Good evening, all!

I'm Miri, recently transplanted from Atlanta to DC, and I tumbled onto this forum looking for references for Rey from The Force Awakens (I know, me and thirty thousand of my closest friends). I've been at the "seamstress" end of semiprofessional costuming for quite a while now, and I've started looking to branch out into big silly armor and weapons, and I've heard nothing but good things about this community. I figured if I didn't join up right away, I'd end up turbolurking, and that's way less fun.

Lovely to meet you all!

Hey guys!

New to this site and the world of trooping... I have always wanted a set of stormtrooper armour since I was a kid but I am finally starting to delve into the world and purchase some things...

I decided to go with the new First Order stormtrooper. I really like how they look and I currently own the helmet and am working on collecting all the other necessary items so I can begin my trooping conquest. :)

Hello Everyone,

I'm new here and wanted to say hello, My name is James and I'm from the UK.

I've just posted a picture and video of my lightsaber here I've also made a Star Lord Element Gun but haven't posted about that yet.

I use 3D printers to make my props and just bought myself an airbrush for painting.

Hope to make loads more and post on the forum.

I also write a blog about 3D Printing if your interested? Link in my profile.

Thanks everyone and have a very Merry Christmas.

Regards,

James.

Hi, I joined not too long ago and forgot to do this. I haven't done much costume making but I recently did an Archer costume for halloween. I made some NVGs from a kit I got off of Adafruit.com. I'm interested in getting into more advanced costume making. My goal is to make a Necromonger costume from The Chronicles of Riddick. Specifically Karl Urban's Armor before he became a 1st. If anyone has any pointers or if anyone has made one or has access to stencils it would be very appreciated.

My name is Lauren but I go by Ryn. Formerly a lurker. I'm into cosplay and slowly working on the skills required to support that hobby. I'm not much of a maker yet. I would say I have the best handle on sewing, but I'm not yet to the point where I can create a pattern from scratch. One day!

Hi all! Longtime lurker here, and with my Star Wars fervor awakened I've found myself finally getting into the fan-made prop scene. :)

I'm primarily interested in the sci-fi and fantasy movies I grew up on: Star Wars, Back to the Future, Alien/Aliens, etc. Screen-accurate props has always been the thing that's intrigued me the most — having a little piece of a story with you — and with all of the incredible advances I've seen here and on the other forums over the past decade it's been remarkable to see how the passion of people that love a movie almost always trumps the access and R&D a licensed replica builder may have.

Looking forward to learning more from everyone here!

Hello, RPF. I joined last year, and have been lurking without posting and I think it's past time I started participating. I got into prop making in 2010 after deciding to be Pyramid Head for Halloween. When I get the opportunity, I do set costuming for TV shows and short films in my area.
I'm working on the Dragon Slayer from Berserk right now, along with Gut's armor from the Lost Children Arc. After that I'll be making Kylo Ren's light saber and helmet to celebrate the new star wars movie.

Allo! I stumbled upon this site in my research for next year's cosplay. I hope to complete a Rey build from Star Wars Ep VII - I was just so inspired when I saw the film last week. Originally I was going with a genderbent Thor concept (not Lady Thor, technically, more like a 'femme' Thor) that I'd partially designed before deciding to switch. Hope that I can employ the powers of this community to complete my Rey!

Katie

Hey everyone! Stumbled onto this site by way of a YouTube shout out from I Like To Make Stuff and I've been lurking ever since. Been a big superhero and Star Wars fan all my life, and I've recently taken an interest in the whole maker/diy scene. Obviously I'm very new to everything on this site, but I'm looking forward to learning a lot and developing the skills necessary to hopefully build my own Han Solo DL-44 Blaster!

if any one is interested in making a deadpool movie with me dm me on Instagram @wyattyoung13 . if any one is interested in helping me make a cheap, affordable, screen accurate deadpool costume talk to me. if we do end up making money off of the film any one who decides to work on the film will get a share of the money. I have gloves and swords. but if any one would like to cut me a deal on some deadpool movie costume parts id be interested. lol ( but fr If you can please do)

Hey, just another sonic screwdriver nut, I do other things too though. Like right now I'm building a 3d printer out of disk drives but that's not really a prop. Anyways, nice to be here, like the stuff that's happened so far, can't wait to be a part of whats to come.

