I've been propping now for about a year. Having started on the 405th building my Spartan suit from paper to mold to casting it up out of Flex Foam-it and plastic.

Being a larger built person, I try to choose costumes that will not look to "chub-chub" when worn, so my options are limited since I seem to always look like a football player in armor.

howdy everybody, Im Alex in Pawleys Island SC and I have recently begun attempting to make props and prop replicas as well as silicone masks. Im absolutely floored by the work and craftsmanship on this site its really inspirational. anyway i look forward to many years of learning, creating and recreating alongside the talented artists on this site.

This page has inspired me so much with all the wonderful pieces everyone has worked so hard on. I am very new at this and really don’t know much about costuming. I just know that I enjoy it very much. My skills are very limited but I have picked up a few wonderful tips from this amazing page. I love how everyone helps out each other here. I haven't really done any replica costumes or props, so far it's just been animal masks.

I'm David I'm about 27 born and raised in Switzerland. As one would recognize english is not my first language, but at least here you don't have to put up with my terrible accent, just my horrible spelling and grammar
Years ago I've been making props and costume parts for various small theater groups, sadly all but one of those do not exist anymore. So about 10 years ago I stopped making props and worked mostly as a self employed goldsmith. But as the "recession" slowly grew I had to find other work, so I started working at IKEA where I do work at the moment. It's great fun working there but it sadly doesn't quite satisfy my urge to create and build things, so few months ago I decided to start building spaceships again (which I loved doing as a boy).
I started with my favorite ship from freespace (a space fight/flight sim from around 1998) and long story short, whilst crawling the www for inspirations and techniques I stumbled upon this website and it, or more you have given me great ideas and inspirations.
At the moment I'm building a danube/runabout class shuttle from Star Trek Deep Space 9. Right now I am waiting for the silicone mold of the nacelles to cure. If I get my camera to work again, I certainly will post some pictures (not that many wip because I always forget to take pictures when I'm working. :facepalm)

Hello all! I'm new to the RPF and I'm very excited to start! I'll be surfing and replying as much as i can and i look forward to learning from everyone. My first build im doing is a costume for Halloween of the Monkey King, but i am using the original Wukong skin from League of Legends as a template. I am filming and taking pictures as i go, so hopefully ill be able to make a thread with my process soon.

My name is Conor , im from Ireland iv been since the start of the year researching on this forum about different pepakura projects, i have never made any props or costumes before. At the minute iv started on an Ironman helmet MK VI, i think so far it doesnt look bad, only problem was the size was few inches too big :S. i am very proud to be apart of the RPFforum, there are so many talented people on here, and also everyone seems friendly by giving advice to people who are struggling, anyone on whom i come across on my travels with any advice please share with me as i plan to make a full Ironman costume.im gonna post up some pics soon on my Ironman helmet , see what ya think :]

I'm new here. I got interested in prop building very recently, when I stumbled across a link for "Craft foam armor," while sourcing craft foam for a different project (padding for a carrying case for my iPad keyboard). I started building props from foam around the beginning of April, when I got excited about bringing them with me to the Avengers marathon/premier.
I really liked Stealth's Hero Tutorial series, great info and solid advice, really got me into the hobby, so thanks Stealth! So far I have made Mjolnir, a Captain America Shield, an Iron Man helmet (all 3 pcs. attended the Ultimate Marvel Marathon with me ), and my current WIP is a War Machine costume, almost done fabricating. I will post threads on each of these as I learn how the forum works and how to post pics.
