Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Took me awhile to post in the introductions thread lol
That aside, my name is Kenny. I am an industrial design student who was turned onto the prop-making community as a result of that choice and a few other members of the Tech Shop that I frequent. I have yet to complete a noteworthy build, but am working on a Daft Punk Thomas helmet that will hopefully be ready to cast before their new album drops, and I am in the planning stages of a Cap shield, Mjolnir, and a steampunk Iron Man suit complete with active, butane-powered torches for repulsors.
I have already learned a lot thanks to this community, that I would have never been exposed to otherwise. I know a lot about the professional grade (but very expensive) materials and tricks thanks to my trade and am hoping that I can pay it forward, after all the insightful and helpful thinks that I have read already on the RPF community.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello Guys, I'm Jonathan from Belgium, being an avid fan of star wars costuming it's what brought me here the first place, but being a geek I'm fond of plenty of marvelous universes and the "goodies" I prefer are the ones I can carry on me... as I always say figures of our beloved characters are nice, but becoming the character is way better :D

I learned a lot from assembling/painting my SW costumes, I'm not able to cast my own piece but I think I'd make a good client for those of you that provides the raw cast to work on :)

So I'm back since I'm thinking about making a Dredd 3D costume, starting with the helmet and see how it goes, fell in love with the character when I saw the movie, Iron Man is a dream too, but as I don't have the time to do it right I prefer not to begin, Space sheriff Gavan and Saint Seiya armors are other projects I cherish...

See you guys !

Hey guys, I'm Dáire and from Ireland.

I've bounced about in collectors terms from Star Wars to Firefly, swords from A Song of Ice and Fire to Phantom of the Oprea masks. I'm currently planning on working on a Captain America shield, and figured that this was definitely the best place to get advice and see how everyone has gotten on with theirs.

Cheers!

Hey there. I'm obviously new to the RPF, though I know a few who are already on here. I'm here looking for help with getting my various costumes together for DragonCon and Megacon. I look forward to chatting with ya'll.

My name is Billy and Im a big time fan of comics,sci-fi and for along time now I have wanted to join in on the fun of costuming. I live outside of Chicago in the suburb of Aurora (Excellent :thumbsup) and went to the C2E2 con last week and was really motivated to get ready for next year as a costumed superhero....or villain.
I have been a long time lurker and admire the work done by the people showing off their hard work on the boards and hope I can add some of my work to it in the future!
Thanks!
Billy

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

My name is Geno. I'm from Pennsylvania.

I have been film special effects obsessed since I was a very small child. My main focus while young was special effects make-up. I had a deep love for the art, but never practiced it as a paying career. One highlight from that time was talking on the phone to Tom Savini when I was just 13 years old about the technique of fractional make-up.

And now, 27 years later, I consider myself a fabricator/maker of all things, and have recently re-discovered my love for the arts. I plan on posting some prior work photos, and participating within this group as much as possible...or as much as my work schedule will allow.

Luck to all Builders.

Geno

Hello

Im Nat, been into art and props since was little, always making and creating. Im a cross media design student and love tinkering.
Started properly getting into prop making in the past few years. Started with simple builds for friends con costumes ( a trafalgar law sword)
Im currently working on a mini portal signs and a Stark shield from Game of Thrones.

I joined RPF because it is such a talented community and great inspiration/knowledge.

Hoping to get builds posted up soon :)

Hey rams, I'm from cocoa beach and I'm at megacon every year. I'm just wondering if I know you. Are freinds with anyone from the R2 builders?

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi, I'm extremely new to the RPF and new to making replicas. I was hoping to learn a lot of tips and tricks and everything else. The methods I know of are using cardstock to build a base then taping to solidify, than fiberglass resin and bondo finish.

I am from Toronto and moving out west to BC for school. I hope to meet some awesome people, just by browsing I noticed the majority of the community is very nice and so long as you are patient you can get help.

I am looking to get into making video game replicas, especially things from DotA 2 and Dark Souls.

Hello all, my name's Zac. I'm from NWOhio up by the Michigan border, and I'm just getting into cosplay seriously. Tony Stark (not Iron man) has been the focus thus far but I'm hoping to branch out. Hope to meet lots of cool people and make some new friends here. :)

Sadly, no. But I've gone every year. I haven't cosplayed in a while.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey, all. I have absolutely no idea what to say, but I'm obviously new and that seems to be enough for this particular thread. I'm also new to prop-making in general, and my first actual build is (hopefully) going to be a pair of "Injustice"-inspired Nightwing escrima sticks.

Hello! I found this forum looking for Dr Who key information. :) I'm also eyeing the Blake's 7 threads with interest.

I also am working on generic Steampunk props for myself.

Hello,

My name is James and I am a current resident of Orlando Florida. Although I have been registered for a while I have not posted here much. I have been pretty active on thedentedhelmet, as my first project was a movie quality ROTJ Boba Fett. I am currently working on a full size R2 hopefully to be completed by the next Star Wars convention in 2015 here in Orlando. However while that project is in the works, I am also looking to start building an Ironman costume. I look forward to any help people could provide me as to the most accurate pep files that our out there, and also if there are any builders in the Orlando area, that might be willing to share some hands on knowledge with me.

Thanks.

~J

Hello there,

My name is Luke from London England, found out about this site through watching Adam Savage on tested.com video podcast and watching him talk about his blade runner gun. It really interested me.

So I am a jeweler and silversmith designer maker and use a lot of CAD in my designs and use RP machines with either a hard Resin to make molds from or a directly castable resin to create stuff that cant be modeled by hand.

First thing i really want to do is model a Looper Blunderbuss because i love that film. Also i was looking at the Silver bars that other members have made and that could be quite interesting also!

Anyway this is me introducing myself!

Luke

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi there,

I'm Phil, an English guy that now lives in Thailand. I have a small collection of props and movie memorabilia,

My initial aim is to get my bttf collection off to a good start. I have the v2 mags, so next on my list is all the paper props, the jacket, the hover board and the hat from bttf2.

Other items in my tiny collection include an Et spaceship, a Sonny head from iRobot and the broken batman mask that came with the last dark knight bluray release.

Hoping to try my hand at some simple stuff myself. Buy and trade other stuff, and hopefully at some point use my Thai contacts to assist in some projects and production runs. Just need some inspiration now. Hehe

Thanks everyone!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi Short time lurker, first time poster.

Have an interest in model making from my younger days, but not really done much in the last decade or so, but as my kids get older there's an opportunity to get us all involved in something, big Star Wars fan and landed here after seeing some SW costume articles.

Shall enjoy reading for awhile, and following some of the 40K Space Marine builds as I was big into the 40K game and miniatures in my late teens.

Cheers
