Greeting RPF!

I first found this forum while looking at how to go about making a Spider-Man costume in traditional Steve Ditko/John Romita Sr. fashion and have been lurking around for several months. I finally decided to join up now that I am working on things to contribute to the community.

I've always loved working with my hands and making something out of nothing ever since I was little, so moving on to costuming and prop creation is a natural inclination for me. I look forward to giving back and expanding the community very soon.

G'Day everyone!

greetings from the 'land down under', Australia! I'm an art student in my last year of high-school with an overactive imagination and I discovered this awesome forum whilst researching making my own Kili and Fili costumes from "The Hobbit" movie. I decided to join up and here I am!

I immersed myself in the worlds of famdoms and cosplay mostly as an escape from the mundane life out here in rural Australia. When i was around 9 my Dad made me a sword from metal scraps and to this day I am still determined to be a epic swords woman! (even if i must stay up all night making my elven armor!)
This forum is great, the community is amazing, and I'm looking forward to being part of it and contributing! What started out as a joking idea between friends has now lead to 3 of us making Dwarf costumes for the premier of the second Hobbit movie!

Hello RPF Community! Posting from sunny California, USA. I've always wanted my own IronMan helmet and with some of the prices I've seen online, I thought it would be impossible... Until I discovered Pepakura. I've always been a pretty handy crafter so I thought I'd give it a try. With the help of my Silhouette Cameo, I've taken a fond interest of the craft. I've done a few foam pieces and would like to start trying some resin, fiberglass builds. Looking at a war machine build right now... Along with Pepakura, I've started tinkering with Arduino with no prior electronics experience... Hopefully this community will help me out in those regards. Looking forward to getting to know some of you (as I'm pretty new to forums as well.)

Uh, yeah! I'm Sophia, been posting for a little while but thought I should say hi properly!
I'm an Aussie lady and I make stuff. All kinds of stuff. I've been sewing forever, used to make mascot costumes and medieval clothing, taught myself lace making, sculpture, leatherworking, basic millinery, wood carving and all sorts of other stuff. I'm now trying my hand at costume fabrication, learning pepakura and fibreglassing and all the fun things all you talented people seem to be so good at.
Working on some Skyrim armour right now, trying to get a few friends together to do a skyrim group next year at a local convention. Should be fun!

I'm Mel, from Ottawa, Ontario, .

I only recently joined since I am looking for screen accurate (or at least pretty close to it) items for a Fem!Dean (Deana) and Fem!Sam (Samantha) cosplay for Salute to Supernatural TORCON 2013. In particular, I am looking for a really nice Ruby's Knife and Amulet replica.

I do some mixed media art for fun and sometimes for sale at shows. I would really like to get into prop building (and sewing), for my own personal projects at first, but I don't even know where to start - this forum seems like a good place, though I find it hard to navigate since it is not organized by shows/games, etc, LOL. I like RPGs (Skyrim <3), supernatural dramas (Supernatural <3), and period pieces...

I love leather... feathers... and fur, ^.~

Hello! I've been making props and costumes for a while, though I usually tend towards the more "original" or "inspired by" side of prop making rather than replicas (though I did make a Sailor Mercury transformation wand for my sister when I was in middle school). I am an avid convention person, though I've been exclusively on the staff side of the equation since 2005. I'm finally working a few cons where my job allows me time to cosplay, so I'm excited to get back into the swing of things and make some actual replica props to go with my costumes.

Hey everyone, I'm Anthony and really in awe of this forum and just getting my bearings here. Sooo much to take in. I'm the usual Star Wars/Star Trek fan as well as any recent or older Sci-Fi/Adventure movies. As my ID suggests I'm into astronomy (and photography) as well. Hello, the name's Alec, coming to you from Minnesota.
I've built costumes and props casually for a while, mostly for Convergence in Bloomington, but have been getting into bigger stuff more recently. I've read plenty of threads here, but figured I should make some posts of my own. This is such a great community.
Previous projects: Minecraft, Alien Hunter, Airship Captain (w/ Edison gun), lab accident result, Nathan Drake, etc.
Current Project: Captain America Rescue Ver.
Future Projects: Dalek Human, Whisper Man, whatever inspires me.

I found this site by researching Dexter props and found that there is amazing talent on here and TRUE fans thank God! Just viewed a piece by Dark Passenger that was incredible. I made a few paper props but am excited to start on bigger items!

Weapioneer here, bringing with itself mid level skills in modeling in both the plane of reality and computing. Love gaming, weaponry(wonder what gave that away), cosplaying, roleplaying, larp. Well, what to say... I'm rather obsessed with Star Wars, though any ol' sci-fi will do.

My current projects are assembling a "Hipster" Solo costume, wherein I'm currently down to finding the boots and the holster (I'm looking for someone to create one based on Han's, but shaped to accommodate a 35mm or Holga camera instead of the gun), and creating wooden versions of the LEGO Star Wars big models, using some rough math and thin balsa wood.

I'm only just now beginning to be able to afford some of my fun interests, so it's exciting to get to be a part of this forum.

Howdy! I’m mischa, i live in San Francisco (originally from New Zealand), and have always been really into movie production, design, and props. I recently came across the forum after doing some research into some props from the movie prometheus.

I wish i had the talents to make prop replica’s, perhaps one day i will, but in the meantime i’ll just continue to be inspired by all the amazingly talented people here!

I have however recently bought my first screen used props, an Ampule from Prometheus, and also one of the wall panels from the life pod (WARNING WARNING! in big red flashing!) also from prometheus.

Hopefully i’ll pick up some more in the near future!

Anyway, really enjoying reading over all the old threads here, and the current ones. You guys are all amazing!
