Hello All.
I'm John, A Theatrical Technical Director from South Carolina and after my first Convention (Dragon*Con 2012) a HUGE Prop and Replica fan. I have always had an interest in them before, collecting a few things here and there but the convention really opened my eyes to their construction and since with my job I have access to a full shop I figured why not see what trouble I can get into.

I learned about this site during my last semester of school and truly wish i would have done more with it.

My current projects are making a Redd heart dress from the looking glass wars, Cat the assassin from the same books.

Well I'm Zheifer. I've actually been lurking in this forum for awhile now lol. I was led here by google since I'm currently working on a daft punk helmet replica. For awhile I could just find any answer to any question I had by simply searching for it, but now that I'm in a little more trouble and can't find the answer I thought I would register to see if I could get some help. Plus the community seemed rather nice. Hope to have a good stay here, learn alot, and meet some new people ^_^

Salutations!
I am brand new to all of this - I've always had artsy tendencies, but alas, I also have what Futurama fans might recognize as "stupid fingers", so I've always imagined cool stuff in my head, but left it at that. The first outfit I thought of making was an AT-AT pilot, but I'm having some trouble finding a light-colored flight suit. When I saw the Avengers in May, I decided that I HAD to have a Loki costume, and I found this site looking for helmet how-to's/replicas. I'm just a baby as far as all the building is concerned - I've never made anything like this and I can't really sew, so this'll probably be a long (but hopefully fun!) journey. I've seen some really neat things here as a lurker, and look forward to learning a lot from the talented members here!

Hey all!

Amateur prop/replica maker here.
And when I say amateur, I mean VERY amateur.

I've been interested in prop making and prop design for a good couple years, but I only recently found the RPF when looking up homemade Bane costumes after seeing TDKR.

So I've spent the last couple of weeks lurking here, and I finally decided to sit down and make an account to post some of my works in progress!

Hello everyone!

I'm not very well versed in making and the only prop I have under my belt is a stylized Freddy glove that I made a couple years ago but I'm interested in learning more and collecting more skills. I'm also a big fan of horror makeup and costumes. Most of my friends all think I'm nuts for spending several weeks planing, piecing together and detailing a costume and then spending upwards of three to five hours in front of a mirror doing makeup on myself before hitting the bar on Halloween.

I got lucky the other day when I was searching for pics on google and I came accross this site. I've been lurking the past few days and I love what I see, and now that I'm registered I hope to become a valued member in no time.

Anyways, I've never built/designed any props before, but I can't wait to try and I already know I'm gonna love buying things from The Junkyard.

Hi I'm new, never done any propping just a bit of model making of old, was searching around for an iron man suit (as seems to be the case) and stumbled happily on your site, the level of detail and work is just amazing and inspires me to have a go, I'd love a suit for myself (scaled down, only a short arse) and one for my son, it's amazing the techniques that are out there now but I could never really find too much info, with all the foam and pepakura templates I think I will have a go, I am an experienced DIY'er (wood, plaster etc.) and currently work as an engineer for a contact lens manufacturer (maintenance) fixing and servicing robots PLC stuff and general plant upkeep, Oh I live in Whiteley in Hampshire and am a keen motor sports fan and supporter of Southampton FC (I hear the boo's already), so that's a bit about me, will keep a keen on the forums for hints and tips, if anyone can point in the direction of templates and the like it would be helpful, cheers all, ta ta.

hello, my name is al im currently residing in the DC area but im most known for my NYCcc and local new york appearances as RIDDICK. all my stuff is up on my deviantart page ajb3art on deviantART

i enjoy fabricating a lot, but i can't sculpt so i work a lot with foam and found objects modified and re hashed for props (ol 1960s way haha) but id say as far as this place goes im still on the novice end. im mostly here to learn and pass along praises to great props and costumes. thanks for having me.

G'day everyone, joined this site with a thirst for knowledge on all things model building.
Have been out of the game for quite awhile, but have been slowly building up model kits and accessories - ready to jump back in.
Would like to learn about electronics and lighting for spaceships, but some of those (1:350 enterprise anyone) look a little daunting, but I am up for a challenge.

Hi there all!!!!!

Everything I've read so far and continue to read tells me that this community is a masterful place to start on propping. I'm new to this but am quite ambitious on all endeavors. I look forward to learning, searching for help and contributing when and however I can.

Looking for any and all advice on numerous replicas.....Star Wars, Gears Of War, Assassins Creed, Iron Man(War Machine), Predator, NFL Robot, and basically any costume I can build then work on and create a family of suits for my wife and son who's on the way. I know the time will fly and since every build will be from the heart or for my heart they will continue to grow as will I. Well, thank you and let's let the learning begin because I'm so excited to have opened this door.....Now all I want is something "spiffy" to wear thru it.....

Good morning all!
My son and I have always enjoyed Halloween and the process of making our own costumes. He has recently found some friends who are into the same thing so now the expectation is there to make bigger and more awesome costumes and props. The content and talent that is located within these pages has sparked a fire that was always smoldering but never really burning until now. Thanks for all the ideas and techniques! Love it.
