re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all. My name is Matthew Rhody and I am a long time lurker, first time poster. I am a fan of all things Star Wars and collect a ton of props. I'm starting to dabble into making my own; however, I am not entirely sure that I possess even a tenth of the skill required to match some of the phenomenal work I have seen. I look forward to garnering inspiration from everyone as I strive to make something worthy of posting. God Bless!

Hello all, my name is Thilo Vogt.
I´m a collector and prop builder longer than 10 years. Most interest in Star Wars and Indiana Jones, like the most of us ;-)

The only film credit i have, is in a german short film called "das innere Auge" ACHIM WENDEL | Regisseur und Kameramann | Filmografie | Das innere Auge
I have build the brain chips and a credit card. It has run on shortfilm festivals and the german Pay TV channel Sky (formerly Premiere)

I build the props most of them for myself and i also collect some original items. You can see them on my Yourprops site.

The most of my collection is in my homecinema/Proproom. You can see pics here. Replica Prop Forum - dervogt's Album: my Homecinema and Proproom

There will be a bigger homecinema and seperate Proproom with a little bar in future.

Greetings from germany

Hello,

My name is Dan, I'm French and I agree with you on this great forum.

I'm 32 and I'm a fan of film and derivative products.

I found your forum by doing research on helmets Vader.

For it is my next project: finding a Vader helmet as faithful as possible.

So I hope you found my happiness among! :)

PS: sorry for my bad English but I use the Google translator ...

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Bonjour,

meimei aka Kat from Canada here and I stumbled my way over to RPF from FireflyProps.net
Fairly longtime geek (my dad first showed me Star Wars when I was five) who has had some propmaking experience after attending a performing arts school and working on several student film and theatre productions, but no real film credits.
I'm more used to working in small scales, starting with Barbie props when I was a lot younger and moving up to ABJDs in later years, so I'm excited to see what I can make at a person-sized scale... more of a crafter than a buyer, so I don't own a whole lot of movie props but my one big 'special item' is a reproduction of the One Ring from the LotR films.
Very excited to be here and start making things :)

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello!

I've been browsing here off and on for the past year or so. I just recently started making my own props. I'm hoping to move forward in the next few months and get alot of work done.

Hello all.

My name's Chris, and I've been lurking (and reading and admiring) off and on for a while now, and finally got the opportunity to join.

Been a fan of the usual movies and TV shows, but never made any props. Time and lack of talent have precluded the production of props. ;)

I just wanted to pop in and say hi before I go back to admiring the amazing work shown here. Just gotta remember that drool will ruin a keyboard, and my wallet can't handle it all. :D

Hello everybody!

I'm Ben, probably pretty hard to guess from my username. I had visited a couple times before, and it seemed like a pretty nifty site, but what really brought me here was Harrison Krix and Adam Savage. I re-watched Adam Savage's TED talk today, and he mentioned this forum which reminded me that I should become a member!

I am pretty interested in prop building. Sounds like a fun hobby. Up to date I have not done anything nearly as cool as a lot of the content on here!

I've been a big fan of this page for a long time and joined today. I make replicas of the ruby slippers, from "The Wizard of Oz". My name's Chris, I've been a big prop LOVER for a few years now. My Dad is really the one who got me interested in props. He always loved the "I Dream of Jeannie" lamp, and Barnabas Collin's ring from "Dark Shadows". I bought him the ring for Christmas a couple years back and he LOVES that thing. I would really like to get him Barnabas' cane next. The only props I've ever attempted recreating are the ruby slippers. My great aunt passed away last year and the last thing we talked about was the ruby slippers. She wanted me to start making them and have my own little business with them since I loved them so much since I was younger, and would watch the movie with her. She passed away 2 weeks after we had this talk but ever since then I have set out on making her proud and making ruby slippers for other people to enjoy them just as much as my aunt and me.

Hi all,

Been lurking on this site a while because I'm just in awe of all the talent on here, and now I just had to join to interact with all you artists! I've only done print and web graphics work and am fairly lousy with actual 3-D, tangible stuff, so I'm not sure how much I'd be able to contribute to this forum in terms of sharing work, but IF I actually make anything I think is worth sharing you can sure I'll post it. Harvey Birdman and Batman costumes are in the works...hope I didn't jinx it. :lol

Greetings!

I am a looong time lurker. I first stumbled onto RPF back in the late 90s when I was putting together this Darth Vader costume. Most of the armor components and all of the resin parts that turn chromed drain pipe into a lightsaber were located here. Since then, I have perused these pages on a regular basis but was never able to join until registration opened up this year.

DahnVader.jpg

My personal interest runs more towards full, life-size figures from horror and fantasy films – the end result of a progression from Aurora monster models in the 70s, to 1/6 resin kits in the 80s and 90s, to resin busts on mannequin bodies in the 2000s. Below are a couple of close-ups of Karloff/Frankenstein and Connery/Bond figures I have completed. Most members will recognize the Connery sculpt as the work of Chewie15 (Howard S). I am currently finishing up an Indiana Jones figure that utilizes a Howard S bust and then plan to move on to a Chris Reeve Superman that is also based on Howard’s work.

Thanks for the opportunity to officially join the community!

Cheers,

Dahn Lee

Hi folks

My name is Stephen and I live in Scotland. I'm a keen sci-fi horror fan and taking early retirement means I can indulge my time sculpting and model making.
Came across this site while browsing for Alien reference pictures and thought, this looks like a great forum to be a member. The Alien model and photographs were superb by the way.
I'll introduce some of my work later for critique, once I've spent some time exploring and checking out all the terms and conditions for forum use.
Very impressive. Cheers.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all!

I am new to prop construction and am looking forward to learning and creating! I have friends who are making star wars props and that got me interested. I have created chain-mail props for renaissance faires and love plastic scale models.

My short term project is to construct a star wars b-wing helmet. My long term project is to eventually create a robotech cyclone armor.
