Greetings Programs!

I've stumbled across this site a couple of times in the past few years, but given how many threads I've been reading the past few weeks, I figured it was time to sign up. There's SO much good stuff on here!

I've been fascinated by props and costumes for a while now. I think it really started with Farscape. This past year I was going to make a male version of Sweet Pea from Sucker Punch, with my girlfriend going as Baby Doll. In September she decided she didn't want to dress up this year, so I stopped buying pieces. Hopefully I'll have a reason to really get started on it one day.

A few months ago I watched Tron: Legacy again with our oldest girl and she absolutely flipped out. That got me really excited about it again. I'd like to make us both Legacy costumes, but there's a lot to that. I've bought a few of the lighted toy discs with the intent of modding a couple of them. I was going to buy SoulInertia's mod kit since Erv doesn't take commissions for his amazing version. (Those guys are my heroes!)

I really want to try my hand at making some custom stuff, but I feel like there's so much I don't know that I don't even know what to ask. I want to learn to work with whatever materials (foam of some sort?) people use to make armor and the like. I also want to learn to program LEDs so that I could customize something like an identity disc myself. I'm pretty good with my hands, if I just knew where to start. If anyone could point me to some good threads or sites for beginners, I would be grateful.

Glad to be here and thanks to all of you for sharing your creations. I look forward to sharing something of my own in the near future.

Hello RPF. I am Brian. I am a lifelong Star Wars fan. I just got into the hobby of foam armorsmithing. I have a few projects Id like to accomplish and will surely be needing some help along the way. I have a black series Kylo Ren helmet as well as lightsaber that I'd like to modify a bit. My background is in cars. I am trained in all diciplines of the automotive world. I also did aircraft electronics in the US Air Force for 6 years. I look forward to talking to you all and hope I get to meet some of you at cons. 2015-12-15 17.02.44.jpg

Why hello thar! Long-time cosplay hobbyist here. It's nice to be in a place where I feel like I'm among peers.

I tend to tackle projects from anime and occasionally games, whatever is capturing my interest at the time. I've washed up on this forum a few times, lurking through threads for ideas. Most of my stuff used to concern sewing though, and it wasn't until recently that it occurred to me that I should sign up. My interests steer ever deeper into the depths of prop-work.

I suspect I'll be asking for a lot of advice, the community here is so knowledgeable! Also, having somewhere to post progress keeps me motivated, like checkpoints along a daunting, horrifyingly long video game. If you see something I've done / am working on and you'd like to know more, just ask. It's a two-way street.

Some pics of what I've already done, because forum posts without pictures make me sad.

Greeting to all. My name is Kirby and I am from Livermore ,CA ... too bad this site wasn't around 40 years ago, ( this may give you an idea as to how old I am ) I could have used it when I was watching Lost in Space, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea etc. My passion now is Star Wars and I am currently into costuming, hoping to enter the 501st soon. Lots to learn here and lots to share.

Hello, very long time lurker here. I am from the UK and decided to sign up as I have just purchased a Graflex 2.0 from the project runs section, looking really forward to receiving it.
In the past I also had a go at a few star wars models and I have an MPC Millenium falcon with the Blue Moon upgrade pack that I bought a few years ago still in its box untouched ready to use. I think I may move those on though as I have ordered the Bandai 1/44 falcon as I prefer that size for a display model.

Hey, everyone! I'm Wesley and I live in Florida. I've been fascinated by props my whole life, and am just starting to get into building my own stuff. By day I'm an artist and art history student with possible law school aspirations. Once I graduate I'll no longer have access to my school's sculpture studio, so I'm also hoping to build up a good starter toolkit.

I've been really into Star Wars for as long as I can remember, but there's no way to predict what sorts of projects or items will grab my attention.

Hi guys, I'm new to this website, I've always been an enthusiast for superheroes, villains, sci-fi and action, be it movies, tv, games or the mysterious 'other'. I recently started getting into cosplaying, making my own costumes and building my own props, and am looking forward to sharing ideas with all you lovely people :)

Hello, i'm Ezequiel from Argentina and finaly decide to join this fantastic site. I'm a young props collector, and recently i'd started to build my own stuff, with a lot of tips and other things learned from here, and the amazing jobs you people shown here. Hopefully, i'll start upload some of my stuff to share with you guys.
Thank you!

