Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I guess I should introduce myself...

*ah hum..*

My name is Victoria! I am a Full Time Student/Retired Veteran

I have a lot of time on my hands because it's SUMMER BREAK! WOOOO! So I want to keep busy by trying new things. One of those things is building my own Mass Effect Fem-Shep Costume. Which is one of my favorite series... I want to have the best costume for Halloween and be able to kick some reaper butt in the process. I've never done anything this big. Normally I stick to the "girly" crafts like making soap, candles, gardening, etc..etc... but because i'm such a "artsy-fartsy" person I figured this would be something I could tackle. I have SO MUCH free time that I could put it in to building pure awesome.

I am happily married and have been since this past April. Whoop! He is a huge gamer and got me back in to gaming. He's not "artsy-fartsy" though so most of my projects he sees as a huge waste of time lol Where he is practical i'm... special... anyways I found this site by googling N7 Armor for fem-shep and this site was in one of the postings.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello, vbsargent in Maryland. Been interested in props etc for most of my life. I've made lots of costuming for theater, larping and conventions.

Below are some of my works.

Elisia.jpg

The fellow on the far left in all the chain, plate and kilt. All that he is wearing was made by me.
Nigel.jpg

Did not make the boots, hat or shirt, but modified the shirt to accept removable collar. Pants drafted from 1890's tailors manual.

MonocleEyepiece.jpg

As above, but it's only the boots and jacket that I didn't make or modify.

Nigel1.jpg

I made the vest, putees, goggles, and gasmask.

LarsTomak.jpg

Made the entire costume with the exception of the blaster which I modified.

LarsTomkak2.jpg

Another view.

LittlestClone.jpg

Cheap and easy scratchbuilt clone trooper armor. Corrugated cardboard and moulage.(Made without Pepakura or any other pattern)

CLoneBobblehead.jpg

The bobblehead clone.

There is much more, but I don't have access to the pics at the moment.

Hello everyone! My name is Greta, I'm 18, and I love costuming!

I've been creating costumes for a few years now, mostly things that look like this

wip_white_wolf_by_gretters-d52qfk5.jpg

(That's a work in progress photo by the way)

And I'd like to start getting into other costumes, such as armor and prop building.

I'm currently working on a Black Widow costume, and Iron Man Mark VII (Isn't everyone? lol)

I love seeing all the costumes and props that are built here, and look forward to making my own in the future!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello! I am brand spanking new to props! As in I havent the slightest idea on what to do! which just means there is more for me to learn. Currently, I am interested in building an Iron man mk IV suit. I have finished the pepakura helmet but that is as far as I have got.

Idealy I would like to construct the whole suit which various mechanical operations involved. That is the goal at least. Since i have zero knowledge on servos or anything electrical whatsoever, I plan on spending my days at work, evenings planning my wedding, nights homework for college, late nights for my iron man project and early morning for sleep!

Hi everyone,

I'm John, a 28 year old baker from Montreal. I speak french as a 1st language, so please excuse any mistakes on my part. I love building stuff, be it furniture or props, I've always had to work with my hands somehow. I've tried a lot of hobbies, most of them employing my dexterity (rock climbing, calligraphy, sculpting, biking, photography, etc.). I've recently discovered this forum and couldn't stop reading posts about all these props, you guys do some amazing work.
I've developed some prop related skills that are useful for my job (mould making and sculpting among others), but I'd really like to get better at them and I think this forum is the right place.

I thought I'd show you a picture of a costume of Two-face that I made a few years ago for Halloween

At that point I had taken out the make up, but it was pretty bad anyway.

So if you have any baking related questions don't hesitate, I'll do my best to answer them, and I can't wait to contribute to this community.

Hey guys, I'm Chris. I'm 25 years old and live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I've been on The RPF plenty of times but have just recently been inspired to create an account, thanks to my newest project, Rinzler from Tron Legacy. I could use all the help I can get, and seeing as how you all are just plain amazing on here, I really had no better place to go.

Hi everyone!
Umm.... I'm from S.Korea(So my english skill is VERY bad)
I came here to get informations about homemade replicas(especially stormtrooper and Doctor Who, Marvel comics...)
But ya'll know, Korea is lack of modeling materials.... As a result, I'm very hard to make high-quallity props.... :(
Anyway, 잘 부탁드립니다! 여러분!

Hello Everyone, my name is Michael. Been lurking for a few weeks and figured I'd finally jump in. 49 yrs old, interested in a few things, currently trying to design a Steampunk style rocket-pack.
Absolutely love all the work I've seen here, very inspirational.

BTTF!

Hey all!

I'm new to prop making - and my first project will be Doc Brown's remote control - a prop that was showcased in a film I consider "perfect".... I'm speaking of Back to the Future - of course!

The way I see it, BTTF may not be the "best" film ever made, but I think it's one of the rare films that falls into the "perfect" category. For the type of film BTTF is, for the tone and world it creates, for the cast, the direction, the story, the music - I think they nailed it. You can't do that film better. It's perfect.

..... So now I'm making a prop from it....

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey guys and gals,

My name's Andrew, but you may call me Voltron if you'd like. I think my obsession with props started when I was around five years old (my dad had shown me the original Star Wars trilogy, and my-o-my, was there a lot to look at!) I went to Star Wars Celibration II and III, at Celebration II I had encountered the 501st for the first time and that's when I realized all of the magic from the movies could be a reality (in some sort of way).

Durring high school I decided I wanted to work in the film industry either as a director or, you know, anything in the post production process. My friends and I made many YouTube videos which allowed me to learn some things about props and costumes. At this point in high school (probably 11th-12th grade) I had been lurking theRPF for some time and decided to create an account and join the fun. I can't wait to start making better props, but that comes in time, I suppose. I've got a few random things I'm working on now, but would love to post soon. Thank you, Replica Prop Forum, for having such an amazingly supportive community that continues to put out awesome work!

- Voltron

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey Guys,

My name is John. Found this forum years back when researching for a Vader Reveal Mask that [unfortunately] never came to fruition.

Former graphic designer turned still life photographer, I have a knack for recreating documents, ephemera and ID's from movies, including Mother's scuttle instructions from the original Alien ; ) I guess the most bizarre replica I've created is the ABC sales incentive poster from Glengary Glenross.

Here to browse the original Die Hard props, and their replicas.

Best,
John

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Howdy yall! Just joined the forum and thought I'd introduce myself...

I'm Steve I can't really say I'm a costumer, or really into cosplay, but I'm fairly certain my 8 yr old son is.. Ever since he put on his first halloween costume (Black Suit Spiderman), he really gets into "becoming the character".
Even though I really don't get into cosplay, I've found that I can't look at movie themed kids costumes without thinking, "I could make that look cooler..."
When Iron Man 2 came out, my son wanted to be Iron Man. So I took an existing costume with the glow in the dark hands and chest pieces and I modified it. This is the result:
MichaelsIronMancostumehalloween2010.jpg

The hands light up as well - they're just led flashlight lenses, and I ran the wiring to the switch and batteries up his forearm.

This year he has chosen to be Sam Flynn. I plan on making this costume from scratch, so I wil have my work cut out for me... And if I finish his costume early enough, I may just have to put together a Kevin Flynn costume and go trick or treating as Father and Son!!
