Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi All,

I thought I'd sign up and see what advice is available for finishing my FireWire made Daft Punk (Thomas) Helmet. I've been following the work of Volpin Props for a few years now and have been inspired to the point of tooling up and getting my hands dirty. I am a graphic designer from London so if anybody needs help with graphics I'd be glad to advise.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi RPF. Came across this site in my search for information in purchasing or creating my own costumes (Iron Man, WM, etc)

Seems like a very active community with a ton of knowledge and SME's

Also, the community and moderators seem to do a great job of patrolling the scam artists

However, is there a rating system or profile view I can easily access about a seller's reputation?

I assume there is, but have yet to read the FAQ's, etc.

For me...you can Chk out my EBay profile...username: jrshirah22

Thanks!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone.

Far and whide I searched the Internet for days on how to even start on molding, casting and sculpting.
Sadly there is no Thread for beginners on RPF but I hope to be able to post here in order to learn from you.
For now I would like to know how to create a "main skeleton" (or how it is called) like out of PDF and insulation foam or whatever ways there are.
(sadly I dont know even 1% of any of this so might be a pain to teach at first)

Or If I am actually totally wrong on RPF (since there doesnt seem to be beginners around) I would be also greatfull
if someone could tell me some detailled pages on how to even start (as I said I looked for days but could not find anything informative enough,
for example nowhere is written about ways to create this "sceleton" before starting to mold)

Thank you for reading

Hello I'm Elisa
I'm a fine art student. Fairly new to making costumes and going to conventions but I've always admired the effort people put into their costumes and sculpts. I'll hopefully have some pics of my current project up to show soon.

Hello my name is Robert. I have been observing the RPF for quite some time and was only recently able to register. I am a fan of Sci Fi tech. I mostly work with metal and all metal construction and I am proficient in electronics. I have developed a likening for lightsabers especially reveal or cutaway views. I have enjoyed viewing many of the props many have shown here on the RPF, I will now be happy to converse with many of you. Thanks.

I just stumbled upon this site while I was browsing the internet looking to buy a Stargate Anubis Helmet.
I've seen a few topics that peaked my interest and decided to create an account to maybe get some pointers.
Thanks!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi I'm Ben from the Gold Coast Australia. I have recently purchased a UD Replicas Dark Knight suit and found this site when looking for a cowl. Having seen so many sculpts for cowls I am tempted to try my own one day. Unfortunately many of the materials that seem to be taken for granted on the forum are not easy to come by in Australia and if they are available the price is astronomical compared to many overseas markets. But, I digress...

My first foray into replica props was about three years ago when I started a replica proton pack. It's gone through a few iterations and is now looking really good. Although there a re some great light kits available for them they are quite expensive, so a friend and I recently designed and prototyped our own light circuits using a micro-controller for the light sequence and an adjustable pot for the speed.

I have cast a few pieces on the pack from my MDF construction and recast my own clippards so that I can use some on my friends' packs, however my next task is to attack the larger components and to cast them myself. I have also started using my Makerbot to print some of the detailed components based on Stefan Otto's design drawings.

Anyway nice to be a part of the forum. I think I am about to start asking a lot of questions.

Cheers
tulku

Have you made any of your own lightsabers to date?

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone

Just joined the RPF but I've been browsing it for quite some time.
I'm in the special effects industry and just finished my first monster suit with a few peers.
I enjoy sculpting/molding prosthetics, doing fx makeup as well as prop building.
Currently I'm making plans to build some dragon eggs (Game of Thrones) and possibly wig making if I can stop breaking the netting loops..

Always thrilled to see people's work!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello,

I am Joshua, and I although I have been a fantasy/Sci-Fi fan, but I am relatively new to the Costume/prop aspect of it. I have lurked around RPF for a while and just got around to creating an account.

A friend and I attended Star Wars Celebration last year, and I was able to troop as a Scout Trooper. That kind of lit the costuming fire for me.

I am currently awaiting the arrival of parts to build my an ODST armor kit.

A am reasonably skilled in painting, but my skills really shine when it comes to electronics and "Tech". I have recently started helping a friend design custom lighting for his costumes and weapons.
