Hello everyone! I'm John and I first heard about this site from Adam Savage on one of his many Tested.com podcasts. I have no idea why it took me so long to sign up, but here I am!
I'm a maker at heart (and always have been). I've only done a few props but as I'm already working on a few more, I think it's time to join another community where I can learn (and hopefully someday share something of value back with!).

My first ever commissioned art piece turned out to be a prop. The steampunk author Theresa Myers came across my work on my website (https://knightandsontemporalengineers.wordpress.com) and asked if I could create a physical prop for then digital only "Stinger" gun.
thehunter150x225.jpg
We were both very happy how the prop turned out.

My biggest lesson learned from that experience, was to always make a copy for myself!

Anyway, I hope to get to interact and meet as many of you and learn and apply what I can.

Cheers!

John

Hey everyone! I'm Brandon and I joined this site to help me compile a Starlord build before last Halloween and I just couldn't gather the funds and or have the skills to build most of his kit on my own. I'm now reading all the forums and posts I can on him and will hopefully post a preliminary look at what I have found so far soon. I am determined to have everything together for before this Halloween. I love that this site can bring like minded people together to share ideas and to help other build that costume we want. I will undoubtedly use this site more and more as I will likely want to not only improve my first crack at Starlord but try other costumes as well. I hope that someday I can be one of those people helping other aspiring cosplayers to build their own creation but that will take some time and experience!

Hey,
My names Nick, obviously new to the forum!
I haven't really built any props but it's a hobby I've always wanted to get into. I learned about the RPF from watching Adam Savages "tested" channel. Hopefully I'll be able to find time to build some props and bounce some ideas around with others here, and share what I've done!
Thanks everyone, I'm excited to be part of this!

Hello,

I am new to the cosplay and someone at the last comic convention I attended informed me about this site. I had so much fum at the last convention I am already trying to build my next costume. I am excited to learn a new skill and share information and ideas. The pics below are my attempts at cosplay and I am willing to learn to produce better costumes

Hey,

I'm Benny. I stumbled across this and thought I'd join. I don't expect I'll be contributing much, but I really enjoy reading about the community.

Hello everyone,
My name is Dorian and I love the things that are being made and posted about. I am looking to purchase some items for my Cosplay costumes. I am just starting out building so please bare with me and any advise would be greatly appreciated

Guess I did this a bit backwards. I made a post in another thread, but I should drop the line to share about me. I happened upon this forum while looking into BTTF Mags. I randomly saw a listing for the back lettering to realize you all have been happily modifying and EVEN FABRICATING your own mags where Nike has ignored the obvious demand.

I have a limited sneaker obsession with Nike Air Max 95 and 96's, as well Air Jordan V's. These are just because I had them when I was younger and have great memories surrounding them. I have restored some of mine, so I am familiar with the ins and outs of customizing shoes (stripping and painting). So, I am warming up to the idea of modifying some Air Mags to suit my desires. I have a buddy in Japan who calls Nike's "high tech shoes". I showed him a picture of the Air Mag's and he said "Super Futuristic High Tech Shoes!"

Yeah, I want some of them, so I have to thank all who have contributed to making Air Mag's accessible outside of Nike's failures.

As for props, I actually do have some! I have a dozen or so screen-used Magnolia frogs. I love them dearly, and they were just a grab because I thoroughly enjoyed the film. Well, that is enough about me; I look forward to learning more about you all. Cheers

Cant wait to see ur NIKE MAG kicks when they r ready...

Nike dropped the ball with all things bttf as far as i am concerned... Even hot toys suffered the wrath of GREED..

Ive seen better customs than NIKE do anyway... So suck it up NIKE... the fans will always win \m/

Thanks, man. Funny thing about greed, one would think they were motivated by money and see the value in production. It was considerate of them to offer them as a charity moment, but even that one fell flat. They could have generated more for Michael J. Fox's foundation through greater volume. LA Kicks mastered durable lights long ago, but here is Nike having to say they are not real shoes because their components fail and they don't want to support the warranty claims.

I have to imagine some executive at Nike doesn't have the demand within themselves to believe the market is there for them. As a result they won't risk a general release because of the fear of failure and criticism that would result. I think the Air Mags actually look better than half of Nike's line up. It is a shame they don't listen more, both Nike and us would be satisfied.

Hey, I'm nother really sure how to introduce myself. I just started cosplaying and I was watching a video on YouTube and they mentioned this sight so I thought to check it out. So... yeah.

Hi all. Thanks for the big welcome. Big fan of all the work that goes on in here. I've been using this resource for a while, and now that I have some time I wanna share some projects with you. Stay tuned!

Hi, just a quick note to explain my reason for subscribing. I recently came across an old ST phaser in a box of memorabilia dating from before 1977. Comparisons to threads here and advice from an expert the reasoning is this is a replica and not an actual prop.

I'll post the pictures I have in a new thread and TIA for any help I can get narrowing down who made the prop and any history it may have.

Matbe it will be, came for the advice, stayed for the awesomeness.

Jim

Hello creators new and old! The name's Phil, long time lurker and I finally made an account. Takes me far too long to make things, but I'm excited to get started. If anyone has any tips on how to get started with and completing projects, I'd love to hear them!

I've made some stuff before for cosplays, doing a little sewing and making several large weapons for them. I'll take pictures of them, but no in progress pictures since it's been 9 years since I made them.

Looking forward to hearing from people! Cheers!

Hello!

New guy here.

Little background about me:

I am a 28 year old ex-mechanic and HUGE nerd. I injured my back a few years ago and could no longer work on cars so I've been looking for something that could keep my hands busy. I'm not happy if I'm not building or making something.

I also went to art school for Visual Effects and Motion Graphics. I had to drop out with only 6 months to go do to financial reasons so I didn't get my degree but I still have a strong love for what I learned.

I work a soul sucking job in a call center and I am currently looking for a new career in the Graphic Design or even prop making.

This all leads me to finding a new passion, prop and collectible making. I'm fairly new at it but so far here are my creations.

The Futurama Planet express ship. My first ever resin mold that I first sculpted from sculptey then made a two part mold. I made some plain white casting that I will paint and a few that glow in the dark. I will be selling these if there is any interest.

Hey, Everyone -

Love seeing the craftsmanship that goes into prop replicas and the vast wealth of knowledge you all have.

I have a 3d printer and want to get my feet wet with prop replicas - what brought me here is a desire to re-create the gas mask from the 1989 Batman movie. The one Vale and the joker uses at times throughout the movie.

Thanks!