Hi I'm Patrick from London, I took my two children to Comi-Con at the Excel in London about four years ago and haven't looked back. I got roped into making costumes for them since - starting with The Crow (and no neither of them have seen the film), Hit Girl, The Winter Soldier, Black Widow and Katniss Everdeen.. Saw the Force Awakens last night and the game is afoot to start on the Rey Costume and another Katniss.. Looking forward to seeing how everyone else does it.

Hello!

I've been airbrushing for years and how really gotten into replica's and now onto armor and helmets. Just through my Star Wars props research I've come across the RPF and am to the point where I think I can contribute. I'm having a blast and can't wait to learn more!

Thanks so much!

Greetings, just created this account after lurking for a few months.

I'm a big fallout fan and after following the great Kommissar I attempted to build an NCR Ranger costume for halloween this year. I have an upcoming comic con in a few months and I intend to rebuild my costume as i'm not 100% happy with the results of my first build. Looking forward to watching all the great work I've seen from tons of exceptionally talented people here!

Hello all!

I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks after stumbling across the site - I was looking for a way to build me some Fallout 4 Power Armors, and well, here I am! I am completely new to all of this costume building, but I find Pepakura to be oddly relaxing o_O I am currently working on a T-45 helmet and this is what I have so far after experimenting with epoxy resin and following guides on here.

Yes, it's a tiny bit warped and has some running (resin) lines and I don't care. This is my training piece :) I can only get better (hopefully).

Anyway, nice to be here and I will definitely stick around.

Hey, what's up. Just graduated high school and looking to kill time. I've been interested in making replica lightsabers, thermal detonators, R2 units, etc. I've been interested in design for awhile but I'd like to put my interest to work.
To start out, I'd like to try small things, like little props from various movies. Things I can try building from scratch and weathering. Anyway, contact me if you have ideas or anything.

Hi my name is Adam but a nickname that has stuck with me is Tee from Mr T - A Team.

I have always been interested in Superheroes/Villians, Star Wars, action through movies and games(PC and console). I have worked in IT for the past 8 years in the UK. I have not always felt comfortable with my interests socially but I am now in a good place and able to be myself.
I have always wanted to go to a convention and make replicas/costumes but never had the confidence and always failed at crafts. I came across Pepakura from lurking on this forum and I thought it was time to give it a go and sign up. I have started a Boba Fett helmet and have more planned from Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Elder Scrolls and one of Toothless from "How to train your Dragon" for my son, should keep me busy for a while. I hope to share, help and also soak up as much info as I can to improve.

Here is my current project:

Not the best but I can only get better!

Thanks for reading,
Adam

Hello. Happy to be here. Looking to share some pics of my Death Star Man Cave a d hopefully learn some diy prop building

Hello everyone in RPF land, I'm looking forward to seeing what it all about.
I've been modelling for many years just for fun, in the last few years I have had a few clients for custom paint work and detailing. I love weathering in airbrush and all other model related things. Anyhow that's enough of me for now. I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Hello All,

My wife and I are Leather Workers who mostly make RenFaire Gear, but on occasion have made cosplay pieces like Jedi Belts, Blaster Holsters, and Sword Belts for Star Wars, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, and LOTR fandoms.
I first, recognizably, came here a few weeks ago, when I was researching a propmaker selling resin blaster/phaser/gun kits. I think Ive been here before but wasnt paying much attention other than for research. I dont have a collection of props but Ive always loved seeing them and hoped one day to have a few.
I would like to say thank you just for being here. This website is a great research tool.

Edit;
Now I remember I was looking for a buckle similar to one worn by Jack Sparrow.

Hi as it's been a long while since I've done any modelling I've jumped in at the deep end and bought a hasbro millennium falcon from a fellow member, all help would be appreciated in locating items required for the build. This will be a budget build as the wife's not to forgiving on the amount of Star Wars items I purchase anyway.
Many thanks in anticipation

Hi everyone
