to join the 501st. My next project will likely be a Fett helmet and I am looking at making or buying a 1:1 Yoda, preferably an ESB version. I may tackle some sci-fi weapons. Not sure.

Hi rpf! I'm Niko and I'm from Finalnd.
I came here to get inspiration and to make new contacts.

I work as a 3D modeler and exhibition builder and I believe I could learn some new tricks here.

Hey everyone, been on rpf for a few weeks now and decided to finally introduce myself. I stumbled across my new favourite site while looking for costume ideas a few weeks before Halloween (I ended up going as Homer Simpson) and was completely sucked in! The quality of the work I've seen has been amazing, it must take an outstanding level of commitment for even the smallest of jobs sometimes.

I have always wanted to build my own Stormtrooper suit, but I had never really seen the massive range of options one has when going about it until I got here. I think I've finally settled on the one I want, AOTC Clone Trooper.
Then I started wondering about the paint job I wanted on it, whether to go with the shiny, brand new look, or the battle weathered version.
It was while I was re-watching the first episode of Game of Thrones and saw The Hound ride into Winterfell that I started thinking about suits of armour and how cool it would be to make your own set, even from fibreglass or foam, then an image popped into my head of the Clone trooper suit sprayed to look like a weathered suit of armour. Would it be sacrilege to spray a trooper suit in this fashion?

Hi RPF, I'm Thomas from the UK!

I love movies and video games involved in relic hunting such as Indiana Jones, The Mummy, Tomb Raider and National Treasure. I was brought to RPF in my endless search for good film props and replicas. But it is inspiring to see how active other members are on this forum. Everyone is so helpful and fun to chat to.

I look forward to many fun days ahead on RPF!

Howdy everyone,

I'm Dane. I stumbled onto this forum after spending countless hours surfing the web searching for various builds/props/etc. I'm totally enamored with the creativity and adaptation that goes into these projects that people start. I love video games and have always been drawn in to the look and feel of which the creators give the charcters so started searching for a way to replicate these costumes. I stumbled onto pepakura and it seemed like a cheap route and easy intro into delving into this creative outlet. I'm humbled to say I'm a "noob" at this, so any tips, tricks, or general knowledge concerning the wide world of costuming or prop building is completely welcome. After subtly creeping this forum and threads alike, I figured it was high time that I go ahead and register.

Hi rpf,
Im Blaine, heard about you guys from Adam Savage. I joined because im really interested in prop making and saw how many great makers there are in this forum. I will probably try my hand at some scifi stuff first. I can't wait to see what other cool stuff I find around here.

Hello everybody,
My name is Ryan and I'm from Rhode Island.
I first heard about this site from a lot of my Ghostbuster friends and decided to check it out! I'm not new to prop making, but I'm still a bit of a novice. I lookf forward to sharing what I've already made and everything I plan on making in the future with everyone!

Hey guys!
I'm Jessica, from good ol' Wisconsin - capital of the cheeseheads. :p Anywho I've been lurking around this site for months now, and finally decided to join! I've been in the cosplay business for a few years, but never really tried my hand at making my own props/armor, I usually end up buying premade things. Now with a one year old, money is a little tighter and I've found the wonder that is Pepakura. I'm looking forward to trying my hand at prop building and can't wait to get started. There's so much information here. I love it. :)

Hello RPF,
I'm Trever and I'm from West Texas.
I stumbled across this site while I was looking for costume ideas. I was a member if a different site that was all about predators but that was over 4 years ago. I'm pretty sure most of you have heard about it. In fact that was the very first costume build. I'm still novice but I would like to get better at it. I'm interested in making a comic book version of Venom. I'm no stranger to full latex costumes. I look forward to sharing my progress with you all and hope you can share any new tips and tricks along the way. Thanks for taking time to read this and for any future help..

Hi Everyone! Im from QLD, Australia (yep, it is hot here at the moment, and pretty much all the time). I've been following this forum for a while now and thought I'd finally join and share in the fun. There's some amazing and inspiring stuff on here and i can't wait to discuss it with all of you. Theres a great feel here and I'm excited to be a part of it. Ive been making props for small scale productions for a while now, on and off, and I'd like to start making more detailed replicas and exposing them to the general public for criticism (thats you guys!). Look forward to your opinions and hope to post a build of mine soon for you all to see. Thanks heaps and look forward to sharing with you guys.

