Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hello all. 30 something Sci-fi fan here in Southern Arizona. First love is Trek with Star Wars a close second. Glad to finally have an account here, thanks for the heads up 0neiros! Guess you could say I'm a refugee from the Trek BBS. Too much winy nastiness, need a change of pace.

I suppose my particular skill lies in physical modeling and painting though I'm nothing more than an amateur, but I'm improving and will post a couple threads soon.

Nice to be here!

Hey All! I've heard a goodly amount of talk about the RPF, but have never as yet joined. I always seemed to miss registration. I've been around the boards for a number of years, so I know a lot of names here, as many might recognize mine. (I use the same everywhere) Glad to be a part of the community

Hello all

Hello all - I'm ILMwannabe and I too have been around the RPF boards for a number of years & recognize a lot of names here. I also use the same name everywhere. No I do not work for ILM nor Lucasfilm (kinda wish I did) - I only use that name to symbolize my creative interests.

I like most Sci-Fi & Real Space, esp. Star Trek, Star Wars, Doppelganger, Space:1999 & 2001. I am currently working on SS X-Wing (Salzo V3.1), SS TIE (Niesen) & SS TIE Bomber (scratchbuilt) and also have amassed a moderate collection of donor kits.

Looking forward to exchanging & contributing ideas & photos with the many knowledgeable & talented members of the RPF.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hello everyone!

I believe you can tell much about a person by their collection. If you've got some time, check out mine by clicking on this link -

http://picasaweb.google.com/home?showall=true#100

My name is Richard. "Once a Marine, always a Marine." I served our wonderful country in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1978-2001. I retired as a Master Sergeant.

I'm a seasoned collector of comic book, horror, and science fiction collectibles. My collection is pretty large and diverse. My favorites characters are the Aliens, Predators and Terminators. I grew up on Marvel & DC, as well as the classic Univeral Monsters and sci-fi movies like Forbidden Planet, The Day The Earth Stood Still, etc...

My screen name, I was born with vision in my left eye only, both are real, but I only see out of my "one eye", I wanted a unique spelling and feel that ONEYE works, the dots, well, I was feeling creative and added them in.

I am very happy to finally be here.

On this forum: http://heygofigure.com/forums/index.php#1 I'm mod/admin.

Give us your prop-poor, your genre tired, your huddled masses...

Finally...

Delighted to be here (at last) on RPF. I skulk around numerous other boards, but have, until now, been locked out behind the Iron Curtain. This has made for some pretty weird detective work when something tasty showed up in the junkyard; some folks have been accosted through their Facebook pages, You Tube links, Ebay listings, and even through the kind intercession of friends with RPF privleges.

At last, I can pester you in person!

(at least, I can after nine more posts...)

Thanks for opening the floodgates, folks.

- Bob

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hi all - I'm Doug, a museum curator based in Scotland.

My main thing used to be merchandise, especially Doctor Who toys, but when space became tight, I sold most of it and spent the proceeds travelling. The items I kept all tended to be prop replicas, so that's what ultimately led me here.

My collection is not big, but I have a few nice things - fan made classic DW sonic screwdriver and TARDIS key both from the late 1980s, a couple of Auto 9s, including a nice 3/4 scale Aoshima one with working slide action, a couple of FX lightsabers and some phasers...

I'll probably lurk more than post, but I really like seeing what all the talent out there is doing.

Cheers
Doug

Just don't ask any of the photoshop gurus to photoshop you in a Batgirl costume and you will be fine. :p

Oh, and welcome to all of our newbies!

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hey glad to finally get signed up!

I have been collecting Trek props for a good 20 years or so now, going back to when it was truly a rare find when a good Trek prop came along.

I do some other stuff too, I built 3 full sized Doctor Who Daleks, and a bunch of alien stuff - pulse rifle and models of the facehuggers and such, as well as some costumes and all sorts of other stuff.

Right now I am building a life-sized R2, and an alien costume, and a couple of proton packs for people for Halloween, so I cast a pretty wide net.

And don't believe everything you read, I'm actually a good guy... :love

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hi guys, It's a pleasure to belong to this community finally. I've been a lurker for a few months and am excited to finally be able to post and view attachments :p

I'm a newbie to the prop world and was first introduced through Master Replicas and their forums. I'm over on the Trek Prop Zone as well which I just joined.

When I was a kid I'd reproduce Star Trek TNG props out of cardboard, paper, tape, paperclips, and anything else I could find. I would build my own tricorders and phasers which would always fascinate the father and friends. Well now I'm older and have the ability to try my hand at these props using a bit more realistic materials :p

I've picked up a Mark X Medical kit from Rod.com and the electronics from a fine gentleman. The Mark X kit will be my first prop build and I've also purchased a Nemisis phaser I'll be building. I can easily see myself evolving to creating props from scratch but for now I'm starting with kits :p

I love Star Trek, science fiction in-general and am amazed by the Iron Man armor, Captain America shield, Terminator props.. and basically everything else here. This forum is basically my wet dream of cool stuff, heh.

Anyway, glad to be here and I hope I can contribute my lessons learned through time, my money for your awesome props, and my opinions to this community.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hey everyone, my name's Joel. I'm 14 and I'm trying to get into costuming. I've always had a love of creating my own halloween costumes, but never out much effort. But last halloween i made my epic costume debut, Hellboy. It wasn't movie accurate or anything, but it was a really big step for me. Now I'm wanting to do an iron man helmet, and maybe a costume. I've made a MkI mask from a welding mask, but thats it.

Here's some of my work:

Strange the links work in Email but not on the forum. Probably because of posting permissions for new users.
