re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Well, this is my first time here, and I'm excited.
My collection is practically non-existent, but I'm eager to start it. Before, when I have drooled over custom replicas I've seen, they always seem to link back here - so I finally decided to come here. Hello, Replica Prop Forum World!

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Well, I guess I should post here and introduce myself:

Hello!

I haven't worked much on props. Mostly, I've been doing work for Ren Faire's and conventions (Anime, Sci-Fi, etc.).

I'm a leatherworker, and can do most types of fiber arts (tatting, macrame', and such). I usually work with my wife in doing costumes for re-enactments (1590's English, Victorian, Civil War).

The photos are of a scabbard and shield I did for a close friend, just for an example of what I've done in the past.

Hi guys! Newbie builder from Utah here, starting up with cosplay and armor builds. The most I've ever built are model planes from kits, though I work at a violin shop now which is teaching me a lot of control and attention to details.

I am working on a Fallout T-45d armor set right now, as well as the super sledge, and I hopefully can get some tips and pointers from you guys as soon as the thread is started. I also plan to do a foam Mass Effect armor to pair with a friend who is working on an asari, and a couple of prop weapons to go with it.

See you around!

Hi! I'm new here :D

Hello, soooooo I'm new here (obviously or I wouldn't be posting in this thread).
I am a Sweeney Todd cosplayer who enjoys collecting various items from the movie. I thought I should join this forum and share some of my items and maybe a bit of my experience with the replica props I have acquired.
So hi people! :D *waves razors*
(just attached a pic of my razors for fun hehe)

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey I'm Brent. I stumbled upon this forum yesterday while searching for Maltese Falcon and Goonies replicas. From the couple of contacts I've been able to make so far, it appears that I definitely found the right place :cool.

I tend to collect a variety of esoteric things (to the occasional consternation of my wife, but much to the delight of my young kids), one of those is replica movie props. Mostly I look for the smaller stuff that I can display on a bookshelf-- the Staff of Ra headpiece, Cursed Aztec gold, etc. I also have a bunch of the replica James Bond chips that I use for the occasional poker game, as well as a couple of the actual movie prop chips.

In any case, I look forward to educating myself on everything else that I've been missing! :lol

Hello ! I'm Helena, just a boring 21 year old who aspires to make something visually pleasing one day. Hahaha. I'm a huge fan of cosplay/costumes (hoping to do a diploma next year) and props is something I'm starting to think about heading into. But I hope to become a good member and try to post and not lurk so much... :p

Hello, hello! On here to research making an ESB Vader :)

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I guess I should introduce myself!
I signed up about a month ago, although I don't post all that much. I don't build or collect props myself, but I love seeing all of the cool creative work people do here.
I'm actually a 3D modeler/animator, as both a job and a hobby, and I share the same passion to accurately recreate models and capture that special something that has inspired me on TV and film. I just work with a different medium. :p
The devotion and dedication of people in this community to scour for information and strive for accuracy is something I relate to very much.

And if anyone ever needs a 3D modeler........ :D

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all, I've dropped in from time to time for the past few months. I love looking at all the progress pics of various items, as well as the finished products of course.

Likes: Star Wars, Comics (collection has decreased a bit over the years, but my prized Hulk 181 remains), movies (400+ DVD & Blu), home theater, models, XBox360.

Not really many props in my collection yet, but I do have a Jedi costume (wife made the fabric parts, I made the belt and a homemade saber hilt), and a Don Post Boba Fett helmet I've repainted and tried to make a bit more accurate.

A lot of pieces in my collection are vinyl and resin models. I have some of the Screamin' 1/4 scale Star Wars kits, as well as a few 1/6th scale. I also completed the Polar Lights 1/350th Enterprise-A last year, and my wife got me a Christopher Reeve 1:1 bust for Christmas.

Unfortunately I recently discovered that was a recast. No harm intended, but lesson learned. Hopefully becoming a member here will help me with those situations in the future.

I've also toyed with some Pep files lately (Iron Man) but need to figure out how to scale them properly. The helmet fit wasn't too bad, but I think the repulsor is sized for my 8 year old's hands.

Also thinking about giving Boba Fett's jetpack a go.

Hi.

I've been in a couple movies in the last 5 years, and I've been collecting Military stuff for over 15 years, and often that's included many Sci-Fi military items, mostly from the movie Aliens. I have a fleet of Military Vehicles, a vast collection of uniforms, gear, and equipment, and loads of firearms - some of which I manufacture myself.

Lots of cool photos here:

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all!

I've been lurking over the last couple months reading this and that and trying to get a feel for the forums. You all seem like pretty nice people. I feel lucky to have found this place.

I work making props in the Boston Theater scene doing my best to scratch out an existence in said field. It's hard to support yourself but I'm having a go at it. Still, it sparked my interest and I've made the leap recently to trying to work in the field in Cinema by hooking up with 481, the movie props guild here in Boston. (Overhire, taking it slow) I've absolutely no idea where this choice of career is going to take me but I feel strongly it's what I want to do.

Here's hoping I can share from my own experiences. :)

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all!

I'm very impressed with the incredible talent and knowledge I see in these forums. I have already learned quite a bit by skimming through the forums over the past few days.

I hope to see some of these creations in real life.

I look forward to getting some tips from those of you who are adept and perhaps learn enough so that one day I can help a noob or two start making some good stuff.

I hope to get to know some of you.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello guys,
I am glad to finally find some nice forum about all kind of replicas... I am just starting to make something on my own, but I think I will need to gather enough skills first. I looked up for Fallout tips on armors and other stuff and find this... this nice place :). So, this is it... my first thing I am working on... the T-51b helmet from Fallout series... now just in form of a paper model...

Its still enough work before I will make this perfect (and long time, coz I spent almost all of it in the work)... (Hope I can...).

So... something about me? I am hard-working musician with many interests in art... but this thing is new for me... So, will be back later, I must go to continue working (currently placed my butt in the work...).

P.S.: Nice comunitty here :)

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everybody,

my name is Bernd, although I like my real life nickname "Bone" better.
I live in Germany and work as a graphic artist, my work ranging from comics to high-end 3D stuff.
I am also a member of the Artoo Builders Club and currently working on an all-plastic-Artoo.
After years of lurking and learning by reading this forum I took the chance to register when registering was open.
Right now I am considering building a HIC or the Ark.
Although not a raving fanatic with screen acurateness, I like to collect all the info I could get before commiting to a project, because this hobby can be very expensive and I don't want the final result look like a piece of _.
With all these experts around, I feel absolutely confident to be in the right place!

Cheers,

Bone
