Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone,
I've been a long time lurker and short time member on this fabulous forum and I am constantly amazed, inspired and sometimes downright jealous of the talented brethren and sistren on here!!!
I am a 44 year old guy from North Yorkshire in the UK and have spent time as a bingo caller, a pyschiatric nurse, a Police Officer and for the last 18 years as a professional musician ( 15 of those in the Middle East ).
Now back in the UK and having always been a fan of making 'stuff', sometimes for local theatre companies and sometimes just for fun (and always with no budget!!!) I am very happy to be a member on here.
I've added a few pics that were made on no money for some theme nights the band did (usually using hot glue gun and old style foam!!! ) and am currently working on my 2012 Dredd build.
Just wanted to say hi and wish you all good luck with your builds!!!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I learned about this site by watching some prop videos with Adam Savage. I don't have a lot of projects under my belt, but this is a great place for inspiration. I'll be taking a stage make-up class at my university next quarter, so I expect that there will be some good practice there. I've got some other ideas as well, so we'll see.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Oi,

I'm Dante, from Bloomington, southern Indiana. While I've never been the most creative of persons I have an itch to make and recreate. My largest project ever undertaken was a re-hash of a stilt-walking Jack Skellington Pumpkin King halloween costume. It required so much effort and skill I did not posses that it outright drained me. [http://i.imgur.com/EN3pi.jpg]

However, I'm back and this time my sights are even higher as I hope to begin building a 1:1 replica of a Guild Wars 2 summoned golem. Let's see if this one finally kills me.

Hi folks,
my name is Christian and I'm pretty active over on Aliens Legacy. I've been building props and set pieces my whole life (I had a Ghostbusters containment unit made of cardboard in my bedroom in '84 and a batcave in my barn in '89), but in the last few years I've been embracing my love of the Alien films. I was pretty intimidated to join as my builds tend to be more "in the spirit of" than "100% accurate down to the last hex bolt" kind of deals, but I am in awe of the things people have made on here.

Hi Guys

I'm Martin from Liverpool, UK, I'm a professional graphic designer, i work with Vector and Image editing, only recently got in to prop building but i've been painting and miniature building for nearly 18 years. my prop wishlist is pretty long, i like anything from the Aliens, Blade Runner, Dredd and Red Dwarf universe but that can expand through anime such as ghost in the shell and akira, a very cyberpunk interest.

Hi all,

I stumbled across this site researching the Mle 1935 musette bag used by Dean Corso in the Ninth Gate. I'm also into woodworking and have been involved with some mold making over the last couple of years. I'm just beginning but look forward to learning a lot. Face Off has really caught my attention and I have been watching it since it premiered.

Hi all.

Been cosplaying Jack Sparrow for a few years and have made some basic cheap and easy costumes (Top Gun Maverick, FF Squall).

I've recently decided to go all out and build a movie replica of Aragorn's ranger costume from ROTK (Pelennor Fields battle). So will be posting progress on that.

Great forum.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all! I love all of the hard work and skill that have gone into all the props and replicas on this site, and since I occasionally make a few myself I thought I would join in the fun! Good to meet you all!!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi I live in the UK, I primarily purchase predator and alien stuff, but I am a fan of most movies in general. Recently I have looked into making my own props out of cheap parts, I'm no expert that's for sure! I soon hope to make my own arc reactor, t virus vial and if I am feeling ambitious maybe a cod ray gun!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone! I'm leatherman aka Dwayne Puckett. Leathersmith full time and a huge fan of movie props. When I had cable I watched that auction show religiously, when they came up with all that Star Trek memorabilia I was hooked.

Looks like a wonderful place to be! :)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello Hello

Came here following several links about different Fallout cosplays. Eventually Kommissar's New Vegas Veteran Ranger cosplay caught my eye. Then and there I knew I was going to create my own cosplay based off the Ranger.

I hail from the United States, and I am currently pushing my way through college. I've never actually made anything before, however a lot of the cosplays around here have inspired me and practice makes perfect. So what better way to practice then to start building!

Look forward to making the rounds and seeing what other cosplays are out there.

Hi,

Not really a new member, just not that many posts.
I have been dipping in from time to time and thought a reintroduction might be in order.

In the last couple of years I have been studying prop building with a new interest. As an artist who works with 3D (tangible) I have been developing my skill-set and knowledge within model manufacture and reproduction, with the view to work within the film industry...somewhere :)

To see what I've been up to you can visit my portfolio here:

Hi, I am a new member here. I'm interested in anything that has to do with Sherlock Holmes. The Granada series, Sherlock, Basil Rathbone, the RDJ movies, just anything. If you have ideas, feel free to pm.

Hello!

I’m Richard, live in The Netherlands and I’m a wannabe TK.

At this point I’m still in browsing-mode and gathering information about everything I need…no… want. And yes, this means I have to adjust my budget almost every day, because of all the cool stuff I come across. :lol

:rolleyes However; Most props I find are outside the EU and I have to pay a lot of money extra for everything delivered with a price-tag over € 45. :eek So for these props I'm looking for an alternative within the EU. :confused

There is also a problem getting gun-like props delivered to The Netherlands because of very strict regulations :sick; I've asked Dutch customs about a permit, but it seems they are not going to bother to give me the answers I'm looking for. :angry
Never the less, it looks like I'm finally getting there. :behave

Now I'm just trying to make sure that I'm not buying the wrong stuff from the wrong people by looking at your experiences. :confused

Cheers! ;)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

The name is McNasty started building an Iron Man suit about a week ago thanks to STEALTH. Helmet, right arm hand to shoulder, and chest brace are done. Working in paper as of right now cause it's the cheapest since I'm unemployed.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone, I am new to the RPF, but I've been on the 405th for a while. I will be posting the progress of my first non-halo project here, an Iron Man gauntlet for my father using Darkside501st's files...might turn into a whole suit...we'll see where it goes...
