re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello guys, I'm Natalia, a 20 year old Graphic Design student from Uruguay. I've been cosplaying for three years now, and I want to get better with every costume. Here are some of my costumes:

Oluha from CLOVER (manga) girl on the right

And my latest costume, Quorra from Tron: Legacy (I did the Rinzler costume as well)

Hi. I've been eyeing the forum for quite a while, finally decided to join up and see what's going on. I've been working on movie props since I was a little kid, toying around with tools in my Grandpa's workshop. One of my very first projects was an Obi-Wan Lightsaber made from those old toy building blocks. A good start, but with a few years of knicks and scrapes, trial-and-error, upgrades in materials, and a LOT of luck, I found my way here. Now I am a filmmaker myself, owner of Brown Hat Productions. A lot of my energies are focused on the Batman, Indiana Jones, and Star Wars universes. I'd like to note that my work lacks the "official" details of the props. In most cases, I try to make as-functional-as-possible pieces, so sometimes I get a little too caught up in making things that really work over the finer aspects.

I thought i might post some pics of my work.

(Sorry about some of the fuzzy image quality)

On the Batman front -

One of my latest attempts at the reel portion of the 1989 Speargun. This one is made mostly from 16 gauge riveted steel. Inside is a steel cable reel.

A (semi) functional CO2 launcher based on the No Man's Land Grapple Gun. I haven't worked out the kinks yet...

Based on the "cape idea" from The Dark Knight - this is my plan for paintball - to have a spring-loaded tent-like cloth that throws open, working as a sort of deployable cover. This still needs springs and skeleton arms, but the "breakway" system works. The thing explodes open to release the cloth. This one is on hiatus because I'm working on a fiberglass version - much lighter weight.

Next, to my Star Wars equipment -

Here is my latest attempt at a hybrid Anakin/Luke ROTS/ANH/ESB lightsaber modeled to look like a Graflex. I don't have a full view picture to show you, but here this one is.

For the flashgun-style sabers I developed my own method for making aluminum grips instead of rubber.

Here is a WIP pic of my weathered version of the Anakin lightsaber.

My Qui-Gon saber built from 1-1/4" aluminum tubing.

Lastly, my functional Master Chief paintball helmet.

Hey there, everyone. I just thought I'd stop in and say hi.

I've been a member of the Sideshow Freaks board for a while, then realized "why waste all day looking at only smaller sized collectibles?"

So here I am.

Hi all, I totally missed this intro thread. Not much to say, unfortunately, I'm more of a consumer than a builder. Fixing little errors on my Transformers with a file is as advanced as I can do. Mainly came here looking for Green Lantern rings, but I've gotten caught up seeing everyone else's amazing work, as well as the positive and supportive community here :)

Hello forum!

I found this site by accident searching for Darth Vader armor, but I'm glad I joined up :) I've been collecting movie props and collecables for some time now Although I am not skilled enough to make my own props, I can appriciate the time, effort, and skill put into such amazing work. Myself I am working on a Darth Vader costume and like most people here opted for the Rubies suit which was ok at first, but I needed to be outside or cooled down to avoid passing out :lol I have had the oppertunity to wear my costume to a few local events and had a blast! Recently I have ordered a custom suit from CP on *bay which is well ventalated, not to mention made to fit me (6"4" 230lbs) now I have to address the armor portion of the new suit. I look forward to talking to you. Robert

Hey I'm Chris

I stumbled upon his site while researching a Tron costume and was overwhelmed by the massive thread you guys have going on about it. In that single thread I've already learnt to much more about costume design (and I'm only a 3rd of the way trough it!). It's great to see so much knowledge shared so freely. can't wait to start getting into that costume and starting to post some progress pics of my own.

Hi all, I'm not sure just how I came across this forum, but I'm glad I did.

I'm a professional visual artist and filmmaker. My interest in prop/costume/model making lies more in creating original props for my own film productions rather than replicating stuff from existing films.

Right now I have at least three projects in the works that are prop/model intensive.
Project #1 is a short film noir in which I plan to use ultra realistic hand puppets in place of real actors. These I plan to sculpt (to resemble noir-era film stars) and cast in latex the same as making a mask, with or without an internal armature.
Project #2 will be a sci-fi short set in space, which will require original model spacecraft, and practical interior sets built in miniature, into which live actors will be composited.
Project #3 is a feature film which will require a Batman costume. This is not a superhero film, but a dark comedy in which Batman only appears only as an imaginary friend and advisor to the main character. No one else in the film can see him. For this I want a very old-school, Alex Ross-style Batman similar to the Dead End costume, with a close-fitting, sculped latex cowl and 40's style black and gray cloth outfit.

Any help, suggestions, or advice for any of the above would be greatly appreciated.

G'day guys.

My name's Lawrie and I live in Victoria in Australia. I'm a huge fan of most Sci-Fi stuff including the Alien films, Terminator, Srenity + the TV series Firefly, Star Wars and Star Trek. I'm also a fan of other movie genres, probably the most predominant of these being the good old western.

When my job isn't getting in the way I am a historical recreationist. My wife, myself and some friends get together every now and then and recreate 10th century Viking period.

I am currently working on an Aliens Colonial Marine costume.

Cheers,
Lawrie.

Hi hi! I'm Tiney and I've been a costumer for a few years - I'm an adequate seamstress and I'd love to learn more about props and all that. Love movies, sci-fi, comics, video games. I also crochet - so I make lots of random little stuffed toys. :)

Hi There,

I was told about this site by a member called Tee at YourProps.com. It looks like a great place to spend some time!

I'm a collector of both screen-used and replica props. My big loves are Star Trek, Hercules & Xena and Stargate.

I write a blog called Vulcanology which is dedicated to Vulcan-related props, costumes, design, etc. from Star Trek.

I look forward to getting to know people here!
