Greetings!!
Long time lurker(joined in 2010), but this is only my 4th post(all 4 in the last week or so).
My name is John, and I live in Plainfield, Indiana. That's just about 15 mins west of downtown Indianapolis. It's been 3 long
years ago, so I don't really remember what I was looking for, or researching when I joined back in 2010. Haven't really spent
much time on the forums here until recently with the start of my Umbrella Corps Centurion build thread.
I got started into costuming/props at the ripe age of 37. Guess your never too old to learn something new. LOL I am member
of both the 501st Legion and the Rebel Legion. With the 501st, I am a TIE pilot(callsign: Wolfman37) as well as an Imperial
Bridge Crewman. With the Rebel Legion, I am Jedi Knight Jaryn Xur. I am a huge Star Wars fan, and have several other related
costumes either in the works, or on my to do list.
I dabble a little in prop making. A few years ago, I decided I wanted a custom blaster to use with my Tie Pilot. For those that
are familiar with both, I combined elements of the E-11, and the SE-14R, into what I jokingly call the SE11-14R. It's comparable
in size to the SE-14R, but use 3 components from the E-11(ammo clip, the part the d-ring is connected to on the rear cap, and
the E-11 front nozzle with front sight). It also has a rifle scope like the SE-14R.
My g/f and I started a small prop business in May 2012, making and selling accurate rank badges for Imperial Officer costumes.
This past spring, we added officer belts to the mix. The great thing is there are 5 Imperial costumes that use the same style
belt, so we have the potential for lots of new customers as new people work on costumes to join the 501st. If you want you
can check us out on Facebook. Just search for TiggWolf Creations.
We eventually want to get into vacforming armor and helmets. But, that will be a long process, as I don't possess the artistic talent
to carve wood to make mold bucks from. I know there are other methods for making them(hydrocal, etc..), but when you do things
on a one salary budget(I am currently out of work), you try to save money where ever you can without sacrificing quality. So, we'll
get there when we get there.
Other than that, I am a huge fan of sci-fi, fantasy, Marvel, DC, horror, and most things related to all that. Well, I think that is
enough rambling for now. There is a wealth of information and helpful people here, and I am proud to be an up and coming
RPF'er!!
