Hey everyone I'm Brandon and new to this community. From all that I'm reading and seeing looks to be a great place. I am looking for a darth maul costume that is close to screen accurate. So if anyone has any ideas on where I should look I'm all for it. Anyways looking forward to seeing all the different props and costumes and meeting great people here.

Hi there,

I'm a huge collector of things I love.

Just been lurking around and viewing the talent.

Hello Everybody!

I'm new to this field but have always had an interest in it. I have a background working in footwear and love researching materials (leather, synthetics, textiles).

I look forward to learning more and starting my own builds.

Cheers,

Stags

Hello everybody.

My name is Chris, 29 years old and I am from germany. I startet building stuff just about 3years ago.
It all startet because I really wanted a boba fett helmet. I didn't know where to get one so I decided to build my own. After a lot of picture research I found the dented helmet forum.with the instructions in this forum I managed to built my own cardboard mandalorian bucket. Since then I was hooked.
Mostly I am interested in star wars related stuff. But if there is something I want I build it. :)

Hey, new to thread very interested in doing a conversion from real c96 to a DL 44 just confused as to how taking a working Mauser and adding a side mount for a scope will affect the cycle of operation.

Hi there, thanks for accepting me to the community. My name is Steve and I'm from Perth Western Australia. I'm a mad LOTR fan and am an avid collector of Lord of the Rings United Cutlery items. I only have the shards of narsil, sword of samwise, high elven helm and museum collection glamdring left to collect so if anyone has them for sale please let me know!

Hello all

My name is Uwe, I live in Southern Bavaria, Germany. I have been building model kits since I am 6 or so...but just on and off and with medium success. I am interested in everything historical but I also very much like good Science Fiction! Can't stand "Fantasy" though...! Big Star Wars fan ever since I saw ANH in the movies in 1978...yes, I am an old fart already!
Currently planning on a Millennium Falcon model, second one after my 1980 or so MPC that is long gone!

cheers
Uwe

Hey everybody,

my name is Bruno and I'm a 30yr old photographer from munich, germany.

I'm not much of a builder yet, but ever since I watched Indiana Jones as a kid, I've been into movie props. Most of the props I'm interested in are things I can use in real life, so I'm more interested in Indy's leather jacket than the whip. Although some day... well, we shall see.

Anyway, I'm getting more and more interested in building some props of my own, so I'll start digging through the archives here to get my bearings.

Happy holidays,
B

Hey all.

Not new but been a member for some time, just been away and getting back in to it.

Mods- unsure if this is the place to post but please redirect me if there is a better place to post this.

I have used the FAQ and search function and have found it difficult to get any definitive information regarding what I'm after.

I am from the UK. I am looking to do one of JFCs custom foam files. My issue is with sealing and painting.

From many threads on here and elsewhere on the NET I know I can seal the foam with PVA- not an issue I can do that.

However many posts go on to mention amazing products hard to come by or overly expensive ( eg. plasti-dip/ smooth on 65d / smooth cast etc/)

My question which i can't find answers on are:- can I get away with just PVA sealing and painting
- Why is plasti-dip and equivalents used after PVA a prior to painting
- Most importantly what are the 'equivalents' over here in the UK and where can I get them??

Mods- apologies but used your search engine etc. and couldn't find anything relating specifically to this and as much as I love trawling through 52 pages of "......great build,......can i get the template,......just use plasti dip........" I thought I'd just send up a post.

If you feel this needs to be directed please do.

Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone,

I've heard a lot of wonderful things about this forum and community, so I'm excited to finally have a reason to join. My name is Welmoed (pronounced as 'well-mood'), 25, and I'm from the Netherlands. Never having made a costume in my life, I decided after seeing The Force Awakens last week that I need a Kylo Ren costume. Yes, need. I have no idea what I would do with it when it's finished, but I really want to make one. So here I am, joining to learn from the tips and tricks of seasoned makers and wanting to share my own progress. I have been reading a lot on this forum about other people's Kylo costumes and that has given me so much useful information already!

As I said, I have never made a costume before, but I am up to my ears in fiber crafts, being a sewer, occasional crocheter and obsessive knitter. Because of that last thing and the difficulty to find the fabric for Kylo's outer coat, it suddenly clicked that I could also knit the thing. So now I'm busy knitting swatches to see which stitch pattern closest resembles the fabric used in the movie (I think I figured it out, though!) and will be opening a thread to document my progress there.

So, I'm happy to be here and to start down what I can only assume is the slippery slope of costume making (and then some).

Best,
Welmoed

Hey guys. First time here. Me and my wife like to make costumes for the family to cosplay. I've finally made an account after seeing the RPF on FB for a long time.
