Hi everyone! My name is Jomkit, though I go more commonly by James, I live in Maine, and I've been lurking on this website for a while now. Finally decided to join the community so I can get some help and tips on my own props and costumes and what not. I hope I can give back with my own knowledge, thought it is limited currently due to inexperience.
I got into costuming through some friends, and I've been to one convention where I was very inspired the many other great costumes I saw. I learned about theRPF while I was searching up how to do several costumes and props. I saw links and recommendations to visit the site often, so I did. Often. well anyway, yeah I'm excited to be part of the community and I hope I'll be able to share some of my stuff when I can.

Hi Everyone!
I'm Rainbow. I design costumes and non functional robot arms and things. I came across this site when I was looking at some iron man foam builds. Love what you all are doing and hoping I'll learn a lot as this is a totally new fronteir for me. I'm mostly interested in using techniques from here to build original costumes, specifically I'm working on giant stiltwalking futuristic warriors. Wish me luck!

Hello everyone. I found this forum when Adam Savage mentioned it several times in one of his videos. I have always been interested in making props from movies and video games etc. and I thought this would be a great place to start. I have minor wood and metal working knowledge from classes I have taken and I hope I can make some of my own replicas. Thanks for reading.

Hey guys! I found this site about an hour ago! I did a little searching on making costumes and found myself here. There is a lot to look at but everything I have seen looks fantastic! Hope to start on something soon myself. Good luck to all of you! Keep up the good work!

RPF Newbie - Justin Roberts
Hey Everyone!
I'm glad to finally join the RPF - I heard about this forum mainly from watching videos of Adam Savage on Tested and thought it would be a great place to share maker stories, gain inspiration and ask questions about techniques I haven't yet perfected.
I love to make anything I can learn how to. I studied architecture, sculpture, photography and web development in college and developed skills to visualize things in my head and bring them into the world through modeling. Whether I'm building a deck for my backyard, pouring a bronze mold or making a halloween costume, I try to research anything I don't know as much as possible to create objects of high quality and craftsmanship. I'm looking forward to accessing the massive knowledge base you all have gathered here!
My favorite costume I've made to date was a human-scale, mechanical AT-ST walker for Halloween 2011. I conceptualized and built it in a week so it's lacking an amazing amount of detail but I'm proud of the scale and mechanics of it moved. I'll get some pictures up for you all to take a look.

Im Sarah, Im fairly new to this, but I love films and a huge fan of the props. Seen as I'm on a Fine Arts course in uni I thought why not try to make props from shows I love. So I looked around and found the Tested Youtube page and Adam Savage swears by this forum so here I am.
Im hoping to be producing Jewellery and other randomness from TV and Films for example Damon's ring in TVD or River Songs Journal.
So thats a little about me and why Iv joined , Love the forum so far and made contacts very quickly.

Hey all,
My name is Jason and I'm from Birmingham, Alabama. Every year I tell myself I'm going to put together a really awesome costume for con season, and I never do. I'm a hefty kind of guy, so there's not a lot of characters that I've felt like I could do justice to.
I signed up on the boards looking for advice, insight, and ideas on how to do an awesome Robert Baratheon from Game of Thrones costume. I'll probably make some posts later on as I get lost trying to figure out how to find fabric that matches the screen costume, and all that good jazz. I'm very much a newbie when it comes to sewing or constructing, so that'll be a learning experience. Luckily my mother is a good seamstress and I've got several crafty friends that I'm not above exploiting for help.
Anywho, nice to meet you all..you do some incredible work, and I look forward to talking to you more!

Hello all... again.
I haven't been on here much and decided I would need to use this as a tool for not only learning but to gain more knowledge of what it means to be a "prop maker".
For the last few months or so, I have really been doing a lot of designing in the PREDATOR bio helmet area. Just simple, front facing designs... but designs nonetheless, and have had a good turnout of people who enjoy them. I am really wanting to dig my heels in and start to bring a lot of these designs to fruition. So, I decided to come here and see if I can learn a bit more on the whole aspect of creating props and understanding what it takes to make my ideas become a reality (especially in the laser and LED department).
I hope to be here a while and share some of my work in the future.