Good morning everyone. I hail from the place where Ash's boomstick was created. I found this site in my research into making a Sith Acolyte armor set. Big ambitions for my first build, but why not? Provided I don't burn my house down in the process, I will be posting my success.

Hi, everyone.

My name is Nic & I'm from Derbyshire in the UK, England.

I came across this site as I began my obsessive build of the witch king of angmars armour for halloween and from what I've seen so far there seems to be some serious talent here.

I began my frantic build 2 weeks before halloween as I wanted to have my planned pieces ready for the party I was throwing. My aim was to make the helmet from 1.5mm mild steel and the gauntlets and vambraces from 1mm mild steel as well as the robe which I made from custom cut hessian and heavy calico which I dyed black as they were a natural colour when they were delivered. I've attached my finished pieces which I wore for the party (excluding the robes as I don't have a picture). I'm planning on starting totally new pieces so that this time I'm not working to a deadline and have time to experiment with different techniques.

I hope you all like what I've managed to create.

Cheers!

Hi,
I am Tim from Germany, I specially collecting movie prop Police Badges and own a nice collection after more then 10 years :)
Would be happy to get in touch with other collectors !

Hello, fellow costume and prop-makers! Name is BL, and I'm hoping to hone my crafts here. I want to get into the business of prop commissions and here seems like a great place to learn, as well as increase my collection.

Although I'm not new to the RPF this account is. If you search my name you'll find that I have done numerous posts and builds here in the past, the large scratch built 66 inch TOS Enterprise is one of many.

I did have some trouble here and at the time simply left the forum rather than deal with trolls to take care of my wife who was fighting for her life at the time from cancer. On February 6th of this year she passed at home. I was at her side to the end. So needless to say some bashing and troll abuse was low on my priority list and still is.

I am here again to help my friends that do post here and sometimes share my work in the field.

There is a lot of great work here along with some very passionate talented people and I commend you all.

For those of you not familiar with my work you can visit my many websites and my blog-YouiTube channel. Also IMDB.

Hello everyone I introduced myself when I first joined but have finally been able to clear my plate a bit to try my hands at creating my own props or costumes just for my kids and family to enjoy. Is there a way to find members on this forum near me? I live in Louisiana and would love to know that there are members around here that share in the interest and can help each other with projects if need be.

Greetings everyone. My badge says Dave but you can call me Boz. New to prop and costume making but looks like a great opportunity to be creative and get the juices flowing. Been looking over the forum for a month. Everyone seems really supportive and totally enthused by new work and new ideas!

I'm from the UK(Leeds) and write for lifestyle blog. Would love to meet up with anyone close to go over your collections and creations!
I'm in the process of putting a Batman Arkham origins suit together, first build!
Look forward to hearing from you all

Well, looks like I made my first posting mistake by posting an intro outside of this thread! Please don't hurt me!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to stop in and introduce myself. I'm Eric and a newbie to RPF. I'm a Redmond tech company minion and this is what I do in my ample free time.

I've been looking through your forum for the past week and I can't tell you how helpful you all have been and how impressed I am at the level of skill and talent here. Truly amazing!

In taking the PKD collection plunge, I have ordered a Enforcer Snub kit from Rick Ross which I should get early next week, hopefully. His work is wonderful and a natural extension of the Blade Runner aesthetic, IMO. Can't wait to start on the build. This will be my second build (I built a long rifle from a kit in high school.) I'll post pics as I progress.

Also, I've committed myself to purchasing a fully-assembled World Con Blaster from Richard Coyle. It''ll be an awesome Christmas present to myself.

Future plans include:
- Tomenosuke Rubber Blaster
- Tomenosuke Blaster Pro kit (if they release more next year)
- Assorted Star Trek (film and TV) phasers and communicators (I watched TOS as a kid when it originally aired...and on a B&W TV!)
- Mal's Pistol from Firefly/Serenity
- The Korben Dallas Blaster from The Fifth Element
That should be good for starters.

Yep, I caught the bug bad but this is one of those YOLO moments! And Blade Runner is my all-time favorite movie!

I hope I can ask questions along the way given all of your collective knowledge. (And please let me know if I overstep any forum rules as I learn my way around.)

Thanks everyone!
Eric
