Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey all,

My name is Tim from Arizona. Happy to be here with all of you talented people!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I guess I'll join in on this introduction thread.
Hmm lets see what to say.
I am a graduate from Massachusetts College of Art and Design with a BFA in Jewelry and Metal Smithing. I live in Boston and I am currently working for a flute making company.
I have a decent expanse of knowledge in various metalworking techniques from fine jewelry, blacksmithing, welding, and machining. I have also dabbled in molding and casting in a multitude of materials.
I have always been interested in making props and replicas from games and movies. I haven't made all that much in direct representations of props but I do intend on perusing several project ideas including a Dead Space plasma cutter and probably some Fallout weapons.
Anywhos it is a pleasure to make your acquaintances and I look forward to HARVESTING KNOWLEDGE FROM YOU ALL!!!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Aloha ALL,

Cripes, I finally found out where to introduce myself.

I'm a HUGE Bat Fan. I like a lotta other heroes and stuff, but I am more or less much more, "understanding" of the Batman. Due to my day job, I relate absolutely to Batman's "one rule", and need to "fight within rules"...my "opponents" have no rules, no holds barred, anything goes. It's difficult sometimes as force can often be reactionary...:behave

I'm a novice foamie from years back, and in no way am I as good as the foamies here!

I've ventured into urethane props, and am very interested in the process involved from start to end. I don't make anything out of urethane, but I wouldn't mind learning if i can afford it.:rolleyes

Anyway, I look forward to the whole experience here. It's a very nice place to be and the members all appear to be genuine and sincere! Traits I appreciate again, due to my experiences in my day job...

Mahalo and take care all!:cool

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey everyone,
So after quite some time of lurking around on this site, I finally decided to make myself an account. My current project is an Amazing Spider-man zentai modification, and I'll be posting pics of my progress once I move on to doing my 2nd suit (got two suits, one to practice the mods on and the second to do everything perfectly).

Other ideas I have on my radar are an Amazing Spider-man 2 costume (gonna try modifying a Raimi zentai suit), a Nightwing costume for the LA Anime Expo, and a possible 10th Doctor cosplay.

I've also got a few other completed cosplays (best two being a WWII Captain America and a TASM Vigilante costume) which I'll probably post pictures/ how to's when I find the time.

Happy to finally be a part of this community!

Hi All

My Name is David, I am all the way form New Zealand. found this site after watching a YouTube video of "Myth Busters Adam's Man cave episode".

So I am here and overwhelmed with the wealth of information you have. Guess I will be sifting through it slowly and starting my own little project.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey guys! Don't know how I missed this thread.... My name is Pat and I'm an American living in the UK. Working on a Captain America TFA costume for now, and that's about it. I've done a couple Jedi costumes before, but mostly Cap focused now as I work in a comic shop.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone. My name is Sean and I live in Warrensburg, Missouri. I have made several false starts in the costuming game, mostly because I have zero skills. I can't sew, I can't make molds, I don't have a dremel... nothing! I have an unfinished Jango Fett stubby jet pack, a few Predator parts and miscellaneous pieces for Hunk from Resident Evil. But nothing close to a full costume. All of that changed about a month ago (January 2013) when I found out Adam Baldwin was coming to Kansas City for Planet Comicon in April. I quickly began doing research for putting together a Jayne costume and the RPF and The 'Verse were two of my first, and best, finds. I discovered that most of the research had already been done for me! Anyway, I will start another thread to detail my progress, and hopefully cap it off with a pic of me dressed as Jayne standing next to Adam Baldwin.

Hay all. I'm new to this and have interest in X-MEN & HIGHLANDER. I have no props or costumes but I hope that will all change soon :p

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I found this site while researching Star Trek TOS Communicators.

Many many years ago, I heard that the Bangor, Maine Star Trek fan club chapter called the USS Kasimar had a full scale replica of the Enterprise bridge and I went to see it at the Bangor State Fair. There was a guy there who had a replica communicator that I absolutely fell in love with. It had a metal grill and looked like it came straight off the set of the show. I was in love with that prop.

I heard about the DST/AA props only recently with their current release (apparently they have been producing them for years and I'm the only Trek fan who never knew about it) and it brought back many memories of being a kid and obsessing over the Intergalactic Trading Company and StarLand catalogs and seeing all the props for sale and how badly I wanted to get a communicator of my own.

I was looking into their build quality and all of a sudden I found myself here and discovered the John Long kits (which I purchased already). This is what I'd been dreaming of all those years ago but this kit is even better becase this kit has been molded from the original prop, but you guys already knew this. :facepalm

Anyways, despite the fact I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm going to attempt this build and see what happens. I'm open to any tips/tricks you guys have. Looks like I've got lots of reading to do. I've lurked around here most of the weekend and what I've seen so far is truly jaw-dropping... the communicator builds (obviously), there's a guy building a Millennium Falcon cockpit replica, Back to the Future screen-accurate newspapers and so much more...!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi folks!
This is Ed from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
I've been in love with props, prop making and noncanon making for many years now but unfortunately have never even tried to start one single project.
Mostly because, like I said, I'm from Brazil and that type of thing is very rare around here.
Perhaps I was just not looking in the right places and that is the main reason I'm joining the RPF.
Luckly I'll be able to find some people in my area to get started on learning some new skills and hopefully begin my first project soon.
It's great to be here, I've heard nothing but amazing things about this community.

Cheers
Ed =)