Well Hi my name is Dan I live in Northwest Washington. I will try to punctuate as well as I can. One thing that keeps me from forums is my writing. Even if I have worked on a book since about 2004-05. So I have been a nerd and a geek for 99% of my life. I have been blessed to see some of the best sci fi and superhero movies ever made in our lifetimes. Hey All as the name suggests JD from Sydney Australia, always been a Star Wars nut and when going to the latest one of the guys at work sent me photos of his Pep Storm Trooper and I was blown away. He pointed me in the direction of this forum as a great place for information and ideas. Looking forward to getting started on my first project after Christmas.

Hello everyone!

I am happy to be apart of this community and hope to meet a lot of awesome people on my journey here, I have been making props for the past 5 years and have been a private seller of props for 3 years. This is my first time ever going public with my work so it's a pretty cool atmosphere so far. My main set of skills goes into making weapon props but I can make almost anything, I also love sculpting of all kinds mainly with foam and clay. I also use my 3D printer to make things I never could before (along with my 3D modeling background).

There isn't really much else to why i'm here, I just want to share my creations with the world and work with other prop makers aswell, I hope to turn my prop making into a full time job one day but mainly just want to get my work out there and make better things each time! Feel free to message me if you want to work together or just talk. Thanks everyone!

Greetings to all here.
Since I joined up with the RPF forum Jan 3, 2015, I read many of the interesting discussions but as you can see have never posted. There are many reasons for this, I guess one of the main ones was as a Community Manager and then a content designer and forums, well were the bane of any game person's life. It is like when you go to learn linux, anyone starting out knows that you need a thick skin, most, not all forum people are a very close knit group and someone coming in and asking the typical old questions just gets them annoyed.

Well after much reading and googling definitions, etc I thought I would take the “plunge” so to speak and post something to say hello.

So “me” hmm, I'm 48 and my first introductions to anything Movie/Props/Animation etc was when I first sat in a projectionist booth in Skegness, England, with my father running the film “Jason and the Argonauts (1963)” This was when I was 6 such a along time ago.
Watching the skeleton fight and the different shields they carried all different but lovely to see.
So do I make things? Not really, well not prop or replica wise. I create things that are in my head never usually to see the light of day or another human's eyes, other than the “geek” belt buckles I make and sell to make a few pounds when I can. I am a full time carer now for my partner but have decided at the age I am now to start creating things that I have seen from films, tv, magazines and the like. Having the opportunity to see people use their great skills to recreate or invent such detailed replicas / props it says “If one has the time, dedication and skill anything can be achieved.

Now all that said, forgive the not so good grammar, spelling Dyslexia is and can be a bugger when trying to write out more than a few lines or the odd question. But I the one good thing from being Dyslexia is that it helps me in thinking outside the box.
I have always told people “Think outside the box, heck toss the box and think outside the quadrahedron!”

So this is me, and I look forward to many a good / bad / heated or just plain information conversations.

Darren..

Hello everyone another Newbie here.

My name is Cedric and I am a 17. years old German. I am very interested in props and I'm planning to buy a stormtrooper armor in a year or something. (when I saved enough money ;-) ) Well I thought I'd do some research as soon as possible and I am looking at different sites since October.
I know that I'm a little to young to buy an armor but I always wanted one and I'm not only doing this because of the Star Wars hype.
So yeah... Hi!

I'm Kristin from Mississippi USA. I've been into costuming for a while, and I've been lurking on the RPF facebook community for over a year now. I just realized I didn't have an account on here yet, so here we go. My "big" prop this year was a pink insulation foam build coated in epsilon - pretty simple, but assisted by advice I found around here.

Hi guys, Evon here trolling through the yard looking for a few Vader costume essentials.. from boots to nuts.. ESB or Rotj. Trying to get a few good things to complete a costume.

Hey all!

My name is Natasha, originally from England but now living in Australia, and I'm currently in the process of sculpting a lifesize Yoda. It was whilst researching this build that I came across this AMAZING forum and I have been hooked ever since! I have been an artist my whole life and have now moved onto prop making. Something I have always wanted to do. And I'm sure all the newbies will agree, this forum is like a holy grail of information and inspiration for sombody starting out in this creative field. So many amazingly talented artists! And really helpful also. I look foward to seeing everyone's work and will share my own as I complete them.

Great to meet you all and all the best for your current endeavours.
