Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi there. Andre From Denver here. Came across this board looking for information on building a mars attacks costume. I find myself a sort of accidentally into costumes. My company does a Halloween party for the kids / family every year. A few years back, I started dressing up and every year, the expectations have grown.

Last year I was a green army soldier and I've been pretty stressed on how to beat that costume. I think I have figure it out as long as I can find a head. I will post photos when finished.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone,

My name is Val and I live in New Orleans. I'm very excited to finally join the RPF and learn, share, and collaborate with all the great folks on here! I am lucky enough to make my living from costuming, mostly for the haunted attraction industry. I've known about this forum for ages, but looking for tips on creating a Borg costume for myself finally got me to join. I'm usually too busy to keep up with forums, but I think this one is a "keeper". I have a great deal of sewing experience which I'm always happy to share ;-)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi Everyone, new here so thought i'd introduce myself. currently working on a man of steel costume ready for halloween and planning iron man mark 7 afterwards.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I google around for costuming tutorials pretty much all the time and finally found this place! I'm really happy with the high skill level of the members here and have learned tons already just by lurking. I'm primarily a lurker... everywhere, but with a new job where I can actually afford the Most Expensive Hobby I have some plans to go a little nuts and finally make a bunch of my dream projects. I'll do my best to un-lurk and share :)

I love to make armor, create fancy makeup (dabbling a tiny bit in prosthetics when I can afford moldmaking supplies- had an adventure learning to use foamed gelatin last halloween, its STINKY.), and style & dye wigs the most. Craft foam is my favorite thing in the entire world, so it amused me a bit to see the attitudes of being being "converted" to foam around because I've been a fan or it forever. I'm always looking for ways to create flexible and/or lightweight pieces without resorting to messy and expensive moldmaking materials and foam is really where it's at! I think people never give paper mache enough credit either!

My dream costume is to do a transformer that turns into a car and drives around, you know how awesome it is when people actually pull that off so I am determined to do the same no matter how long it takes and how irresponsible the cost *snort*

attached a pic of me last year from halloween, learned how to make gelatin prosthetics with a great tutorial on instructables. Some unicorn ears and a horn for a friend, and armor pieces made from dollar store placemats, wonderflex, hot glue and aluminum foil :)

Hey everyone, I've been one of those people who's browsed the TheRPF for a while, but only recently registered (why didn't I do it ages ago, I could have participated heh?).

I live in Adelaide, South Australia and what else can I say? I've been interested in movie props and costumes since a was small and collected a lot of replicas, but only a few months ago began to tinker with making my own bits and pieces.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone, i am Mataleo an IT/Sports nerd from New Mexico. The two dont really go together but i am what i am. I dont remember how i got to the site, but got here and now i cant leave it. I am truly inspired by what i see here on this site by amazing artists, which made me start on my own project. I will put it up once i get further along. What can i say love this site and the people seem very cool and down to help out with advice.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Great site! Some of you guys rival Hollywood grade costumes!
I have always been told I am very skilled at drawing. Huge passion of mine! Now looking to transfer that over to sculpting. I have never really done it before but would like to start. But as of right now I know nothing about it (Where to get Clay, what kind of Clay, how to make molds, etc...)

So I am just reading and learning as much asI can right now. Bare with me if I ask stupid questions hahaha:$

Thanks and great to be here!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey everybody! I wish I had half the collection of some of you guys. I love anything Harry Potter and am planning on making my first replica, the Quidditch balls set, but I haven't had any luck finding a suitable trunk yet. I also need some help learning how to make molds and stuff.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey everyone! New member here but I've been browsing for a long time trying to get some tips and ideas. I don't have near as much time for costuming as I wish I did but I do love it so I decided to join up and share some of my work.

At the moment, I'm trying to put together a pair of Edward Scissorhands gloves that look better than the crappy store bought pair so if you've made some, I'll probably be looking at your thread shortly!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello! I found this site while looking for a decent lightsaber hilt, and have since become addicted to prop replica collecting thanks to all of the talented people on these forums. I have very little skills when it comes to making prop replicas, but I'd love for it to become a hobby of mine.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

What's up everyone! First off I'm very happy to be here, surrounded by tons of talented people who devote a great deal of time and effort into their creations. I've been lurking on this site for a while, but before I came across this site I was an avid user on the 405th since the days of Halo 2. Ironically enough I've never managed to finish a project. Great first impression right?

Bear with me on this introduction because it'll vary from first person to "third person" quite often!

Anyway, my "stage name" is Five Foot Negative. He's an extremely lively character I created who produces and performs EDM. I'm still chipping away at his back story and everything but I've got a lot down so far. But just in case most of you aren't into that kind of music I'll save it for later.

Like me, Five Foot Negative is a huge video game fanatic and a huge movie buff. I've always liked the idea of performing while hiding my identity (Yep, highly influenced by Daft Punk of course) but to be unique I decided to include a back story for everything. For now, Five Foot Negative wears a variety of helmets or masks from video games, or movies. I use that as a tactic to try and gain attention from fans of said movies or games, and of course to up my view count on Youtube!

It's been a year since I started this project and about a month ago I managed to come up with an original design for a helmet. Unfortunately I will not be showing that helmet for a while, but keep your eyes peeled! So I'm joining this site to learn as much as possible and possibly befriend a few people who could help me in making this dream a reality!

For anyone interested, here's my Facebook fan page! It'd mean a lot of you check it out, along with the other links on the page, subscribe, and maybe even spread me around!

Again, I'm glad to be here and I can't wait to watch new projects unfold and meet more incredible people! If you have any questions, shoot me a PM I'd be more than happy to answer them!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey there.
So I'm new here. I don't have any prop making background. I'm just crafty and creative. My first project is planning Starkillers lightsaber from The Force Unleashed 2 game and find someone who would help me machine and realize it. I just started learning Solidworks. In the past I've used and learnt a bit of 3D Studio Max modeling and stuff.
My main hobby is music. I built 2 e. guitar bodies. I'll try to do another one and this time I'd make the neck also, so it would be a wholel guitar build.
I hope my experiences in this new field would be positive!

Hello,
My name is Joe Russo and I am new to this board. I have some friends here and just got around to saying "Hi" and making my name known.
I have created Knight Rider replica's since 1993 and am a CAD Designer by trade. My 3 year old daughter takes up most of my free time, but I am stealing a little back late at night...
I have been reading up on this forum and look forward to being an "official" member.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi there,
Found this site while searching for anything about Master Replicas. I am new to prop collecting in general. I run an Ebay store ( Upper Shelf Collectibles ) that sells a little of everything but mostly Vintage Movie Posters, and Celeb photos and the occasional prop that I run across. If your interested in something let me know. I do a lot of research online and phone looking for pieces.

Thanks
Mark
